just as the topic says, I have tried the L1, L2, L3 and Tri and Squ, but i dont seem to be getting the 'purple' screen.

any tips?

or does it auto 'up' it?

I just did a quick search for this on Google, but try connecting the controller with the USB cable and then doing it.

If you want to do it you need to push the PS button as soon as the light goes out on the controller to turn it back on and then push the buttons down.

Easier way for me is to keep your controller connected to the USB cord, it doesnt disconnect.

be prepared for a lot of tearing, and IMHO ever since they upgraded the ps3 to upscale ps2 games, the 720p option isnt enough of an improvement to offset the drawbacks (tearing). Before the update though it was HUGELY noticable.

yes you should, that means you did it right

It also won't work on the PAL versions.

I got it to work first try and I didn't have the controller connected. I just hit the PS button as soon as the screen flickered and then held the buttons down; purple screen ahoy.
