GTHD isn't a game, and GT4O isn't going to be released as a retail game.

I'm beginning to have my doubts about GT4: Mobile seeing the light of day unfortunately. I would have rather liked for that to come out

I think it'll happen eventually. But GT5 is likely their main focus now, as it should be.

There isn't going to be an actual game of it. It's just their way of getting feedback for GT5's online play and what people want improved.

[GAF mode]Lolz stupid Sony! MS invented online gaming and car games![/GAF mode]
now you're learnin' ;) :P :D

all kidding aside, anyone remember Nascar racing on TEN? :) that was one of the first major ones. but the first ever that I can remember is Moto Racer on the PC. but you had to do it all manually (ie: exchange IP's and find your own opponents whatever way you could).

still though, nobody has come even remotely close to the quality of Nascar Racing 2003 Season online. 43 cars all live in realtime, with no lag, biatches! still to this day the most amazing online experience to be had. something about 42 other real life racers racing along side you in realtime. i especially like their ranking system which kept newbies out of your races (rating system 1-10 and you could set a requirement of whatever and keep shitty drivers out).

I just want GT Mobile WITH online.

I can wait for GT on PS3 till they get it right. GT HD was a big waste of time.

Stick a fork in GT on PS2, its on its last legs.

How did the older more mature drivers feel about light bumping to spin out peoples cares?

:D

Is that some kind of indicator of players using the DFP? The mic on the right is to indicate voice chat I imagine.

It could be a filter of some sort, ie. only players with wheels may play on this server.

Whaaaat? Its not actually coming out for sale? That stinks. -_-

yeah, no kidding.

So, it hasn't been officially announced for either system, but didn't they say back before GT4 came out that an online-enabled version would follow later? I'll take an online version of GT4, but not if it's just GT4 w/ online for $50. If they do a Greatest Hits w/ online included for $20, then I'll bite.

All kiddin' aside. The online mode seems quite extensive.

It seems it even has modifiers to limit which cars can be used online.

Also, there still is no confirmation that GT Online will not be released.

Great to see some online GT action. Gran Turismo can't come back to less than 60fps (like in PSX era), Kaz knows that, and if Online means to drop FPS to 30 (like Froza) he choses to not release it. And I agree ^_^

Btw, IMO, GT online play + 60 fps is almost imposible on PS2. Burnout did it, though, and it's not a regular looking game...

This may sound weird but I hope they wait for the PS3 title before having a online GT.
I want GT5 to be really special. Both cars and bikes, extensive online mode and damage. All in graphics that are better than real life. You will cum in your pants reading the 2000page manual that's included.

Yep that's why I think its just going to remain a beta for figuring out what they need to work on for GT5. He's made it clear in interviews that 60fps is the only option for the games. I wanted this version of it, but after seeing that its likely only running at 30fps, i'll gladly wait for GT5 instead. This is probably the reason the online mode was pulled from GT4 in the first place. 30FPS is a no no.

depends on the result. if you could do it and do a clean pass without wrecking, then it was considered a great move. if you wiped him, yourself and half the field out, you'd find yourself with a lot of angry racers, perhaps even a ban from the server [if it was stupid enough].

the thing is, you take a lot of risk doing that, because if you caused wrecks you hurt your rankings, which would drop your ratings and keep you out of the better, higher rated servers. it was a big deal to be rated 7 or above and you wouldn't risk that unless you were damn good and knew how to do a proper bump and run.

It is possible. Quite easily i guess. Polyphony must be having a hard time with their netcode that's all.
Codemasters is doing 60fps online + 2 more cars already since 2004 (TOCA2)

Forza online has lost most of it's appeal to me.. PGR3 online still has some legs... but I am ready for the next big online racer.

Yah but the TOCA games aren't exactly GT quality when it comes to graphics.

Doesn't mean anything. You doesn't tranfert graphic by your modem. And doesn't GT4 doesn't even need to transfert damage/collision data like TOCA does.
Pieces of the cars can't fail either, just the tire and fuel data that needs update.
Honestly, Polyphony don't have much excuses to fail at online so far. It fact they don't suck, it's just that it's obviously not their focus because they would have pull it off already.

Right but the prediction algorhythms and running the netcode eat up processor time which may make doing online and 60fps an impossibility.
