Gran Turismo 6 • Coming on PS3 Holiday 2013

Yep, the rotation seems buggered on both wheels there. I believe that's an alloy, not a hubcap ;)

The reason that happens is that PD (probably every other racing game) simulates the rolling shutter effect of wheels seen through video by having different rotational speeds for the animation. Something you can notice where they change.

We had interactive leaves in GT Concept 2001: Tokyo-Geneva.

12 years later they're back.
They're in GT5, only on a much smaller scale. I remember once trying to focus on a leaf in photo mode and it worked.

*edit* Still have it

BTW I am finally watching a conference. Man. Everything is going to be DLC.

  • cars
  • tracks
  • tuning parts
  • Course Maker sceneries...

Dat Investment™

If the core content is substantial, and the quality is consistent, they can count on me to be a regular customer for added DLC. I'm totally ok with paying for additional work being put into something I like.

I seriously hope how engine/aerodynamic stall - that was existent in GT4:Prologue (2003) and never to be seen later - will also make a spectacular comeback. 10 years later.

As long as they don't overprice everything, I'm sort of fine with it. The game ships with enough content and mostly want them to improve GT mode first and I can't wait to see their definition of custom parts. I want more than just wings.

Yes, something like that. The wheel probably starts briefly rotating 'backwards' where it looks like it stutters.

Not happening. Especially if they still have rain, standard cars, standard tracks and night races in there.

Oooh, "part of the wheel itself" vs "added to a wheel"?

Basically. An allow wheel is an entire wheel (not including the tyre) made from either alloy, aluminium or magnesium. They come in all different shapes, styles and sizes. A hub cap is essentially a plastic cover that is strapped or clipped on to a standard steel wheel (usually very ugly).

Looking at the screenshots it looks like time of day is implemented on Silverstone, hopefully it's in the game, all real world tracks in the game should have night racing. I was so disappointed Suzuka, Fuji and even Spa didn't have this in GT5.

People won't buy Gran Turismo 6 because there is an arcade racer releasing on another platform?

I'm not buying GT6 near its release because of the DLC practices they are going to employ and that there is a next-gen racer that looks interesting is coming out on a platform that I will also own.

Will wait for a more complete PS4 version (or if that gets cancelled for whatever reason) the inevitable GT6 XL PS3 version a year after release.

There is soft shadow casting on trunk after stadium shadow. It is visible.

I'm not sure what you're on about.

I can't believe it's come to this but I'm going to have to post an image with a circle on it just like the good old days.

Hopefully it's clear why there shouldn't be any sun hitting the circled area. Well, the top part of it, I didn't circle it very well.

Lots of good news here. I had to ditch the conference in favour of ikea... GT academy this summer will be interesting :-) so will E3.

Of course somebody managed to dig up one of the worst shots of a standard cars, but I guess that's only to be expected of a gt thread. I don't mind the standards, but of course new premium cars are always nice.

This looks more like bug rather than lack of self shadows and i posted other picture with evident self shadows.

edit:
what you showed in that green wheel is rear window and there is sun shining on it

If we go by your theory then why on flat vertical back of quadro shadows aren't if form of gradient but in form of shadow which cast shadow only on 3/4 of quadro back where rest of that is not under shadow ?

pic in case you missed it:

Are you sure? Temperature and surface water? I can't remember, I know there was a sun on always sunny tracks.

Yes humidity and temperature.

Well, it could be that weather change is also in, judging by this presentation screen:

..but then again, tracks without daytime and weather change had these info in GT5.

I saw that in the presentation, does GT5 have temperature listed for tracks? I don't remember it doing so, but I might have forgotten.

They were displayed, but greyed out on the track settings. All tracks displayed the time of day as an icon.

Time, yes, but temperature?

More importantly, the UI menu for Silverstone also had temperature (it was 21 degrees).

It would be strange to implement a day/night system without a variable weather temperature. Im really hoping that if variable temperature exists, it might come with variable grip.

That would really be a brilliant feature, especially if it came with adjustable tire pressures

1-2 years tops imo.

Kaz at presentation said that GT6 has new engine which will fuel their creations for next 15 years... Which could be some mistranslation by Translator-San.

My opinion is that they wouldn't build new engine if they had GT5 one if they planned to release game only on PS3.

That sort of stuff made sense when their console were retrocompatible. But now it looks as if the PS3 and PS4 are competing consoles, one of those without GT6 (good luck with that, ps4).

Man those Gematsu pictures. Car models are definitely being future proofed.

My only pet peeve is that the side view mirrors looks discombobulated from the rest of the car, the Stradale is the only exception but that's probably due to how the mirrors are built.

It's definitely coming to the PS4. Yoshida has posted a link to the IGN article on his twitter account and VG247 interviewed Jim Ryan and he made sure to say that for this holiday it's all about GT6 for the PS3. They've definitely planned things out for the PS4 version.

I'll stick to my prediction that GT6 will release this year for the PS3, GT6 PS4 with some gameplay demo of GT7 (whether it be a basic demo or Prologue) will ship early to mid 2014, and GT7 will ship in mid 2015.

DAT horrible string of laps put together. You guys see the details, i see gameplay. That's six red laps in there. Stunning.

It is a journalist driving. Hell, even the so called experts at insidesimracing showed a screenshot of their licence tests for Spec II's review.

It was filled with bronze...

EDIT: Basically, they are all shit
