Grand Kingdom coming west this summer

NIS America is birnging Grand Kingdom, Spike Chunsoft’s new tactical RPG recently launched in Japan, to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in North America and Europe in summer 2016.

“We are very excited to be partnering with NIS America to localize and release Grand Kingdom in the West,” Spike Chunsoft CEO Mitsutoshi Sakurai said in a press release. “Danganronpa has seen great success with NIS America so far, and we are confident that they will also do the best job of bringing the experience we envisioned for Grand Kingdom to fans. We hope that fans all over the world will support us and enjoy this new game as well..”

Here’s an overview, via NIS America:

After the fall of the once-prosperous Uldein Empire over one hundred years ago, the Four Great Nations now wage war to claim dominion over the Resonail continent. Battles are no longer fought by honorable knights loyal to a nation, but by mercenaries who sell their services to the highest bidder.

As the leader of a mercenary squad, the player will lead their troops across a battle-scarred continent, overcoming obstacles and adversaries as they complete quests doled out by each nation. In doing so, they will unravel the mystery behind the downfall of a mighty empire.

With an impressive battle system that combines fast-paced action with strategic planning, and featuring robust character creation and customization options, Grand Kingdom is a Tactical RPG the likes of which has never been seen before. Assemble a squad of mercenaries, form an exclusive contract with one of the Four Great Nations, and participate in war with other players online for the future of Resonail.

But remember- in this new age of war, there is only room for one Grand Kingdom.

There is a demo on the japanese psn.
I didn't like the 'boardgame-like' movements on the map, but the combat looked interesting.

Note that this is from the director of Vanillaware's Grand Knights History

One Spike RPG down, one to go (Exist Archive).

I was thinking that it looked like a Vanillaware game for non-perverts and then the lady with the tits spilling over her armor flashed up on screen. Ok so it just looks like a Vanillaware game.

Why does it feel like NIS is out after my wallet? Seriously, like some mobster standing outside my door with a giant metal bat just waiting for me to give them all my cash.

I really liked it quite a bit. I haven't played it much lately, but it's a game worth checking out.

Awesome, thought this wouldn't make it over to the west, will import the US version if they end up not releasing it in Europe.

Awesome, looking forward to trying it out!

Literally the first sentence:

Ah, that was the game I was thinking of that this reminded me of. Did that ever get released here?

/me goes to check

Xseed had already finished the translation, but Vanillaware had moved on fully to Dragon's Crown and couldn't devote any resources to the localization so Xseed had to can it.

Played the fan translation of Grand Knights History and I honestly didn't like it that much. Pretty dull gameplay and the art was nothing special either. That said, handheld RPGs always interest me so this one will be on my radar.

Any word on if the Vita version of this is fine in terms of load times and performance?

Glad it's getting localised. Definitely on my radar, but I'll await some impressions because putting down money for it. At least it's turn-based (I think).

I must admit, this one slipped under my radar really. I know it released in Japan but I didn't pay much attention to it really.

Looks decent. Interested. And glad NISA are finally announcing things for 2016 (was just moaning about this the other day!)

The demo was great. Hopefully they fixed the loading times in the final version.

Performance is great. 60FPS, no drops, hi-res. Loading times are a bit longer than I'd liked, but it is an issue that the PS4 version also have (although shorter).

A pleasent surprise, I didn't expect it to be localized. I wish the art was better but if the gameplay is there I'm in.

The core mechanics were good, the game was just way too repetitive. So while I kind of get the "dull gameplay" part, saying the art was nothing special on the other hand is just plain wrong.

Most important question: Will there be a full soundtrack release for this? Mitsuhiro Kaneda is probably the best imitator of Hitoshi Sakimoto's style that I've heard. Really like the music from the trailer, think I will be buying it for that alone since the visual style is really lacking. No idea how this game plays, but it's a SRPG so I'm there to support it day one.

Since NISA is bringing the game over, it's likely they'll have a LE. The only question is if they'll include the OST with it.

good to see it coming out guess someone must be putting up the cash for the servers with the online portion
