Grand Theft Auto III 10th Anniversary Trailer

Best GTA aside from San Andreas. Even better on PC with mods, I think my copy ended up at 11GB with all real-life high-poly cars.

Hmmm I'm keen to commit to another GTA 3 play through, but I might just wait for the iPad release :)

Trailer was inspiring :D

Honest question: How many of you played GTA before GTA3?

*raises hand* Played the hell out of GTA2 on PSX. Such an arcade-y Sandbox game. Too bad the PC release that's free has issues with having a stable framerate so it's either 30FPS or 100+ FPS that makes it unplayable unless Rockstar's finally updated it to Win7 standards. :/

Of course I did :P.

1997 was the best Christmas break ever.

I've been there since day 1, have them all on PC. GTA 1 was amazing, I got as far as Vice City and it got too hard for my 13 year old mind. I loved San Andreas the best on GTA 1, Jesus buses and all. GTA London 1969 was fun in small bursts, I never played much of 1961 though. My copy went round the school like a fruity gent's magazine.

GTA 2 on PC was disappointing for me. All my favourite cars weren't there, there was a gang system with bars and I really didn't enjoy the futuristic setting or the borked handling of many of the cars in comparison to the original.

GTA 3, when it rolled out, was a dream come true. It was the first level of GTA 1 in glorious 3D. I remember the first time I saw some shots in PC Gamer, I was 15 and I knew it was going to be the best game I ever played.

Loved GTA since this -- it is very unique. Haven't played San Andreas, and think this is still my favourite to date.

I remember after a certain point in the game going to St. Marks was a death sentence. Your driving then next thing you know 2 shotgun shots to your car from some wiseguys and your dead. I'll always remember the sweet sound of hitting somone with a baseball bat too.

I liked GTA 1 and 2 on PC, but when I got 3 on PS2 it fucking blew me away.

I've not had that same feeling again really until 4 which raised the bar even higher.

I still remember how 'HOLY SHIT' moving about in a 3d city was when GTA III first debuted.

Put me down as another lover of the Sentinel, that and the Cartel Ute.

Vice City is still number one for me (seemed more complete, well rounded package) but III is unforgetable and I did enjoy the second dip into that world thanks to Liberty City Stories

I don't know if I'm misunderstanding you, but isn't there an in-game map in this screenshot?

Or did the console versions not have one or something?

I need caffeine.

EDIT: Oh I see, an actual full map, not just the radar thing. Ok, carry on.
