Grand Theft Auto V - Coming for PS4, Xbox One and PC this Fall - Trailer

Is there any sort of inkling when this will be released? Are we thinking October, November?

With so many games being pushed to early next year I guess R* will place this as the big holiday release.

Bundles and everything close to black Friday is my guess.

I read somewhere someone saying September 17, 1 year after the XB360/PS3 release.
Sounds plausible to me atleast.

Since we don´t know the release date and R* have not said anything every date sounds plausible I guess.

R* was pretty clear about "Releasing this Fall," and Sept 17 is still summer.

I'd love it in September, but I don't think it'll drop until October at the earliest, but just a hunch. I'll be bummed if it's later than October... I don't know why, but I think of GTAV was a warm-weather game, probably because you spend most of it in southern California. I associate GTAIII and GTAIV with cold, fall weather, or damp early spring weather. But Vice City and San Andreas are warm weather games for me.

Maybe the first Tuesday after Sept 17th, Sept 23rd which is also the first day of fall.

Very true, Although I don't think they will release it in like November or so, that would be way too late imho.

You just know their gonna do the 1 year anniversary thing...

Wouldn't be surprised if it's called GTA V : Anniversary Edition or GOTY edition...

My PS4 is ready ;)

I hope the christmas theme is available to select in the nextgen versions.

This is an interesting question.

There has been a lot of time limited DLC - stuff that can only be used for a certain period (e.g. Santa suit at Christmas or the Fireworks for Independence day... probably) and stuff that can only be purchased for a certain period and then used at will (e.g the Roosevelt car in the Valentine's Day massacre update) - I wonder what they will do with this?

Presumably just include the associated events and recycle the actual purchasable content for the same time periods this/next year.

If you're one of the 5 people that has a PC that can play this game at 8K resolution at 120fps then PC of course. Other than that, PS4.

i got it

Nine months after GTA IV released, we got The Lost and the Damned.

So where the hell is our single player chapter DLC for V? We have yet to hear a thing and we have passed the 9 month mark.

For as many people as they had at their studio working on V, it seems like they're really dragging their feet.

How so? One screenshot is made by R* as a promotional screenshot. Probably made on pc and before any downgrades.
IMHO it's not the best comparison shot (not bad, just not the best) because it's further away and harder to compare textures. You can see the trees in the PS4 version but a closer up shot would do a bit of a better job.

They definitely spent some time and resources fixing up GTA Online and supposedly the heist mission creation tools are still coming.

I'm guessing a big chunk of staff worked on the PS4/XB1 engine and textures and I'd wager a team is working on RDR2 :)

Yeah i imagine all those things will be available. Probably in one DLC pack.

RS said they were working on story DLC to be released this year. I think the Heist missions will be out at the same time too. RS knows what they're doing. The PS4 and XB1 versions are going to feel brand new. lol.

Started replaying this weekend and Im still blown at the liveliness of the city, especially compared to newer releases like Second Son and Watch_Dogs. Nothing compares and nothing comes close to R* world detail. Flying over the Pacific Ocean at just the right time of night and seeing the moon's shimmering reflection over the water was still remarkably beautiful to me. I can't even imagine how this is going to look in 1080p with all of the touch ups.

Even the rural areas are amazing seeing how the types of people change as you go to each area.

No one touches R* in that respect. I was walking round the UFO monument in GTA:O and just listening to the hippy kids talk and listen to music. Was blissful. Went to the waterfront and stole a boat and went across the river at dusk. Amazing. The graphics are amazing enough already so to know that R* is releasing what will no doubt be the definitive version is making me more excited to play the whole game again.

really, really excited to give this a go on PC. got too wrapped up in the hype back in september and left disappointed, but it's been a year and i'm itching to get back into the game and fuck around in LS some more.

I'm guessing October 28th, in honor of the release schedule of older GTA titles before IV got delayed!

I just keep playing the Episodes on PC- it's an unoptimized port, but it's still way cleaner than the console counterpart. Dreaming about this game, looking absolutely stunning in the Fall- it still was really mindblowing on last gen hardware.

Will probably pick up an XBO controller to truly enjoy driving with those new triggers!

That'd be a great 35th birthday present for me.

Yeah, it's a bit concerning that it's taken this long and probably GTA Online issues is to blame with their continuing to try and squash exploits that just keep popping up, not to mention the issues with the console CFW using "mod" abusing shit bags. The last update on Heists said they'd be coming in the Spring and Spring came and went without them and no further update since April on it. We had audio files found last December from an update for the casino and a likely heist based around it for at least single player and nothing has come about since. I'm sure they originally intended on the wait to be more like the gap between RDR's release and the Undead Nightmare DLC which IIRC was about five months than one that's nearing the gap they deemed too long with IV and the release of TLaD.

Different Rockstar studio completely is working on RDR2 (should be Rockstar San Diego) from the GTA team which is Rockstar North so that shouldn't be an issue, maybe they have another team working on the PC/PS4/XBO version but then it'd probably been passed off to Rockstar Toronto (like IV was) or another branch that wouldn't be working on the next Red Dead game. I would wager they had those textures already done before being scaled down for the PS3 and XB360.

Sold my copy of GTA V to Amazon for 25 bucks recently. I will be re-buying on PS4. Can not wait. The screen shots on the PS4 look so amazing. Can not wait to replay this game as it was intended.

What's the best choice between pc or ps4?

Do you want to pop the game in sit on the couch and play with your friends, or do you want to install drivers, deal with random bsods and tweak ini files just to get the game running in a stuttering mess.

PC version

I'll be getting all 3 versions but I think I'm going to play the PS4 version first while I wait for the PC version patches and some awesome mods.

Every time I see this thread, I'm hoping it's some new announcement with some extended hands on time.

There will almost surely be a new topic dedicated to something like that and yes, I'm exactly the same. Always get so hopeful even though I know better.

I read a lot of post like that a lot on this site

triple dipped or whatever and I also will never understand this

I could understand a double dip (one system for social play or w/e, the other for mods and such, 60fps and 1080p+), but I'm not seeing the reason for a triple dip unless somebody has that many friends spread across systems.

.

Well that's equally sucky that this janky online experience is what their focus is on for a series that started out as a single player experience. They lost me on the online portion as soon as I was unable to access the first race for 2 full weeks. I'm just waiting on more content for the polished part of their game, the single player.

If all my friends keep playing online with their ps3s, but i upgrade to a ps4, will i still be able to play with them ?

I have nott seen any cross-generational online play talk.

As there will be a more crowded world, i think that won't be possible. (Unless there will be 2 types of servers: one version for PS3/PS4 and one for PS4 users only, but i doubt that will happen).

It seems there's a lot of overlap these days as far as which studios work on what, though. Like the Houser brothers being on everything obviously, but also like Leslie Benzies (head of R* North) being credited as a lead designer and executive producer on Red Dead Redemption. And there are some other names that I see pop up in the credits of every R* game, like Rod Edge (I think he directs cutscenes and mocap stuff) and Lazlow.

Not totally clear just how much collaboration there is, but I think they may sort of take a Ubisoft approach. Where all the major branches pitch in on all the games.

But maybe that's more towards of the end of a project to help get it finished. Probably makes more sense that R* San Diego would be starting a new Red Dead while North is still working on GTA V support and DLC.

I know a guy who works as QA at Rockstar North and he put on a social media site that his contract was extended to October. Does this mean anything? I have no idea

Trying to decide how badly I want this. Do I pony up the likely $60 cost, or wait for a price drop? So many awesome games to keep me occupied this Fall, but I really enjoyed this one last year.
