Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

Pleasant looking wax, at least.

If theres no RT to enhance, then give me the highest resolution possible. Give me SOMETHING.

Anyways, made up my mind, not buying at launch since it has no photo mode. These days Photo modes are extremely important to me. I'll play my backlog until they patch that in.
Uhh dude it took hitman 2015 years to add one. Just a heads up.

Thank God IO packed every possible crappy effect into First Light. I could almost see what was going on in those (official) screenshots.
Seriously, what the fuck is that? I had better IQ on PS2 FFS

Yeah, I'm not really impressed by Bond so far but Steam version is waiting for release day at this point, hahaha.

I will have to see it on my own screen. 10 years since Uncharted 4, I want to play something new and similar to that series, get fucked ND.

No idea, hopefully. And the grain is way too strong too, so much detail is lost that it looks like a gouache painting

Lol, yeah, feels like it's 1080p when games have the CA that strong. The detail is long exactly, but it's a good way to mask some flaws.

They're going for that filmic look like most are, I don't care as long as I can disable them in settings. Some games even go that extra step and add a slider, I think TLOU part 1 did this.

The MP game was being done by a small team over at ND who used to do MP modes for TLOU1 and Uncharted. The main team has been working on Intergallactic since 2020. Neil said 200 people have been working on it for the past four years back in 2024. there was a small team that took over VSG's remake in 2020, those guys are now making the Uncharted spinoff.

Sony's mad because Neil went away to shoot two seasons of TLOU in canada. he was a showrunner so he was involved in virtually every aspect of pre and post production. They had made by the Studio head after TLOU2 but he went and made a c-tier tv show anyway. Watch the TLOU2 documentary. Nothing got done without his input on that game. Cutscene directors would wait for him to sign off on editing and camera placement. Animators and level designers would get mad because he wouldnt show up for meetings because he was held up somewhere else in the studio. now imagine if hes not even in the studio for four years.

Intergallactic's backlash is simple. The trailer showed nothing except for an ugly protagonist. A bald boss bitch type who players rejected in TLOU2. If they had gameplay or some actual story beats or even next gen visuals, people would talk about them. But ND didnt give them any of that. So if you didnt like the bald lead, you were bound to dislike the trailer. I said it back then but it was a terrible reveal for a game 4.5 years in development. You and I know ND will deliver best in class cutscenes, storytelling, combat and thats enough for us, but the masses have moved on which is what Gymwolf was trying to say.

Neil and now Nolan have both misread the room, and while I will be there day one for intergallactic, horizon 3, Female God of War, and Odyssey, a large part of their fanbase have decided that they've gone too far.
And yet GoY sold better at launch than GoT lol...

"a large part of the fanbase" doesn't give a flying fuck about the culture war nonsense spouted by the likes of you, most of this forum, some losers on X and fucking asmongold. You're a bunch of cry manbabies who's 2" prick shrinks even smaller if they dare see a female / person of colour / gay or trans person even mentioned in their precious videogame nevermind being the main character and even then you all represent less than a fraction of a single percent of people who buy their games. It's 2026. If you ever left your house and touched grass you would see the World is a very different place in major cities around the World. The reason companies are putting in characters of the type I described is because that's who makes up the world in 2026 whether you like it or not.

Also Intergalactic has not had a large team on it for 4.5 years lol. It was in pre production since 2020 and it was only 3/4 through 2023 that the full might of the studio got behind it. It's been in full development for barely 3 years as of today. That's why it won't be out until late 2027 and is now probably a PS6 cross gen launch game. The visual quality of the cutscene they released was incredible you just can't admit it because it was an Asian woman with a buzzcut and an attitude you don't like who was the star of it.

007 looks phenomenal.

Calm Down Al Pacino GIF

You extrapolate too much, the only two things we know for sure is that neil has to be grounded by other more talented than him to make a good game, and that his ginormous head is shaped like a tictac mint.

I know someone who works at the studio. Agreed about Neil though I've never liked him personally. Bruce was the counter-weight that made him good imo.

Wasn't GOT like 5M after 4 months?
From the link...

"Ghost of Tsushima managed to sell 2.4 million copies in just three days. After 128 days, it sold around five million – no small feat, of course.

However, Ghost of Yotei is pulling up – and fast. In just 32 days, the follow-up to Sucker Punch and Sony's action-packed gem boasted over 3.3 million sales. In other words, when lined up with Ghost of Tsushima's own numbers, the more recent entry has exceeded its predecessor in sales."

But yeah GO WOKE GO BROKE AM I RITE!!!111!!!

But we have no info about 5M (or more) milestones. As far as we know, sales could have dropped like a stone.

Not according to Circana. It is easily past 5mil. It hit 3.3 before the holidays. What you trying to say is that you "hope it dropped like a stone". Big difference

Circana reports 5M sales in NA?
No, Circana says it continued to sell well throughout the end of year. Even if it stopped selling completely at 3.3mil, Yotei still doubled it's budget. What is your evidence that it dropped like a rock other than "hopium"? Game was a big success

And I was dissapointed with the game, but screw people who make shit up to fill a narrative they want

That's quite rich coming from you who spend weeks defending Marathon, gaslighting people left and right with misinformation and inaccurate numbers just to make the game look better than what it really was. The CCU thread is even named after you LMAO.

So yeah indeed, screw people who make shit up to fill a narrative they want. You included.

If the game reached 5M sales, they would announce it or something?

I only defended Marathon as a game, which is great. Point to inaccurate numbers?

Seems like Nvidia blocked FSR4 in this game. Only supports FSR3.1 and the FSR4 upgrade is blocked.

From Techpowerup:

Why would nvidia do that? Game even performs better on AMD (and they use "FSR4.1" on PS5 Pro).

Seems like developer/AMD incompetence on display.

They had to go out of their way to bake FSR3.1 into the executable, rather than have it as a separate dll.
And of course, there is no FSR4 integration. And also no FSR Frame Generation.
But it does have all the nvidia tech, including FSR4.5 out of the box.

That would be the change on nvidia side, so far they weren't doing anything like that. AMD was the one forcing only FSR support in their branded games few years ago.

They were doing it in the past. At one point, they even blocked injectors from working with games.
Now nvidia is blocking FSR4 and Path Tracing for Intel and AMD GPUs.

It's more like Capcom not implementing any denoiser other than RR, pretty much all other games with PT have platform agnostic denoisers (even nvidia made Portal RTX).

But WHY they did that? I guess it requires more work and money OR nvidia paid them to do so. I don't know the answer.

Why, because it's an nvidia sponsored game.
And nvidia has done this many times.

Many games were Nvidia sponsored in the last few years and didn't have any limitations like that.

AW2, Wukong, CP2077 launched with multiplatform PT support. Indiana Jones got PT on AMD after 2/3 months, meanwhile RE4 and Callisto Protocol still are locked with FSR2 support only even after years.

I can give you several examples.
CP2077, for years it only had FSR2.1 support. And eventually it got FSR3.1 and it looked worse than FSR2
Dying Light 2, also, for several years it only had support for FSR2.0 and injectors were blocked. Only recently did it get FSR3.1 and the ability to get FSR4 upgrade.
Amid Evil. Only support for DLSS. Never had for FSR nor XeSS. And even the native UE4 TAAU was disabled. For years, injectors didn't work, only less than a year ago did Optiscaler manage to get it working.
Kena. Only had DLSS. For a while it was possible to use injectors to get FSR2 or XeSS working. Then an update blocked it. It took a year or so for Optiscaler to get it working again.

To me it looks more like "lazy devs". Many games are not properly updated after launch. Many tittles are still locked with DLSS 2.0 or 2.5.

I will agree with CDPR, they launched CP with no RT support on AMD for a while, BUT when they launched PT it was available on AMD day one. Late implementations of FSR stuff is also suspicious.

It's not. These games were getting several updates, sometimes newer versions of DLSS. But FSR was always locked out completely, or with a very out of date version.
I once asked the dev of Amid Evil, on the STeam forums, if we could get any other upscaler besides DLSS, he basically laugh at me. And of course, he never did anything to change that, despite the game getting other updates.

Most games don't get updates like that, majority of them are stuck with FSR/DLSS/XeSS versions the launched with, and while you can upgrade DLSS and Xess via .dll AMD was late to the party with this style of implementation. For the most part you can blame them.

There are few games that got constant support like CP2077, and with CDPR I agree that their implementations of AMD software were slow and not always good. I guess there are more examples like that, but I doubt Nvidia is paying them money - it's more like low install base of RDNA4 is their excuse to not do this job.

Physics interactivity looking yummy af

Real time lighting allows this.

CP2077 is the most heavily sponsored game of the decade. Dying Light is also a sponsored game. And so is Amid Evil.
And it's not about just about giving them money. It's about sending engineers, buying copies to bundle with GPUs, buying marketing and promotional space.
The reality is that nvidia, AMD and even Intel have done this.

I agree, all of them done this in the past.

I just don't see enough evidence that nvidia restarted this practice (so far).

There is no other reason for an nvidia sponsored game, to force FSR3.1 to be coded inside the game, rather than being the usual dll.

I also see no reason why this game has no hardware RT support, yet here we are.

I think you are probably right, but developers can be so incompetent sometimes that everything is possible.

First impression of First Light is that it doesn't remotely resemble a top-tier looking game. Honestly looks like a high res PS4 game.

A few early shots. Native 4K / max settings / film-grain OFF / chromatic aberration OFF / PC:

It's only going to get Path Tracing, sponsored by nvidia. And delayed, probably because this is their in house engine, so they had to do integration from the ground up.

lol Keep playing. Asset quality and lighting is way above anything PS4 tier especially later. Game looks really good

Another game with only low (SW RT) and ultra high (HW PT) options, no fucking RTGI as medium/high.

To make PT look better than it should be.

BTW, the Optiscaler team managed to get FSR4 working with 007.
With the usual injection method, it had a significant performance impact, probably due to nvidia blocking injectors.
But fortunately, it seems the team managed to get the Optipacher working. So FSR4 is back on the menu.
