Gravity Rush 2 (2016) & Gravity Daze Remaster announced (PS4) (platform whine = ban)

The remaster should be a low key release at something like $15. No idea why people want a physical

Because this box art is sexy as all hell.

So they are updating the first game? Hopefully the world will feel a little more alive and realized with the extra power they have.

I can't wait to Kat on the big screen in a crisp high def.

I saw a PS4 port coming from a mile away but it's great to see that both remastered and Gravity Rush 2 look fantastic. I loved GR on the Vita, so I'll definitely be picking both games whenever I get a PS4.

Oops sorry for the double.

And going all out with Bluepoint doing the port. Gimme that LE boxed version.

Ps4 exlusives exploding in 2016:
-Street Fighter V
-Uncharted 4
-Ratchet & Clank Redux
-Horizon
-The Last Guardian
-Gravity Rush 2
-Dragon Quest XI (?)
-Ni Oh
-DQHII
-KH II.8
-Yakuza 6

and many others.

just crazy stuff

I'd love to count Yakuza 1 remake and Yakuza 6 in 2016 for West but I know for sure as heck they are not coming hahaha.

Love that series though... Yakuza 1 and 2 were my absolute favourites.... so I hope we get a remake of 2 as well.

But really that is one of the best lineups I have seen from Japan from a classic Japan console games lover like myself in many, many, many, many years.

Going by the trailer it seems like they won't be updating anything visually very much, it looks like the same game but just a lot sharper.

I'm sure the textures and shaders will be sharpened up mildly at least, but it doesn't seem like anything like a major remaster, more like a straightforward port. Maybe extra draw distance and drawing some more characters on screen.

And being 1080p60 of course, that alone is enough reason for me to buy it. It's a fantastic game and IMO best game the Vita and one of the best and most original games in a long time on any platform.

Wondering how they will adapt the comic book strips for the story scenes actually. I'd be fine to see them at 1080p, they were beautiful on the Vita.

You know I don't even know anymore. This is a very different Sony that seemingly wants that old PS2-level variety. With them having helped Sega catch up with their third party production for Yakuza 5, I could possibly see Sega taking a shot with Yakuza 6. Ofcourse, there's the reality check that it's certainly possible they pass on it again until it actually happens.

Then again I'm still surprised/disappointed Bandai Namco hasn't localized the already released PS4 God Eater when there's a second one and the anime already being worked on.

The fact that it's PS4-only makes a Western release more likely. Seems silly to spend all that money only for it to release to such a comparatively small market.

Really? People here are this adverse to digital titles? I'd be thankful it's coming here at all. It's like Dual Destinies all over again.

It's not that I'm adverse to digital titles, but if Japan is getting a physical release then I don't see why us peeps in the west can't get the same treatment as well, especially with that awesome cover art doing the rounds. Plus I prefer physical anyway, given the choice. Makes me feel like I actually own the product.

Whoa!

As a huge GR1 fan and a devoted Vita supporter, I'm a little disappointed that the Vita isn't getting this game, but those graphics are so good that I'll still be buying this on PS4.

All that artistic charm of the first game looks to be back. Now let's hope they keep the quirky French-sounding language. And Kat's map-drawing skills had better be up to scratch; remember these?

And the language fanatic in me sees that there are at least two different alphabets being used in this game's world, one of which looks Thai-inspired with those little circles on the ends of the strokes. Can't wait to figure it all out!

How did you come to that conclusion?

Why should the remaster release be low-key?

Because its an uprez with minor tweaks of a portable game. Compare it to something like Tearaway Unfolded or Ratchet and Clank which are both $40. A standard remaster of a portable game should not be in the $40 and would be better suited as a PSN game. Or a more direct comparison would be Kingdom Hearts 2.8 which has a bunch of bonuses on top of KH3D.

Simply porting a portable game to console shouldnt justify a physical release.

And i say this loving Gravity Rush.

I was with you when you were talking about the price point.
But what the hell is wrong with offering a physical option and why must a game be treated like a second-rate title just because it's a port? It's actually pretty hard to find physical copy of Vita's GR, too.
Physical release shouldn't be "justified". Lack of one should be justified (no other options economically).

Oh I agree it'll surely come. But the PS Blog comments make it clear they're not announcing that at this time. Just saying.

On the US blog yeah, but the EU blog post was different and had the announcement of GR2, so it's at least confirmed for EU.

I think SCEA is not ready to talk about it since it's a year off. I'm hopeful we'll get confirmation by the end of the year though.

This game, if originally launched on PS4 not as a remaster, would have been $60 at launch. I see no reason this should be $15 as a remaster. $30-$40.

Actually, the game started out on PS3 as a digital download only game. The lack of content in the Vita game, and the sudden ending to the story really emphasize this. I don't think it would have been $60 at release no matter what system it was on.

$40 sounds good to me for the physical release, but it's not like I wouldn't buy it at $60. $15 is too low though.

Never played the original, so this is awesome. The announcement of a sequel is just icing on the cake. This is a great announcement

Ah, interesting.

Certainly, they probably want to hype up the need for people to support the remaster first before anything else.

Snoozer. Dude. What are you talking about? In saying it's nuts to suggest this be a $15 release, regardless of the format.
Its a straight remaster of a portable game with no real remake enhancements.....why does everyone think its crazy that I think it should be really cheap?

No it would not...GR1 is not a $60 game no matter which way you cut it

I kind of agree with snoozer that it shouldnt be a $60 game, but it shouldnt be 15 either.

30-40 and im ok.

After all we get 3 uncharted games for $60

I enjoyed GR but never finished it, might be tempted to pick up the remaster cheap.

GR2 looks great though, the move to console was a wise one.

I agree that it shouldn't be 60$, that would be a 3 year old port being more expensive then when it originally released, but at 15$ might as well don't bother xD

Yes it is? In what world is GR1 NOT a $60 console game?

In the world where it is a 3 year old remaster of a game which released at 40$.

As previously stated, it should not be charged full price as the port adds little more than "ooh look so shiny". $30-$40 at the most, if this was a just world. Of course, we know that's not going to happen and that's pretty shitty.

It has very average gameplay and not a ton of content, and doesnt look so great compared to pretty much any full release current gen title?

Seeing as you've played the game and loved it, I'm kind of shocked you're saying this. Gravity Rush absolutely has enough polish and content to be a $60 game. What on earth?

Anyway your argument doesn't make sense to me. In a world where Shovel Knight and Mighty No.9 are getting physical releases, what's wrong with Gravity Rush getting one?

It will be $40. Did you miss the release of Tearaway Unfolded?
