Gravity rush 2 is beautiful, but its very frustrating.

There is so much to love about gravity rush 2. The art style and sound track are top notch, and its so much fun to fly around and mess with your different gravity powers. With so many good things going for it, why do so many missions in the game go out of there way to be tedious and not fun? Its like you start these boarderline broken stealth missions that the game is riddled with, particularly in the main story, and all the fun and energy that the game had is just sucked right out for these bs trial and error exercises in tedium. The sheer abundance of these terrible stealth missions in the main story and side quests is making me really consider trading the game in. And i fucking love the first game, i even got the platinum. They got so many things right with this thing but most of the mission design doesnt seem to capitalize on any of it. Anyway rant over, this was just really making me mad because I want to love this game.

It's weird because they have all this awesome powers and the controls are better than in the first game and yet they take them out from you too many times.

I guess they wanted to give it more variety but that's not always a good solution IMO, especially when we are talking with a game with a peculiar and original gameplay like this.

I feel like the first one was a more focused game on that regard.

Its really bumming me out. This game does a lot of things better than the first, but the more i think about it, the more Im realizing the first may have been a better game

I just beaten the game and I kind of think GR1 was better too. Mind you 2 is awesome and does some things better, but yeah, there are some annoying things in 2, like the issue in OT, repetitive rifts in comparison to the ones in the first game, and the messy story. Mean while 2 has better controls and gameplay and Para Lao is the better city, and it looks beautiful.

Frustrating? Isn't too harsh?
Maybe you bought a fake Gravity Rush 2

I don't mind the stealth missions as much as I mind the repeated challenge tablets. Stealth missions were pretty easy and not nearly as repetitive.

Yeah I feel like the game hamstrings itself with poor quests. It could be a 9/10 game with better quests instead it's about an 8.

The main quests are fine, but you're right OP, some of the side quests are flipping awful. And this is from someone that finished every single one of them.

The stealth, and the multiple types of stealth, is pretty frustrating. It took me out of the loop in story missions...thankfully, the side missions offered a change of pace when the story missions went overboard with stealth. So playing it like story-side-story can alleviate some the frustration with the stealth missions

My biggest gripes with the game?
The abrupt false ending, with a credit roll...like why? With how abrupt the game did that, its quite clear that wasn't the true ending. The cherry on top of the cake though was locking the final set of story missions (the ones that cover Kat's backstory, one of the main selling points of the game) behind conversations you need to find scattered around the world, with no indication you're supposed to do that. I had to look up a Youtube walkthrough to find out what to do...smh

The mission design is really terrible and made me drop the game after a few hours. I don't rememebr GR1 being this bad in that aspect.

Really enjoying it so far, but yeah...the side-quests.

At least stealth can be mitigated somewhat by sniping everyone with rocks, but it's still a nuisance.

I've been skipping a lot of conversations. Is this going to screw me out of the final missions? Or can I just go back and talk to anyone I missed?

There are some oddball side quests but I'd rather have that than more fetch quests. At least they try to do neat stuff.

I love the game but I for some reason it's very hard for my brain to keep changing directions every few seconds in order to hit certain targets.

Stresses me a lot and I hate it cuz otherwise I do love the game as a whole.

Still I could finish it and I enjoyed the 'real' ending.

Nah 2 is by far better. 1 was just eh.... But GR2 does have a lot of filler. Overall it's much better gameplay.

you can't miss anything

Yeah I agree. 16 hours in and I'm very disappointed wish the game overall. Some of the story missions are great but most of them are pretty bad to be honest, a few of them are even horrible. And there is way too much filler quests, don't waste my time with pointless open world fetching. They should have made it a more...like the first game. Such a shame because The game is beautiful and plays great.

Just played mission 14 and could not proceed without leaving the game and closing the application.
Last side mission needed me to run on rails, jump on things and it is just no fun and only angers me.

I was looking forward to GR2 since its announcement, no since I finished the first one on Vita.
But the mission and sidequest design is sometimes borderline bad, I really question if someone really let that playtested through QA.

Person markers in sidequests sometimes do not trigger the next step in the mission.

Maybe the game should not have focused on quantity but instead on quality missions. At the end a max 15 hours game would be tighter and better in pacing than what we got now.

Really not muuch excited until I platinum GR2. It is a shame and really wish the IP never comes back again. I know it is harsh, but I am really dissappointed. :(

That's a weird thing to think, considering there is improvements in GR2 compared in 1, a third entry could get best of both worlds and be the best Gravity Rush game.

Not that I think we will ever get a GR3. Franchise is dead, I fear.

I played the demo for like 40 minutes trying to get a handle on the controls and just couldn't do it. I really, really wanted to like the game, but "frustrating" is exactly how I would describe the experience. Such a beautiful game with an interesting world and setting. I'm really sad I couldn't get into it.

Gravity Rush 2 is absolutely fantastic. There is a lot of work that went into the game. Gameplay wise it is a massive step up from GR1, especially the Stasis controls.

... Being said, I can't really disagree with the sentiments about the Side Missions. There are, oddly enough, too many, and a lot of them aren't fun.

Also at least one of the story missions
destroying the arms of the living city
was more frustrating than enjoyable.

So far the first two hours have been pretty forgettable and have pretty much stopped me from coming back to the game. Last night I thought I'd try again and ended up just listening to the opening music and watching the little gameplay snippets before turning it off for something else.

I really like the aesthetic and the idea but somehow both the first and now this are just leaving me filled with tedium.

GiantBomb? This game is far from boring , what make it boring is GiantBomb.

I've been finding the game very boring. The missions are just bad and drawn out. Not even just the stealth ones. Like right now I'm in the middle of a mission trying to find some guy by pressing square on a bunch of random NPCs hoping 1 will point me in the right direction.

Gravity Rush 2 is just spread a whole lot thinner. I think it's better overall just because the extra additions to Kat make her a more well rounded character to control, but the shift to such a large world and lackluster mission design make it a lateral move from GR1 in a lot of ways, rather than the strict improvement I was hoping for.

There's more gravity styles! ....But a lot of fights restrict your moveset.
There's more missions! ....But a bunch of them suck now. I don't want to use my almighty gravity powers for a poorly defined stealth mission.
There's more story! ....But it's rushed and obtuse when it matters.

The game is still fun, but it's messy. I haven't played the original in a few months, but it feels like if there were 4 shitty missions in GR1, there's 12 in GR2.

I skipped to around 18 minutes in and Jesus Christ, are the GiantBomb guys garbage at games.

I think they're deliberately garbage out of disinterest.
Like I occasionally saw clips of Jeff back in his Gamespot days just sort of doing badly at a game and eventually shaking his head either at the game or the camera, sometimes before dropping the controller.

Im really invested in the story, thats why im considering just pushing through til the very end, but at the same time im
Not having fun in these missions anymore. I could just trade it, buy resident evil, and youtube the ending, but i almost feel like id be doing this series a disservice

ok? then do it? if you're not having fun i don't see why you would continue to play a game

The stealth missions are very forgiving for the most part.

What bugs me the most are that the checkpoints for side missions aren't very forgiving. Especially when you consider the fail states in them are so easy to fall into.

That makes very little sense...

You can just ignore the sidequest and play the main missions. The game can be beaten easily without upgrading.

Lmaoooooooooo. This might be the best/worst criticism I've seen of GB.

Thanks for the laugh, I needed it today :)

It definitely starts slow, but once it opens up and you start doing side quests and gold medaling challenges, it's hard to put down.

Im pretty far into the story, around chapter 17 i belive. There have been some great moments and bosses but some of these story and side missions are tedious beyond belife. I dont remember the first game having this problem to this extent.

I've loved it so far. They are switching up the missions here and there. Even the same olds have a bit of a twist that make them uniquely GR. I'm only on episode 8 and I've mainly been doing side missions (only get to play 21-3 hours/day). So it may get monotonous down the road, but from what I've played so far, it's an improvement over GR which was already a great game. But it is far from boring or frustrating to me.

The charming writing and the unique and/or hilarious scenarios outweigh any of the really annoying ones for me.

At the end of the day, still better than most side quests I've experienced, especially as of late.

First game this year, first disappointment. Not happy at all about it. Quit around chapter 10.

The main missions are garbage up to that point. Barely any Navi whatsoever. Fighting military got boring real quick. The cities were also annoying to me, because flying straight up and far between islands is no fun.

The first one was certainly flawed and the combat here is much better but I'd still rather replay it for a third time than continue playing this.
