How does a movie ending get old?

Some twist endings are great the first time but don't have nearly the impact in repeat viewings. Some emotional endings start to seem banal or trite on repeat viewings. "Never gets old" is subjective of course though. Like, I love The Usual Suspects and still think it has one of the best endings in all of movie history, but I know there are people that don't agree and think the movie doesn't work once you think too much about it.

I was thinking the same thing when I seen this post. I never liked the song but the way it ramps up and the ending ramps up is awesome. I really liked those movies by Rob but never checked out his newer ones. 31 looks cool but only for the art so far.
