Tony Scott's Revenge

Really, really underrated. Fantastic movie.

Other than the ones that have been mentioned, I thought The Revenant doubled as a competent revenge movie and an unbelievable flyer for Montana/South Dakota tourism.

Gotta agree with Oldboy. The Korean one is fantastic, but the American version is entertaining too...not as good, but still worth watching.

The Revenant is a pretty good one.

Tokaido Yotsuya kaidan
The Virgin Spring
Kuroneko
Hamlet
Darkman
Rebels of the Neon God
Unforgiven

There is no shortage of great revenge flicks.

I'm going to second Irreversible, you'll get something out of that you rarely see in other revenge stories.

I've seen some of these, but also gotten some great ideas. Blue Ruin was already on my radar but I sorta forgot about it before actually watching it. Now I definitely plan to.

I've seen I Saw the Devil and while I do like grisly revenge movies -- It did test my limits a bit. The movie is intense and intensely dark, so -- It's not for everyone.

Thanks for the recommendations so far guys, interested in hearing about any more you may have.

Revanche is as good as i've seen so far.

Not sure if it qualifies along side action films like Man from Nowhere though.

more similar to Man from nowhere, you may enjoy:

New World.
Bitter Sweet Life.
A company Man.
Yellow Sea.
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance.
Lady Vengeance.
Perhaps I Saw the Devil, too.
Bedevilled, too... less action and more gore, though.

Not exactly all about Revenge, but they get that similar vibe you're looking for, i think.

All these ans you forgot Old Boy?

Old Boy also being a korean thriller shares natural similarities in terms of style. There are loads of koreans thrillers with similar vibes.

Ichi the Killer has nothing to do with that. It's more of a extravaganza kind of a movie.
Ah alright, thanks!

HaraKiri looks rad from the poster, I'll have to check it out

Wait....am I the first one to mention Once Upon a Time in the West? Its scope is a lot larger than just 'revenge flick' but that's a key part of it.

Greatest revenge movie of all time. You know it in your heart to be true.

Good luck finding a dvd copy for any less than 40 bucks, let alone a bluray.

I Saw the Devil started off as horror but turned into a comedy. The guy kicked his ass over and over again. I thought that was hilarious.

I couldn't stand a single character in that movie and wished them all dead by the end. I think it's a trash film.

Surprised no one has mentioned The Revenant (did I miss it?). I haven't seen it yet but it got a lot of press on release.
