My Kindle broke. eInk screen failed. SAD FACE!

I had a LOT of books on it. I do love it so.

So I go to Amazon.com's returns page. Pressed a button that said, "Call Me Now" (it's 8:43pm) and MY PHONE RINGS RIGHT AWAY and a very pleasant fellow (Scott) gets on, makes sure it's not a 'tard error (turn off, plug in, reset) and then says, "You're right sir, the eInk screen has failed. A new Kindle is on its way via overnight shipping for free. It should be there tomorrow.

Total elapsed time from Sad Face to free Kindle replacement: 8 Minutes.

No fucking around. No questions. No condescension.

Damn? No. Double-Damn.

:lol :lol :lol
That's fucking awesome.

Yep, Amazon has AMAZING customer service.

Last month I had a disc missing from my six season Curb Your Enthusiasm set, and I emailed them at 6 AM and, 8 or 9 minutes later, had an entirely new set on it's way with overnight shipping.

I had a similar experience. My last order of books were damaged and they fixed it immediately. Best customer service.

Now I am a bit scared they are going to send me a Kindle 2 instead of a Kindle Sweetness MP3 SD Card Awesome Number One.

I have had to deal with amazon customer service. They are very good. Sent me a replacement right away.

I was going to mention my experience with Nintendo fixing my DS despite me admitting that I had taken it apart and clearly voided my warranty, but you win.

That's awesome. If only Verizon could have great service too...

T-Mobile has the best CS of the Big 4. I've been with all of them and T-Mobile is leaps and bounds above the rest.

That sounds futuristic almost :lol. Makes me miss Dell's customer service :/.

I had a graphics card fail on a laptop a few years old. I ran diagnostics, googled the problem/error code and determined it was 100% in fact the graphics card. I called Dell and they wanted to charge $40 to diagnose the problem. I explained to them I had already and they told me they themselves had to do it in order for me to order another card from them. And the $40 wasn't deductible from the final price of the card I was going to have to pay for :/. In warranty=your best friends, out of warranty=s.o.l. /rant

amazon is the STRAIGHT TRUTH! I bought a 24 inch wide HP Business monitor, I had a stuck pixel on it, I called saying it was defective, they sent me a new one the next day 1 day rush for free, that one had some dead pixels on it, they sent me back another one the day after no questions asked. I <3 them so0o much.

Super great will be if it arrives set up with the same name and kindle email address as your busted one, and automatically downloads exactly owe books that were on your dead one.

(Still damn great though)

Did they say what to do with the broken one?

Edit: oh fuck. Sorry :/

Pretty well known Amazon has some of the greatest customer service ever. Best story for me was I accidentally had them ship a game to an old address, told customer service, they tried to get the UPS guy not to deliver, delivered anyways, shipped me a new copy without confirming if they ever got that other copy back.

They really are the definition of how a retailer should treat a customer.

EDIT: wow did not realize this got bumped from 2009.

I bet they have a routing setup where as soon as you hit that button a guy's phone calls you automatically(assuming that guy is signed in or whatever(or gal). That's pretty neat.

EDIT: Typed text from four years ago looks almost the same.

Yeah, Amazon CS is awesome.

A close second to me is, shockingly enough, Barnes & Noble. If you receive an item that is damaged or flawed in any way, they will also send out a replacement with super quick shipping with very few questions asked. They usually don't even request for you to mail the damaged item back to them.

EDIT:

That thread bump, lol. Why in the world did you do that?

Reading thread title I immediately thought amazon. I have had numerous situations like the OP and they always take care of me. I even accidentally bought a mp3 album with 1 click and they refunded me. They are by far the greatest.

I agree, Amazon customer service is the bomb.

Also, New Balance was pretty great. Really nice people helped me out on a messed up order.

Amazon sent me the wrong case last week. Emailed them, refunded me, let me keep the case, and shipped me the correct order with over night shipping. It's truly incredible what they can do.

Where most Customer Services might see it as "losing money", Amazon sees it as "let's do the smart thing and treat our customers like people".

I thought it was super awesome when the guy at Claim Jumper brought me a free half-sandwich when he saw I dropped mine while trying to get it into a to-go container, but this is even better. Nicely done, Amazon!

Sounds awesome
The only thing I have to top it:

I had a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. I drunkenly got home after a night out, tripped over my PC, breaking the USB dongle I had in the front of it.

I called Logitech to explain - told them the exact truth in hopes they'd let me buy the dongle on it's own, as I didn't know if I could get one otherwise without buying the mouse and keyboard with it.

The girl on the phone laughed at my story and said for making her laugh, she'd send me a replacement out for free.
