No one can ever deny that U2 are the more successful but which band do you think is better?

Dancing in the Moonlight resonates with me more than any U2 I've ever heard. But, I will admit I've never heard of Thin Lizzy before reading your OP.

Tough call. I dont think U2 has released a good album since 2000, and in that regard I think I prefer Thin Lizzy.

Thin Lizzy. I am biased though there is some U2 I like. But Philip Lynott oozed charisma and I grew up on classic Lizzy. Listen to "I'm Still in Love With You" from Live And Dangerous. Epic.

Yeah between the two Thin Lizzy is pretty much infinitely cooler. I don't even really like classic rock but Thin Lizzy is just fucking gooooood.

U2 is probably "greater" though, in the dictionary sense of the world. There are probably more people out there touched by their music in some way than Thin Lizzy. And say what you will about him, but Bono is one of the first rock stars to leverage his public image towards political causes, he is extremely famous and influential figure I think virtually anyone would recognize.

But I'd still rather listen to Thin Lizzy any day.

Cranberries (just for Zombie), else the Pogues.

As someone who's listened to rock/metal etc since forever U2 are horrific.

I had to Google it. I hadn't a clue they were from Dublin.
They really don't sound like it. Then again the only other Irish group that I know is Irish that I listen to is The Cranberries. Delores...she doesn't hide the fact that she's Irish and I love her for it. For some odd reason people claim she can't sing, but her voice is beautiful.

She's a great singer, but she's a lunatic. lol
