Greatest Video Game Music on Amazon for $2.99

I wish I had known about that. Being able to say "I'm going to listen to the London Philharmonic Orchestra play video game music" would make me sound cool and classy without any trace of nerd.

Call of Duty 4's menu theme? Uhh...well, it's interesting ambience, but not exactly what I'd put up against BF2's theme.

But I don't see a single Falcom song on there?
What? Not even Innocent Primeval Breaker? What's the point of this album, then?

This is hardly a list of the greatest video game music.

I'm raging hard at that track list. And the album cover. Hard.

Why? It perfectly describes the current state of video games. Good history.

Popular/well known video game themes orchestrated.

"Music from the Most Popular Video Games" should be the title. Either that or video games didn't exist before 2004.

The sad thing is, outside of the iconic Nintendo themes, MGS, FF and Tetris, I have no idea what some of these themes sound like, and I've played most of these games.

There's nothing particularly iconic about most of these tracks.

I meant to the general public. Most of these pieces were used in advertising and title screens and such.

edit: Would have loved some Guild Wars on here though. I guess Oblivion will have to do.

I listened to a few tracks, Nate's theme is great, the MW2 theme is surprisingly decent. I really wanted to hate the Angry Birds track, but it isn't horrible either.

Really needed Metroid though.

But I dunno, there's some cool stuff on here. Soviet Connection played by a full orchestra? That's so weird I can't not buy this.

God Damn. They come out every year, but I always seem to forget just how badass Halo music can be. That shit can really pump you up.

Was just thinking this. Good stuff. I would love a second volume of lesser known music or something.

Seems much more like a collection of very popular games over actually picking good music.

Also, with how insanely varied and imaginative video games can be, they make a military themed cover art?

Listening to it now, and it's pretty great.

Most of it is pretty popular stuff (Angry Birds? Come on) but there's some legitimately good music on here. It's just all from relatively recent, popular games.

The strangest part, honestly, is that the opening track is Advent Rising. That game had great music, but nobody played it and it sucked.

Bought the Album Sunday at Amazon Germany and most tracks are amazing even the hated Angry Birds Theme. My favorite is the Zelda Theme so far.

Some really questionable cutrate-Hans-Zimmer* track selections, but I really like some of the arrangements. I hate Rovio, but I think the Angry Birds theme is pretty awesome.

* and I loathe the full-rate version

Man, you guys are being too harsh. Obviously the name of the album is ridiculous, but the actual tracks are generally very well orchestrated. It's good music regardless of which tracks were selected.

I feel like most of the people bitching would want just more Nintendo and Final Fantasy tracks, which is just as bad as what we have here.

Bought for $1.99. I'll listen to it in the car on the ride home. Though I have no idea how a Zelda Suite was only 4 minuets long :< It can't be shorter than like 12 in my opinion.

I'm all for these cd's and concerts they have been putting on like video games live but it would be nice to see new music it's like each of these types of comps all play the same songs. There is plenty more games out there with awesome music
