I wanted to try a Kamodo Grill and didn't want to shell out more than grand for a BGE. I'ts not as good as a ceramic one but it's pretty damn good, it holds temperature really well, close the vents and the charcoal stops and you can reuse it. I'm really happy with it.

I read somewhere you can smoke using a BGE without refilling the charcoal, thats how much it retains heat. Normally you have to refill the charcoal every few hours.

I smoke consistantly on my kettle grill without refilling. I can get a good solid 8-10 hours.

There's a reason why weber has been selling the same grill for ages. Perfection doesn't need a redesign.

You can use the Minion method in a kettle to maintain long job temperatures for up to 15 hours w/o having to refill coal a single time. I also use this method for 8-10h spareribs.

Gas grills are far more convenient, that's for sure, but when I am grilling, I am not looking for convenience; I wan't the smoke, the smell of charcoal and wood, the beer, the whole event.

What do you mean? It's more than 6' away. The BBQ is nearly 8' wide.
