GT Sport E3 Build - Massive Upgrade

Boy, those drafting physics on the Dottinger Höhe of the Nordschleife are overdone...

That being said, I kinda trust John on physics and FFB feel, even if he's usually more on the optimistic side (as everyone working for ISRTV) and don't share his forgiveness in the sound department. But if he says it's kinda close to Assetto Corsa in feel, that is... man, YESS.

Is that stuttering and screen tearing I'm seeing in that direct feed video? Not on the 30fps stuff, but I'm seeing it w/ the 60fps footage. God, I hope not and that it's just bad encoding. :(

The 30fps replay footage is insanely good, though.

Edit: That dithering on the trees too...

Yeah, these pics are not really screaming massive upgrade as the thread title suggests.
There is still a lot they have to fix, the game is still too rough. But nothing that can't be fixed until release. And it should, given that they are working so many years only on one game, we should expect a high quality and standard racer, especially in the visual department which was once the best of the best in the industry.

This thread... Oh my glob!

Started out very nice and ended in a bloodbath.

Gran Turismo has become the Call of Duty of driving games on Neogaf, it can do no right.

Fortunately, as with Call of Duty gaf is the minority and the game will still sell multiple millions more than the competition.

All I have to say is what the fuck were they thinking showing off that awful footage at reveal when they had this in the works. They probably lost a lot of people who will never find out improvements have been made.

He says that game was fun but didn't like the gameplay and physics in the first E3 build, but after that he tested the latest build in PD office, it's physics was a lot better and he liked it and compare it to Assetto Corsa PS4.
Graphics are really really good in some aspects, but in some other aspects not so much. overall graphics are really good from interiors to tracks and cars, but AA and IQ...
Engine sounds are pretty good and much better than previous GTs, although they can be better. but those tire sounds again... :|
He complains about bumper cars and lack of damage too, but Kaz told him that final game will have damage.
In the end, he says GTS has great potential and after testing 2 builds, he thinks the game is going to be a really solid game for PS4 owners.

I'm having deja vu. This is GT5 all over again.

The upgrades only concern the replays, not so much the in-game stuff.

All these different builds day to day sure are strange. I guess they're completely focused on completing the game rather than taking months off to prepare demos like other companies do.

Had a press release sent to me from Sony

Did it say exactly where the demo will be? Goodwood is a big show.

Edit - found this:

Gran Turismo Sport demo at Goodwood Festival of Speed

21st June 2016

marks the start of a racing revolution

A special demo version of the highly-anticipated Gran Turismo® Sport game for PlayStation®4 will make a high-profile debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (23-26 June). With the game due on sale on 18 November 2016 in the UK (and on 16 November in the rest of Europe), the expected crowd of over 200,000 automotive enthusiasts provides the perfect setting to showcase the latest developments to the award-winning Gran Turismo series that is revving up on PS4™ for the first time.

Polyphony Digital Inc. and Sony Computer Entertainment are offering visitors to this year’s Volkswagen stand, the chance to be amongst the first in the UK to get hands on with the latest in the award winning Gran Turismo franchise, Gran Turismo Sport, before it speeds onto PS4 later this year. Featuring the Brands Hatch track and a selection of VW cars all recreated in breath-taking detail, this special demo will truly get your pulse racing.

Gran Turismo Sport will also be playable within the prestigious TAG Heuer Drivers Club. Here drivers will be able to take their seat in a custom built PlayStation gaming pod and get access to some of the fastest, most desirable driving machines on the planet and experience the thrill of speed without limitation.

Festival of Speed founder, Lord March, commented, “We are incredibly excited to welcome the Gran Turismo game back to Goodwood for the fourth consecutive year and equally delighted that the Festival of Speed has been chosen as a platform to showcase the very exciting new Gran Turismo Sport game.”

“I have always been a big admirer of the Festival of Speed,” commented Kazunori Yamauchi. “We share a common passion for innovation with so many car manufacturers and we felt Goodwood Festival of Speed provides a fitting location for the UK public to enjoy playing Gran Turismo Sport for the first time.”

As its name suggests Gran Turismo Sport is all about racing and this is highlighted by its pioneering partnership with the FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) that will certify two online championships that are part of the game. The Nations Cup and the Manufacturers Fan Cup are expected to be hotly contested and reflect the ever-growing popularity of eSports.

I'll take the NX way in which he chats in his vids (multiple edits included) than over the recent double host approach of DF which are mega cringeworthy...painfully unnatural...

OT: With 5 months to go I'm very confident we'll continue seeing improvements to the underlying tech of the game...I don't imagine everything with get fixed but I'm sure frame rate WILL get the most love. Having said that it's actually performing better than I thought...I'm also looking forward to the Neo version which will no doubt have all the extra bells and whistles see. In the replays but at 60fps...

Hype continuing to head north....

Thanks and yes, guilty as charged, I do need to work on that, will sort out some time with you on those tips.

I like the depth of his analysis but once again it sounds like he's reading the script for the very first time. Pauses and inflection are all over the place which makes the dialogue pretty clumsy and hard to follow at times.

Anyway, hope Kaz is working hard on that frame rate and v-synch.

Duly noted and thanks for the feedback, I do try to cover the dialogue as often as possible after I write it, that said I do not find it "clumsy" but certainly I have room for improvement.

Really appreciate the share and link, thanks very much *insert bro fist here!

this has full VR support right? is it gonna be the best VR graphics we'll see on PSVR for a while yeah?

Yup, although they did not show it yet. I expect PSVR demos will be up by the time EU conventions start rolling [Gamescom is already near].

I wouldn't say a major graphical difference but they definitely did fix some things from the reveal trailer.

Hope VR is good. I've thought about cancelling my preorder of it, but GT could cause me to keep it. My main concern is how much VR will bring down the fidelity.

wow

So GT Sport and Resident Evil VII...I think im sold on VR with that alone

VR in this will be great, I do hope that a native 90/120Hz mode is added through even if just for the NEO. Desperate to try a racing game in VR with reprojection and without i.e. 90>

I really liked Goodwood Festival of Speed in GT6. there was something different in that track and its time trials were really fun.

I hope they bring it back in GTS.

Any recommendations for a great wheel setup? <$500

Yeah, 'clumsy' was the wrong word really, so sorry about that - my own clumsy dialogue coming back to bite me on the ass, I guess... :P

Like I said, I really do like the content of your analyses (including the script), but for me a lot of the meaning is lost if the speech is full of inappropriate pauses and unsuitable inflection. You obviously know what you are talking about, but the delivery doesn't always convey this: it sometimes comes across like a layman reading a technical manual out loud for the very first time without fully understanding the content, which evidently isn't the case here. I'm no natural orator myself and hate speaking in public, but unfortunately have to do it as part of my job. The best advice anyone ever gave me was to develop the content but never to follow a script. Speak from knowledge and experience, using a list of single-word prompts if you need them to keep you on track. It's a really good way to sound natural and inspire confidence in those listening.

Fuck, that sounded pompous. Sorry.

It does look pretty good. I just hope they implement damage (which they said they would) and improve the sounds. Which I don't think will happen :(

This game does look much improved. However, I really want to try it on PSVR. I hope they let you play it in a store somewhere by release.

This is nothing like GT5.

Inconsistent graphics, sub standard engine sounds and annoying tire sounds, bumper cars and Kaz promising damage are exactly like GT5. All these things should have been rectified by now. Going to be interesting seeing the damage because in GT5 they had that bizarre system where damage was unlocked.

Nothing needs to be rectified by now at all, it's not finished. They only need to rectify the things they're going to rectify by launch.

I think it's more important to get damage right. GT5 a procedural damage system but that got canned because everyone complained.

What would be better right now for GT Sport...that procedural system refined or the normal plain and uninteresting bumps and scrapes that's commonplace?

I just wish we all stopped complaining so much because every time we do something get's changed for the worse or completely dumped for no good reason.
