2007 without mentioning PGR4 or GT5?
2007 is only second to 1998.
GT5
lol
You can't be serious.
2007 without mentioning PGR4 or GT5?
2007 is only second to 1998.
1998 also had Unreal Tournament, Tribes and Grim Fandango.
Counter-Strike and NOLF were also out in 2000.

2015 was a damn good year, guys.
For people that like open world games anyhow.
Arguably the four GOAT of their genre. How can you put 2015 on the list when barely any time has passed since then? We need some historical perspective that comes with distance. Wait a few years. 2004 needs to be on the list.
Half-Life 2
Halo 2
GTA: San Andreas
World of Warcraft
ESPN NFL 2k5
Metroid Prime 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
Katamari Damacy
Viewtiful Joe
Ninja Gaiden
4. 2007 (Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Crysis, Mass Effect, Rock Band, Uncharted, The Witcher, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Halo 3, Portal)
2007 is my most overrated year ever; it doesn't even crack my top 10.
GT actually had this exact same countdown a few years back and put 2007 in 1st ahead of 1998, 2001...etc. Opinions are opinions of course, but that shit surprised the hell out of me.
Aside from Mario Galaxy, i agree.2007 is my most overrated year ever; it doesn't even crack my top 10.

2007 was the turning point of the last 8 years and last gen, it is a very important year.
Not to mention Ni no Kuni, Puppeteer, DmC, Persona 4 Golden in Europe (okay, I'm cheating a bit there), Guacamelee, Resogun. It was glorious.
How can you disagree with 2007?That year was fucking non-stop crazy releases, it was when last-gen kicked into gear.Holy cow what an awful, just outstandingly terrible list.
Gametrailers I didn't think it was physically possible, but you both suck and blow.
2005 no.
2007 NO!
2013 is this serious, Joke list?
2015 BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
1996 is missing. Mario 64, Quake, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider and so much more.

We're still waiting for this gen's 2007.
Too many bloated open world games, no thanks.2015 nukes 2007 with the energy of its own sun. Higher peaks, more variety, it's not even close.

For all the people saying that The Witcher 3 and Bloodborne were the only noteworthy games released in 2015, I would like to present the following:
2015 nukes 2007 with the energy of its own sun. Higher peaks, more variety, it's not even close.
Playing Ni No Kuni for the first time right now.
Lovin it.
Too many bloated open world games, no thanks.
There's not a single game in 2015 that rises to the level of Half Life 2: Episode 2, Portal, or Super Mario Galaxy. What reality are you living in?

Seriously surprised at the lack of 2004
I certainly agree with you regarding 2013, as I consider that a pretty disappointing year. For 2015 though I certainly think that an absolutely massive amount of great lesser known titles, a resurgence of AA games, the continuing growth of amazing and unique PC games and outstanding additions to several mostly abandoned genres (Cities: Skylines for city builders, Dirt Rally for rally sims and simulation racing in general, Sunless Sea and SOMA for games focusing on the writing, a wide variety of traditional/old school RPGs such as Trails in the sky SC and Pillars of Eternity etc.) outweigh Bloodborne and TW3 by enough of a margin that 2015 still deserves to be on the list. Gametrailers probably would not agree though, and it's clear that those two games played a big role on the year appearing on the list.I don't disagree that there were other great games, but think that both 2013 and 2015 would not make this list by removing one game. That is, 2013 wouldn't make it without having the rest of games plus both TLOU and GTAV, and 2015 with the rest of games plus both TW3 and Bloodborne, so they are in a delicate position just making it past the threshold.
The one where a mechanically flawless game released(MSV), another game delivered an absolute master class in art direction and design(Bloodborne), and the richest, most 'lived in' world in gaming history was created(Witcher 3).

also HL2 is overrated. I didn't even bother to finish it.
Man 1998 was surely something.
However 2002 belongs higher, especially over 2015.
