I really wish PD would switch to the shadowing system that God of War 3 used and I don't care if adds another six months to development.

The same type of shadow effect you see in GT5 are in GoW3 also. I think it was Fafalada that said that there's no way to eliminate that shadow effect this gen.

Er...I don't think that's right at all. They wrote a special shadow engine for GOW3, and it looks awesome w/o the shimmery jagged effect.

It still has that jittery effect. Watch the scene where Kratos holds up the head of Helios. You can see the same jittery shadow effect. It's visible in other scenes as well.

That's very different from what we see in GT5.

I meant putting driver-specific sponsors in the textures, a really minute detail that's easy to overlook but actually adds a lot.
I see.

But still... I think each driver has a full model. Not just a face with a few personal stickers here and there.
I don't think you can for example drive a Ford with Gardemeister.

That's 2008 Suzuki Gardemeister, as in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNIgNys3FbM

they also better fix the broken thumbs when paddle/ring shifting.

Full 3D modelled switch cord with own true-life physics and full shadow mapping says "Hi Vanilla, how's your day?".

I heard the new famitsu has a feature on GT5, saying the release date is now july 14th and june 23rd for japan... french website published believing it's not a april's fool joke.

While i find it hard to believe, i'm curious to see if anyone has picked up the latest Famitsu to check if there's anything on the game.

Come to think of it, if PD choose april 1st to announce the release date it would be veryfunny :lol

Oh crap, April 1st. Forgot that today was silly day.

wow, detail is just insane, reflection on even small metalic parts of the belt on the drivers or some stickers on the door of that GT car in Nurbugring are amazing. Please, stop teasing and release the game XD

OMG! Motor toon! :lol

Exactly, this one is not that farfetched. He said similar things in an interview last year. A new cart game would be cool. Although Modnation is out soon.

I hope Modnation racers can give a similar type of feel to the original Motor Toon. I had so much fun with Motor Toon, would love something new that like that.

How about a (semi-)realistic karting game ?

The above screens show "Kart Attack", by what was then still known as Blimey. Announced in 2007 for PSN, but soon after never heard from again. The studio then sort of fell apart and a new team - Slightly Mad Studios - was put to work on Shift.

The worst part about this day isn't the blatantly fake shit, it's the fact that real news is released during this day and there's no way of telling if it's fake or not. CV&G just posted what appears to be a legit article on GT5 (nothing about it sounds bogus) but there's no way of telling if it's real or not.

Damage on C4 WRC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p1yxWUO9nc&feature=player_embedded

Nothing new really, can see the door swing from the cockpit.

The reflections in the side mirrors are priceless as the doors swing. That said, there's a bit of invisible walls in some areas, as if the fence/barrier has a protective invisible shield extending some 3-6 inches. But in some areas, the impact is with the actual fence. I wonder why that is.

GT5 AI Replay TVR Tuscan Speed 6 Tuned on Nürburgring

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YZCTHVRdvI&feature=player_embedded

Thanks to mimaximax @ GTP for the video.

Some assumptions made by mimaximax:
Some details : you may had noticed Gran Turismo, Polyphony Digital and Union Jack flag on the car's body (hint of livery editor ?). Tuning look subtle but seems to be quite advanced : bigger wheel with Goodyear Eagle semi-slick tires, bigger brakes. Carbon fiber, front bumper, skirts, wing-mirrors and wing. Exhaust is redone, it's not at the back anymore but on the left side. Lighter Recaro seats.

I so hope he's right.

Those Gran Turismo tuned cars were in Prologue also. They're done by Polyphony (obviously), but they often have fairly extensive customization done to them

I think I'm going to pass on buying a wheel, I'm not that hardcore, and I need to save my money for other things.

That being said, I tried to play Prologue with a controller, and the cars all understeer like hell. How will I tune this in the full game? Will there be a sensitivity setting? Car tuning options?

That's pretty much what I was thinking.

Seriously SolidSnakex you should start your own GT web site! I just imagine you walking around with terabytes of GT info in your head! Share more of it with us! :lol

There are tuning options that can help you with it. In regards to wheels, you don't have to go all out. There are options that are more affordable, you could wait and see how "much" you get into GT5 before buying any type of wheel.

Don't worry about this. The demo was set in "pro physics" and when it's like that you most definetely need a wheel.
Just like Prologue, you will be able to put GT5 in "normal physics" mode and it will control like a charm with your controller.

.

Extensive customization looks like it's been something that they've been planning for awhile. Here's an interview from 06

IGN: What kind of customization will we be able to see in Gran Turismo HD? Will we be able to see a deeper level of customization than what has been seen in previous GT games? Like, will we be able to tune the aero parts of the car and add vinyls? Or will this newest GT continue to focus mainly on engine and suspension tuning?

Kazunori: (Brings up GT HD's car-select screen and selects a Skyline - which just so happens to fill up the entire screen.) We may not be able to provide this immediately off the bat when we launch, but the cars we are designing/modeling for PS3... you see that line separating the bumper from the body? That (bumper) comes off. Again, previously a car model in GT 4, it was one skin. Now you can take parts off, because the cars are made up of components. So for this Skyline, for instance, you can take off the front bumper and replace it with something else.

IGN: Is the plan to get licensed aero kits like C-West and Mugen? Or will all the aero kits be GT-original designs?

Kazunori: It would be a combination of both, actually.

http://cars.ign.com/articles/744/744294p2.html

With that said, I still doubt that there will be a deep livery editor.

The zooming is done by the player in the replay. If I remember it's triangle to zoom in when watching a replay.

Someone needs to gif 1:31 - 1:50 of that TVR vid. That shot is amazing.

TVR Tuscan Speed 6 Tuned

This particular baby will be my weapon of choice for all the sub 650PP races, period.

TVR cars are the pinnacle of choice in all Gran Turismo games, and they've never got the love they deserve - with honorable exception of TVR Cerbera LM from the first game, which was almost the best car in the game, thus earning many fandom points.

I would so love to finally get Sagaris in the series, I still do not understand how that masterpiece is still non-existant in the GT universe.

So nice to see that Tuscan finally got "Dream Car" status - it is more than deserved.

November can't come soon enough.

In other news, Qore confirmed that GT5 will support 3D (that was already expected considering the CES showing). Interestingly, every other game that's listed as supporting it is already out. So you'd think that Sony would want GT5 to launch near their 3D firmware update as a way of pushing it.

I've never been particularly fond of the TVR's, they just seem so underpowered to me. I'm not that familiar with the Sagaris in terms of specs, but I'm all for it if there's a performance boost. Car looks all kinds of sweet though!

So many kinds of awesome in one .gif.

The Sagaris has better power-to-weight ratio than a 2006 R8, but that's because it's lighter. No ABS or TCS though..

It would be great to see a full line up of TVR's in GT5. But as TVR don't exist anymore I wonder if it's possible. However they are supposedly making a comeback with a US sourced engine. Interesting.

The guys from InsideSimRacing are going to be at E3 this year. They're going to try to get an interview with Kaz. So that's at least one interesting interview we'll see with him that's actually from a gaming website instead of car magazines and websites.

Oh, okay. I was wondering why I couldn't steer with a gamepad.

You should still get a wheel though. Go with a DFGT as it's cheap. The GT series is one of those racing games (the only one that I can think of actually) that's actually programmed with a racing wheel in mind first. So you'll get a lot more enjoyment out of it with a wheel.

You don't play very many racing games I assume. From my time with the time trial, GTs biggest flaw is actually force feedback.
