You have to do the license tests and you get a car for completing each one plus an additional car for getting gold.

Yup, that's bullshit. The model was working for them before, so what changed? Other than an easy opportunity to rip people off, of course.

I don't see how they can match the prize car giveaway on the A-spec/B-spec considering the structure is different, and there's no more B-spec. I don't really see how it has to do with microtransactions. You can win more cars outside of Aspec.

Why exactly are you including A-Spec and B-Spec car lists in that GT5 list when GT6 doesn't have B-Spec, and when it's patched in it'll be part of A-Spec (which is what many people wanted after GT5)?

yeah and B-spec is coming later.. so (just) maybe we will get more prize cars also.

OP should update with 'ALL' the prize cars that you can get in GT6. Still less than all previous games but not as bad as initially posted.

Have to get golds on licenses, missions, and Goodwood.
Plenty of prizes, but more difficult to get.

Yeah, there are a lot. The car gifts seem to be better. Like all the "Level Tickets" in GT5 were balls. I always got these little shitbox cars.

Anyway... with ~400 more cars... I want a better payout.

EDIT: We should note that Endurance Races are no longer hours (or a day) long anymore. They are 24 minutes.

Microtransactions are why I canceled my GT6 preorder. It's the only way to try to make it stop... even though it probably won't. It's the future of gaming after all.

And it selling 1/5th of what GT 5 sold is proof of 2 things. 1. People are ready for next gen. and 2. People don't like this microtransaction system.

I highly doubt Forza 5 sold / will sell as well as Forza 4 for the exact same reasons. I know that it is why I havent bought it yet myself and never will. Gamers MUST start speaking with their wallets. It is the only power we have.

This microtransaction debate confuses me. If people really think Sony/PD was trying to force microtransactions on you, why on Earth would they have allowed Gamestop to give a preorder bonus of 25 cars worth in excess of 20 million in-game credits (worth about $150)? Wouldn't that have been the greatest preorder bonus ever? A "bonus" worth 2.5 times the retail price of the game itself?

This is crazy. If I didn't on on GAF I wouldn't even know there were microtransactions in GT6. It has never prompted me. It seems a lot more visible in Forza 5, judging from the GiantBomb quick looks. It'll actually probably end up selling better than Forza 4 because it's a pack-in in some territories.

This thread is a good way of showing whose played the game and who hasn't. The OP alone is incredibly misleading.

I don't really feel like the microtransactions have had any tangible effect on the in-game economy actually.

I've built up a garage of cars similar to GT5, and I can easily spend the bulk of it but have enough money to buy yet more cars/upgrades in a relatively short time.

Expensive cars will always take a bit of grinding to afford, but if you fancy buying a particular model then chances are you can afford it with minimal effort.

Gold events and races and you won't have issues.

It feels like I've been able to get enough money doing the campaign to buy the cars I want to drive and also make progression easily. Also, there is no obnoxious prompts or messages that harass you or tell you that there are micro transactions in the game.

Not the future, the past, Dead Space 1 started with time saver packs, and no-one really made such a stance as you are making until someone went a step too far.

That said it is ass that there's less prize cars in the campaign, but that comparison list is only representative of the career modes, then again it looks like they're going to give cars in vision GT which may boost the numbers up further.

Glad you also passed on reading the posts in this thread where it says the op is not accurate.

thrust is fewer 'free' cars in gt6, that part is accurate. As to the actual info, too many warriors/marketers and angry people to get to the bottom right now. Maybe in 6 months.

Gateway drug.

Why should there automatically be more or the same number of prize cars regardless of microtransactions? It's a different game! And why is it assumed that microtransactions had any impact on that? This thread is crazy!

Absolutely awful.

I'm glad to hear that the game has not sold well in relation to GT5. People speaking with their wallets!!

This is getting ridiculous (or ludicrous!). The OP needs editing ASAP.

God fucking dammit - 24minutes? Looking forward to some epic endurance racing was one of the disappointingly few reasons that's kept me playing GT6.

On topic. Micro transaction bullshit and my own personal perception of exaggeratedly slow progression are exactly why I felt happy spending an hour yesterday taking advantage of the credits glitch.

The game has definitely been restructured. Geared towards microtransactions? Maybe but I'm not sure yet. Seems to me that you don't need to buy much of anything. If you steer through the career with what you have, it seems you will win just about anything you need(minus a few exceptions, karts/hybrid). Even though I started with some anniversary cars and $1million credits, I haven't had the need to dip into that money yet to advance or tag in any of the gifted cars. I haven't had to grind races(yet?) and just move from one event to the next after I gold it. Money seems to accrue at about the same pace as previous games(offline) and the prize cars seem more valuable(for career advancement).

That said, I still don't like the idea of microtransactions, I just havent decided if the way they are implemented in this game have affected my experience.

Because MTs generate revenue, companies like revenue, so it isn't far fetched to think companies would want to rebalance or rejig to generate revenue. Whether it is noticeable or affects enjoyment will vary player by player.

Or it could be their wallets are empty because 2 next gen consoles released two weeks before the launch of this game.

Too early to proclaim people voted with their wallets on this.

I remember trying to do an "only prize cars" run in GT2, and I got pretty far into the game before I stopped (can't remember if I ran out of eligible races or if I just got bored). Here's the GT2 prize list. It's about twice the size of the most comprehensive list I could find for GT6, off GTPlanet. Not awful, but not great either.

Dunno how to feel about this yet, mostly because my copy of GT6 STILL hasn't arrived yet so all I can do is read the GT6 GAF thread and cry. :(

I do think GT5 was a step too far in the other direction, where it felt like you got a prize car for sneezing funny.

Plenty of prizes, but more difficult to get.

Not really. I am finding GT6 a world easier than GT5. I have nothing but golds in every race I tried so far. I really don't remember being able to do that in GT5.

On the other hand I do notice that they do give out less cars. I am not sure if it has to do with MT, or if they are promising something more later on. Also the Vision GT vehicles are gifted first. And they have yet to add b spec. (why wasn't it there day one? I have no idea).

This is bad for car collectors, not so bad for people interested on completion because you can win most of the cars needed for the races very easily and that allows you to accumulate credits.

OP your list is bullshit

For your list, that includes side missions and special events. 31 cars to be won.
Op's list includes only A spec. 60 cars to be won. After you add in events and the fact that you receive gift cars for even hitting a certain amount of cars in your garage that is more than twice the cars you can receive. And that is before even talking about B spec.

I hope they have something really awesome in plan for B spec and credits/prizes because in a game with 1200 vehicles there is no reason for them to be stingy on the prize cars for event completions.

That bonus isn't worth $150.

This is how they get you though, making something that's a decent pre-order bonus seem exceptional. $150 value!

With as many cars as they have, that "$150 value" is just a drop in the bucket; an enticement that leads to more people buying the game; an enticement that leads to more potential purchases of microtransactions.

I also cancelled my pre-order. Played the shit out of GT5 for about 5 months; last stopped playing late winter/early Spring 2011 after my PS3 fried from doing too much B-Spec lol.

I want the series to do well, I just hope the people buying the game are avoiding these MTs. I already know of a bunch of people spending money in Forza and NBA2K. I don't know anyone in my group of friends who bought GT6 though. We'll see what happens with GT7.

there's currently an "exploit" in the game that lets you sell the vision gt mercedes over and over again and effectively receive infinite money

Hah, no shit right? Anyone who has played this game knows that micro-transactions are an after thought. The game in no way forces them on you and in fact you kinda have to go out and find them within the game. I can understand not thinking the game is much of an upgrade of GT5 and passing on it, that is a legitimate argument, especially for fair weather fans of the racing genre. I find it hard to believe anyone would cancel a pre-order for this game based on the fact that they allow you to buy in game credits. There has been 20m credit cars in the game since GT4 and earning those is about the same, if not easier then it was then.

Has any of the extra spec races and coffee time rewards been factored into the OP? Doesn't look like it.

The OP didn't factor in tons of things when he decided to make this topic. That isn't even the biggest issue. The biggest issue is that he included B-Spec races in the GT5 list. If you take like for like lists (A-Spec GT5 vs. A-Spec GT6) there really isn't that big of a difference between them. And actually the biggest difference is that GT6 continually rewards you with higher end and and more expensive cars than GT5 does.

Or it could be their wallets are empty because 2 next gen consoles released two weeks before the launch of this game.

Too early to proclaim people voted with their wallets on this.

Doubt that. We'll see when the NPD drops, but I'm sure there will be many PS3/360 versions of games. People are still buying games for last gen systems, just not those with this microtransaction bullshit

This is bad for car collectors, not so bad for people interested on completion because you can win most of the cars needed for the races very easily and that allows you to accumulate credits.

And the OP list is still bullshit. If you are going to compare, then do it right.

That still seems a lot less than 5.

EDIT: We should note that Endurance Races are no longer hours (or a day) long anymore. They are 24 minutes.

What in the fuck? I thought that was a rumour. Fucking pathetic.

Why shouldn't he have included B Spec? It is a normal mode of the game in 5. Just because it will be integrated in 6 doesn't mean it didn't give those prize cars in 5. Perfectly valid to include it.
