Although I tried to play it on a 360 a few days ago and it was nearly unplayable, the framerate is just unacceptable. I finished it on PC a while ago, don't know how you guys managed to beat it on console when it run like that.

Shooting was fine and I absolutely love driving in IV, spent hundreds of hours in Race mode in multiplayer. So many great memories, so much fun

Not right now, they patched it several times. You should be able to play it just fine with a decent PC, it's certainly better than the console version.

Hopefully all the visual effects are intact - I've noticed visual effects missing in the most demanding games, for instance Banjo: Nuts and Bolts is missing some particle effects and (iirc) specular maps, and Halo Reach was apparently missing some to get its performance up to scratch.

I think this info is out of date. I know for sure the Reach graphical issue was down to a flag for split-screen assets being used in single-player, and was corrected some time back. "More demanding games" is probably a misnomer in terms of the actual engineering. I've played a bunch of the BC titles and seen solid improvement (or at least par+) across the board since the updates a few months back.

Obviously it would be bad if for some reason the BC version had less detail, but I think it's reaching to assume anything until it's observed. The pattern at this point is slight improvements to framerate and locked v-sync. This is a bigger title, so there's no way we won't see comparisons in the near future. Plus the original game had plenty of chug.
