...but with cats!

Yeah, no.

Since when do cats chase after thrown objects?

Now if GTA has a laser-pointer, you might have an argument.

I'm gonna have to get some video of my cat, she plays goalie with ice cubes from the fridge

Most cats will usually chase anything you throw if it's something they like and they actually feel like playing. Getting them to bring it back to you like a dog is the hard part.

Dogs contribute to a household, Cats just freeload.

Some Dogs can even bite crime.

Cats are very calming and comforting creatures. Try being stuck on one foot due to smashing the other one and having a little furball that likes to keep you company and sleep by your legs while you play Skyrim on the couch. Also, she tends to help me relax when I have insomnia enough to go back to sleep.

No, she isn't going out of her way, she's just being there, but she is a very comforting presence and her purr is very calming.

And my dog would run and hide behind me if a criminal came in. Or go to the criminal and ask for pets and love (most likely the second but if she was actually afraid she expects me to protect her). Granted my cats would be under the bed in this scenario so they're no better ;).

Cats may be freeloaders but we still get benefit off of them (and they honestly don't cost that much. My dog costs me a lot more money than both my cats combined). Otherwise they wouldn't be more prevalent in households than dogs ;).

I'm not going to say stuff like this should be banned or anything because I believe in freedom of design and consumer choice but I will say that I don't like to see pets in games like this given the number of children/impressionable people that play it and the kind of violent acts that are possible (and lets be honest) encouraged by the inclusion.
The influence is different than with violence to humans given the society we live in, someone could take inspiration from or replicate any sort of animal abuse from this with no consequences whatsoever. I hope it isn't glorified in any way.

True, on the other hand I really wish parents wouldn't let their kids play this game without some serious consideration on if the kid is mature enough to keep in game actions seperate from real life actions. GTA really isn't a good game for kids, and it's not the violence but the fact that you play as the bad guy (and you can be really evil in it, I know, I'm pretty sadistic in GTA).

As for an adult who would mimick it cause he could do it in game, he/she's got serious issues. Or never grew up (which I'd still say is serious issues if they are still that immature).

And honestly, yes, I agree there are people who would be influenced that aren't just kids (but as I said, they got issues). But at the same time I don't feel I should be punished for them.

But that's just one cause vs thousands of dogs saving other people!

And he wasn't protecting the kid, he was just protecting his turf :P

As for including cats in GTA V I really celebrate. I don't like cats (own 2 plus my sweet lovely doggy) and I will gladly enjoy doing ingame what I would hate doing in real life.

Bring 'em Rockstar

My old roommate has a rescue cat that likes to play fetch. It's actually her preferred manner to socialize with her humans.

I'll show myself out.

Nonsense! I can't recall how many times my cats have found and killed every insect, spider or critter that happens to have the misfortune of getting into my house. Good ol' house guards.

I haven't seen a single spider inside after I got my cats, so totally worth it.

And it's amazing how they can grab a fly from mid-air, then proceed to eat it casually. They're great hunters.
