GTA V Special Edition Announcement

I literally cannot even remember the last "special edition" of a game that I've purchased because it has been so long. Neat for those who are interested in this kind of stuff I suppose, sans that ridiculous $150 price point.

From what I can see, yes. I haven't felt this excited about a bag of hot air since I married my wife. #blimplove

Stunt Plane Trials - single-player Stunt Plane Trials let players take on additional aerial challenges spread throughout Los Santos and Blaine County;
God damn it this sounds awesome, but I really don't want to pay an extra $20 for it.

Wow, I was dead set on the CE until I saw the price... damn that is too much for me, considering the only game I paid $59 for this gen was Starhawk and I regret paying so much for it.

It irritates the hell out of me that they split up the digital bonus content across the two versions. All the digital stuff should have been included in the special edition.

If that had been the case, I would definitely have ordered the SE. But now I'll just get the base game so I don't feel like I paid $20 extra dollars for just half of the digital bonus content that's available. I would have loved the custom characters but I am not paying $150 for this shit.

I found all of this interesting.

•Custom Characters for Grand Theft Auto Online - get Grand Theft Auto IV characters to use within the Grand Theft Auto Online Character Creation System
•Unique Vehicles and Garage Property - players will instantly receive a garage to store custom vehicles. In single-player, the garage will be stocked with the 1930's style Hotknife hotrod and the CarbonRS sports bike. In Grand Theft Auto Online, players will get the high-end Khamelion electric car.

Basically first details about online play.

Take all of my money. Can't wait for this.

Hopefully we'll get an uber PS4 (or PC) version at some stage. I'll double dip.

Edit: Ouch, just saw the price. I didn't mean 'take all of my money' literally R*

They are basically the ONLY reason Why I am even considering the CE, nothing else really impresses me.

Will go with the special edition and hope someone sells the code on ebay ( or R* release it)

Character creation on par with Max Payne 3's multiplayer would be immense.

GTA IV had a special edition that came with some stuff, but it wasn't priced as expensive as that there.

sort of, sort of not.

The special edition GTAIV was priced around as much as this special edition ($90), but came with the physical goodness as well.

So this is a cheaper special edition ($80), but to get the physical goodies it's quite a bit more ($150)

With that being said, if the in-game CE stuff is ONLY ever available with the CE code, and it's stuff like Niko, Claude, and cars and stuff only available in the CE, I will consider it. If the CE eventually makes it's way to DLC... then probably not.

All this extra content that gets tied to pre-orders or CE's almost always just makes me want to wait until they game is cheap to purchase.

The collector is absolutely out of the question for me.

I'm considering the special because i like the steelbook, the map and the extra weapons/costumes.

-- Special Ability Boost - Michael, Franklin and Trevor each have a unique special ability. With this boost, the special ability bar will generate 25% faster;

-- Stunt Plane Trials - single-player Stunt Plane Trials let players take on additional aerial challenges spread throughout Los Santos and Blaine County;
I don't understand... so I don't get the "full" game if I don't buy the special edition?

I know it's not new but for GTA... it's sad :(

Everything wrong with this generation, and it's finally infected Rockstar.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Just options for games, just like everything else you can buy. You can get a HDTV with or without the smart internet stuff, you can get a car with or without XM, etc. That kind of customization has come to games. If you don't care about that other stuff, don't buy it and keep trucking.

When did offering options become a bad thing?

Yea exclusive DLC and such like this is always annoying to see, even if I am a massive GTA fan.

Would have preferred if they valued the editions with other content ( not in game stuff, something like a signed art book etc...)

You still get the special abilities, they probably just cut out some of the grind, upgrading them.

And the airplane challenges are additional, which means there are already some in the game.

I mean it's all pretty trivial padding.

Everytime something like this is offered it ends up being DLC after release. But it seems like all this are truly "extras", not integral parts of the game. Some of Mass Effect 3 Collector's DLC were integral to the game.

Already have the regular edition pre-ordered for $40. I bought the special edition for IV and the lock box is the only thing that I actually use. Not to actually lock away stuff but to just store some trinkets.

If R*'s track record is anything to go by (Red Dead SE, Max Payne 3 CE), they'll eventually release the digital content as DLC. I may just go for the normal edition and get that stuff later. All I need is that sweet BLIMP <3

Ok, so according to my GameStop they are the only one's selling the collector's edition. If that's accurate I assume you can only get it from GameStop and Rockstar Warehouse here in the US or at least Pennsylvania. I guess everyone else will sell the special edition? Regardless, I'm hyped, I upgraded and fully paid off both my CE 360 and PS3 versions. Take my fucking money, Rockstar.

I hope not.
Whatever, i'll wait for them to update the pre order page and we'll see.
They have the list of the major retailers there.

Amazon.uk already has ran out of standard 360 copies though, damn weird.

I walked into GameStop to put a hefty sum on the 360 CE. I haven't bought a game new at full price in nearly a year and a half- but for this I'll make an exception. I'm kind of worried it'll be a lot of discs on the 360, but that's where console multiplayer ish seems to happen between friends.

I am excited.
