GTA V Special Edition Announcement

i was tempted by the online exclusive dlc, but i have this preordered for $40 and will be buying a ps4 at launch...i really shouldn't spend the extra money if i won't be playing this online for very long.

Only thing I want from the 150 isn't the car, but it says there's an exclusive garage for it and the bike. I'm interested in those parts, but not 70 dollars worth of interested

isnt there a map in the instruction manual everytime? now i have to pay extra for one?

Might be too big to fit in the case. Or this one's the 'blueprint' version and it'll come with a typical version.

My first reaction to seeing that blimp was "I can't wait to crash that".

I'm not overly impressed with the Collector's Edition. I'll get the Special Edition at least, but if the Collector's Edition is priced significantly higher, then I'll probably pass on it. None of the extras are particularly essential.

EDIT: Woah, just saw it's $149.99. That's mental. Those extras are hardly worth twice the price!

I like the look of this

I dont think we will be getting a pc version anytime soon if not ever.

GTA started on PC. There has never not been a GTA on PC. You're smoking crack.

On a side note, it's cool that the blimp is free to everyone who preorders, but keep in mind that it's probably from specific retailers, just like the free Gaige character for Borderlands 2 preorders. (It's also free for all versions of the game preordered which is nice.)

Rockstar said:
-- Special Ability Boost - Michael, Franklin and Trevor each have a unique special ability. With this boost, the special ability bar will generate 25% faster;

I'm probably sticking to Standard Edition, but if I did switch to the special edition, I would hope something like that could be turned off.

I guess on the other hand, 25% seems really trivial.

Ugh .. why all these extra gameplay feats. More and free weapons? 25% faster recharge of special abillities?

That shit affects your entire game.

All of it is just trivial stuff. It may make the beginning easier, but after a short while, none of it will matter. You'll find/buy better guns/cars/garages and that 25% faster recharge of special abilities will more than likely shave off just 1 second.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Just options for games, just like everything else you can buy. You can get a HDTV with or without the smart internet stuff, you can get a car with or without XM, etc. That kind of customization has come to games. If you don't care about that other stuff, don't buy it and keep trucking.

When did offering options become a bad thing?

These comparisons to other non-game related purchases always seem strange to me. We're talking about computer games. Computer games used to have in-game rewards and unlockables, which you are now paying extra money for as DLC/Pre-Order incentives.

That's the issue I have.

So you already know that GTA V won't have rewards and unlockables? Just like RDR had some pre order exclusives like a horse and an outfit, yet it also had rewards and unlockables.

Oh wait...

25% is still 25%

I always loved Blizzards approach on WoW that you could never "buy" gameplay enhancing stuff.

Extra content i can understand easily. But not that. It may sound dumb but yeah.

Damn Rockstar.. Why put all the good in game content in that collectors edition. I don't want a bag or hat. And to pay 140$ for some in game content is not something I enjoy doing. Plus I'm not a steel book fan, they seem to break game disc's way too easy. Hopefully we at least get the blimp with a standard edition pre order. Maybe Rockstar will go EA and release everything as dlc...

The Blimp is for all pre orders, standard, special, and collectors. And it will probably come with every first printings of the game, just like the horse in RDR.

Normally I ignore these kind of posts, which just seem to have taken posts in an entirely different context all together to appear smart.

However, no of course I don't know that there will be no in-game rewards and unlockables, however, what I do know is that there are ones being sold as DLC and pre-order incentives right now. This doesn't change how I feel about that issue, and it's a shame (if only to me) that Rockstar have felt the need to follow this horrible trend within the industry.

Yes they might be frilly extras, but if there so worthless and pointless why sell them in the first place? Yes, we don't have to buy them, blah blah blah, but it's content lost if we don't. Content that previously would have been in the game as a possible reward or unlockable.

Might get the Steelbook Special. Not even considering spending $70 on a hat and pouch.

As for the map... Looks awesome, though a bit smaller than I expected. Nonetheless, I'm going to really enjoy driving on those highways.

First of all, I apologize for the snarkiness.

Second, the majority of stuff used for pre order/SE exclusives are stuff that was already cut from the main game (meaning that if not for these exclusives, we'd never see them in the first place) or cheat codes disguised as an item. They then add them back into the SE to make them look enticing. They also use them as pre order exclusives to apiece retailers demands.

I have to honest, i would have really liked for the controllable Blimp to be a surprise (until now i thought it was going to be a prop, like a building) in the final game.
It really is becoming a joyless industry, without any innocence left. :|

If that is the case, it seems a very convoluted method for a few extra dollars. I still don't like it. Just keep it in the game. It's GTA I can't imagine they need any extras to entice anyone to buy their game, and I'd find it odd if they needed to satisfy retailer demand (as it seems all retailers are getting the same bonuses?).

I don't know, it's this sort of thing that drive me mad about his gen.

'BACK IN THE DAY' all this stuff was free and rewarding. Now it's $10.

The only franchise I've ever purchased a collector's/special edition for. Looks like that trend will continue. If I can get the CE for a wee bit cheaper, it will be mine. Oh yes.

I think we'll see even bigger and better surprises.
Remember the jetpack from San Andreas? And I think Area 69 is in V.
Rockstar even confirmed there will still be a lot of surprises when you play it.
GTA V for PS4 & Xbox One spotted on french online retailer Fnac.com

Thread worthy ?
I wouldn't until Rockstar officially releases the information if it's even true.

Anyone know GS policy on putting money down on a collector's edition? Is there a minimum amount you have to put down, or pay in full? I'm leaning heavily toward getting it, but I'm about to buy a new car and don't really need to be dropping 150 bones at the moment.
