GTA V: who else is hanging on like grim death for PC/new-gen version?

I can't. Even if a next gen version was going to release a month after I'd still get the current gen version first, then get it again for next gen. This game looks so amazing, I can't imagine not playing this game on day 1.

I'm a huge fan of the series and would obviously love to get my hands on V rather sooner than later but got rid of my consoles years ago. Can't justify to rebuy any of them though. Gotta wait for PC then.

Buying 360 version for my brother and buying the pc version whenever that hits. Just playing it for a bit will satisfy the itch and the wait will be easier.

After thinking it over, yeah Im waiting. Backlog is nice and long (and features many games I'm dying to play).

Can easily hold out until February, at which point we will know if/when we are getting next-gen / PC versions.

Don't want to risk the story being spoiled for me, so I'm grabbing the PS3 version and beating it, but I'd love a PS4 or PC version some time next year.

I'm not much of a PC gamer, mainly Hotline Miami and SC3k, so Xbox, DAY ONE! I understand your reasons for wanting to wait, though. More will-power than me, that's for sure.

I can't wait until 2017, when there are PCs that can run GTAV at a good frame rate.

Yeah, the track record on PC ports is not stellar here. I probably won't resist getting it for PS3 or 360, whichever version is better.

GTA games have mostly been about experience over story.

By that I mean, the story takes a back seat to the characterization and the mission variety. You really can't spoil either by reading a quick reply on GAF or Youtube.

If Max Payne 3 is any indication, Rockstar has learned how to dish out a quality PC version.

I'm also waiting for that inevitable PC version, but you know what man? That flawed performance has always been part of the charm of GTA for me (even on PC).

I know something redonkulous happened when the framerate turns into a slideshow.

I like to push the game to it's very limits by piling up as much jets as I can pile up and making them all explode at once.

I want to make the game lock up. And you know what, it rarely happened.

GTA's performance has never been best of class, but it's has never impeded my enjoyement either.

Gotta love people who keep bringing up the PS3 port of GTA IV from over five years ago that was well documented to have caused Rockstar North a ton of headaches to get running as why the PS3 version this time around is going to be the same despite footage clearly showing it isn't as the game clearly isn't running at 640p for one thing. I have little doubt that the XB360 version will turn out to be better over all but the differences between the two is going to be a lot smaller than that of GTA IV. The two versions have been in development in tandem with their own teams and I wouldn't be surprised if Sony gave Rockstar North some assistance this time around. Five years is a long time time improve upon things.

oh jeeeeeeeeeeeeez this thread

that shit is a day one purchase. some developers deserve the benefit of the doubt and I'm sticking with Rockstar and GTA5 at launch. Gameplay > Graphics. I'm way more excited by the prospect of launching myself off a cliff while turbo boosting in a tank, launching myself out, flying squirrel suit gliding towards the ocean and landing on a jet ski and riding into a sunset.

You guys have fun watching the youtube clips. Imma go do that shit now and then I'll double dip because Rockstar is worth it if it ever comes out on PC.

They kept RDR off PC.... let's just keep that in mind.

Yeah, it's been this way for almost 12 years now, people whining need to get over it, this is probably going to be the last GTA this happens with given Rockstar North is going to be able to lead on PC next generation and not have the issues that have been there with consoles these past two generations outside the original XBox where GTA:SA released on both PC and XBox on the same day... Almost eight months after the PS2 release.

RDR was made by Rockstar San Diego, a developer who has had one game since the days it was originally Angel Studios, come to PC. IIRC RDR's development was largely a train wreck so much so that the game would've needed to be completely rebuilt from the ground up to properly run on PC.

There should be no doubt that GTA V will get a PC version and it won't be the mess IV was either. I also have no doubts that a PC based next gen version will get released as well in a likely GOTY type package just in time for the Holidays next year. I'll get the current gen version and enjoy the ever loving shit out of it and then eventually get the PC version when the mod community is up and running and enjoy it even more, the improved visuals and frame rate are just a bonus. No way I could wait another likely six to eight months just for that.

GTA V looks awesome, but I've got so much other stuff to play/ buy that I'm passing on it for the moment. Same with Batman, both of which I expect to see in HD next gen versions when the GOTY editions are announced.

That's when I'll pounce.

I am holding out until a ps4 version. I want the game, but my good friend is getting it for Xbox. Also, I just started grad school and ff14 on ps3 is keeping me very busy this fall.

I have to wait for the PC version, my PS3 is dead (well, not technically dead, it lasts 2 minutes before it sounds like a jet engine and overheats) and I can't afford to replace one.

Wouldn't even consider it. Gonna play it on my couch, with a PS3 controller, on my 65" TV on launch night of the game, as it's meant to be played.

I will wait, simply because I will never double dip on a Rockstar game in the future. They want as many people as possible to double dip. That's the sole reason they're holding back the PC version I believe. I think this is a scummy practice which I don't want to support.

One of my mates will undoubtedly pick up the PS360 version when it releases so I can quite easily wait for the inevitable PC port.

Double dipping :D

Still not sure if I'll go Xbox or PS3 yet but I know if I were to wait for PC it would be impossible for me not have the story, interesting gameplay elements and the online experience spoiled.

I shall be getting it on PC once it does come out though for that glorious 1080p, high res texture version + mods! I will have to upgrade my PC in order to run it better than the 360/PS3 version :p

Waiting for PS4 version! GTAIV on PS3 already tears my eyes, I can't imagine this being any better. OMG MOAR FPS FFS!

Two things would make me hold off (both would have to happen)

1. DF analysis shows PS3/360 version to be sub-720p and 20fps

2. PS4 version officially announced.

Do you actually think Rockstar is holding on to a playable PC version that's even remotely close to being ready to go at this point just so they can get a few double dip sales when they put it out in six to eight months? They're not holding back anything, Rockstar North has since GTA III, focused on consoles and then later either offload the code to another branch to port as what was done with GTA III, Vice City and GTA IV or do it themselves after finishing the console version. Though admittedly last generation the GTA III era was restricted by the real with Sony, but that's besides the point.

As I already said, this is probably going to be the last instance of this happening.

Never played any GTA on console, I much prefer the mouse/kb controls and modding capabilities of the PC. So I’ll probably get the PS4 one if it comes out first and double dip with PC version if needed. Current gen consoles won't do it justice.

Who knows. I still believe they bet on as many double dips as possible. Wouldn't surprise me they do this on purpose. I don't want to support such a thing.

I'm resolved to wait, but I would not be surprised at all if I break. I'm a sucker when it comes to being a part of the 'conversation'

Yep.

Tempting as it is to buy a PS3 I'd rather put the money aside towards a new GPU in truth. Given the sheer amount of money that's on screen in the trailers it's hard to imagine Rockstar & Take2/2K not wanting that PC market money eventually.

Waiting for PC.

My XBL Gold subscription will also run out during september and I haven't touched the console in months (not even to download free games)... So yeah, it's been fun but I'm -done- with current consoles.

I will patiently wait for the PC version, although it's going to be difficult. I'm not really that tied to the GTA series (although I did eventually play through IV) and I'd rather have it on PC.

Pre-ordered PS3 and 360 versions (and will pick the best after seeing them both in action) and will double dip on a next-gen/PC version if or when they arrive.

I'm not expecting it to be soon and would hate to miss the fun in the meantime.

Bump to say.. I am weakening. I can feel it.

I really want to play this game on not-old hardware. But I also don't want to get spoiled on a bunch of stuff.

And the game is out there now. I could buy it. I even checked local store stock. Is everywhere.
