No one knows if backbone is involved yet.
It can be one or the other or a combination of the two, there is not just one way of creating 2D graphics.chaostrophy said:I always thought sprites in games were created digitally, not drawn on paper/cels then scanned. Am I wrong?

Will buy it (day one) if they released PSN version (my Saturn is broken :/).
I'm dying for Treasure PS3 collection on one disk.
Why Treasure hate Sony? Microsoft paying them?

Oy. But knew not to expect it ^_^ Sub-20 buck ports redrawing all animation frames for 45 + playable characters + BGs? Ugh.
Still though, it's Guardian Heroes! So the Gameplay will 100% be there, as long as the shift to Widescreen + 12 Player battle doesn't destroy that.[/QUOTE]
Don't even post that beautiful image here. It's just going to make everyone more upset.

I'm going to politely disagree and posit that HQ2X (or 3/4X) can look really good on certain games if the art style was "soft" to begin with, like the Kirby series. For anything with truly beautiful pixel art and/or lots of sharp lines, I agree with you 100%.Princess Skittles said:Filtering 2D pixel art using anything other than nearest neighbor has a 100% failure rate.

Lord-Audie said:I remember seeing SFA drawings of the animation, which suggest that they were at least hand drawn first. Dunno about scanned.
Maybe someone can shed light to this.

Edit: PR doesn't mention PSN version though. Bizarre.
French PR only mentions XBLA.Suzzopher said:SEGA's Euro site has it listed for PSN: http://www.sega.co.uk/games/guardian-heroes/

Modern 2D games sometimes use a variation on rotoscoping where they draw over animated 3D mannequins, correct?REMEMBER CITADEL said:It depends. Scanned, not very often. Rotoscoped, sometimes.

I believe it was the technique used for the most recent King of Fighters game, but we haven't seen it in too many other places yet.REMEMBER CITADEL said:I don't know how often that might be the case, but everything is possible. Hell, even digitized clay.

Have you ever tried online multiplayer in a backbone game? Gunstar Heroes was unplayable online.Cipherr said:Online multi though....
