Guilty Gear Xrd TGS 2014 trailer

I feel like there is not enough hype for this game.

It amazes me that people still have the "holy crap this is in game! and 3D models!!??" reaction when they see it even after it being around this long.

Yep. It's a beautiful PS4 (and PS3) game slated to release this year (though who knows if that's still the case for NA), yet I feel it's constantly glossed over outside of Japan, and then people see it and go "that looks amazing."

Do we know if there's much difference between the PS3 and PS4 versions?
The RingEdge2 board that the arcade version runs on (which Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R and Under Night In-Birth also ran on) isn't exactly PS4-level hardware, so I wouldn't expect there to be. This, however, is only my own inference, and Arc have only been bothering to show the PS4 version as it is.

Regarding the lack of attention Xrd has been receiving, I've been under the impression that BlazBlue has simply been more popular than GG in the US.

Yup.... Really don't get it either since people are begging for exclusives on both systems. Like you said though, when people see it they go holy shit lol

PS3 is 720p and PS4 is 1080p I believe, I also assume there will be extra AA and other things in the 4 version that will help smooth the graphics out.

this game gets practically no coverage stateside tho, i feel like outside of fighting game enthusiasts/og gg fans you'd kinda be hard pressed to even know about its existence in the first place

my bet is once it gets released and streamers start kicking in it'll gradually blow up. blazblue is currently the bigger arcsys game but that too started out of nothing once upon a time. imo xrd is kinda in the same position as bb back when it was first released

I can see the game blowing up over here after release, game is VERY visually impressive and I am sure a lot of people will be streaming on PS4.

What may be more annoying than people ignoring this game when it comes to Japanese PS3/4 releases are people that constantly cry that their favorite character isn't in.

Open your mind and try a new character or two.

I can't wait until this game gets an official announcement and i can pre-order in canada.

I need this soundtrack in my life. i've been listening to the XX soundtrack for over 10 years now :x

This isn't really the issue though. The problem being that there are MANY old school stand-bys that are excluded. This includes some series icons like Bridget and Baiken and Dizzy... Characters that people think about when they think guilty gear. Imagine a street fighter game with ryu, dhalsim, guile, and e. honda but no chun-li or ken. It's not that there aren't great characters, but it is lacking characters that people think about when they think street fighter.

However, it is quite obvious that it will be held for DLC and future releases.
In true fighting game fashion, i will get the first release and the final release and let everyone else dump cash on dlc characters and incremental sequels.

Good thing my favorite character is in then! Go Millia!

yeah exactly, the visuals alone will attract folks regardless of if they even care for fighters

Also a lot of people still think that most fighting games don't have a story mode so if more trailers show that off with some hype cutscenes then that will help too.

That reminds me, due to the way this game is being made....we can get some really awesome cutscenes and a lot of them since its cheaper to do that than do 2D animation.
*Would be so down for them to make a GG anime using the game models*

As for EU/CA people, remember the PS3/4 is region free, feel free to import :D

There are some significant changes to some of the mechanics. You should probably try and read up on the changes. http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Guilty_Gear_Xrd_-SIGN-

However, the guilty gear style combo execution seems intact.
Oh for sure (I've been keeping tabs on the changes as well).

What I'm saying is that the combat looks like Guilty Gear, as opposed to, say, BlazBlue or P4 Arena. The combo loops and dashing and general pace all appear to be what I've known and loved from prior GG titles.

Yeah. I was disappointed when i picked up blazblue thinking i would get something similar to gg, but it wasn't.

Funny enough, i found solo character skull girls to feel the most "guilty gear" out of any fighters i've played... other than guilty gear, of course.

The arcade board running the game that it was built on is much weaker than PS4, so PS4 gets full IQ benefit including full 1080p and maybe even some great AA on top of that.

Also, i think Sony dropped the ball not showing this game at their E3 stream this year. It would have been good to combat MS's Killer instinct with this game and let everyone know about it...the visuals are much more impressive

I'd agree with that sentiment. Skull Girls is very, very Guilty Gear-ish especially in terms of how the combo loops feel and the overall speed of the game. I think that is a huge part of why I enjoyed it so much.

It's fairly hilarious how the cutscenes move about as smoothly as actual anime, and then the game footage is pure 60.

Well, whatever, this looks incredible. Hope it takes off in a big way.

Has it been 100% that they are not dubbing? That would be a bit unexpected considering their BlazBlue games are. The Persona Arena ones too of course, but that's a given with Atlus.

Anyways, I think I've decided to get it on PS4. Want to experience this in all of its glory. Just need to actually get a PS4 now, heh.

I haven't seen any deconfirmation on dubbing. I've only seen quiet affirmation that there would be dual audio

make of that what you will since it's not an official statement but I don't think I've seen anything to the contrary

This game is a dream come true for me. For a while I really thought I'd never see a real followup to GGXX. Now they just need to add Raven and That Man in there.

As others have said, 1080p vs 720p resolution. Also the possibility of some good anti-aliasing. Normally that doesn't matter much to be, but this will be an exception. I want my eyes to melt.

Thanks, didn't catch that before. Interesting.

Now, now, they need to keep something around for GGXrd++ Accent Slash #Reload IX.

Seriously, though, my guess is that they'll be in the story mode but not playable (and I doubt That Man ever will be). Raven will end up in the roster in a future game/edition, but probably not in basic Xrd, evens with DLC.
