Guilty Gear Xrd TGS 2014 trailer

Actually, FRCs aren't in this game, the RC variants present are less demanding timing-wise, plus they've added cues on the portraits which show when RC is possible, so I don't think it's much of a reason. The making of articles only mention the 2D feeling as the reason they went with pose to pose animation, not gameplay.
O I see. That's weird then and I definitely feels that they could add some more frames.

story is never important in any fighting games

That's because they're never done right. Even though I'm not a big fan of Mortal Kombat, their story mode on the last game really showed how it should be done. Injustice followed suit with theirs. Story definitely played a big part for the roster of MKX.

story is never important in any fighting games

We should count our blessings, really. The story in fighting games is always terrible because the final boss that gets the spotlight at the end and the characters drawn into their shenanigans are always the most boring characters. The less they focus on that, the better.

Dead Or Alive: You fight a clone of Kasumi, who is boring. Canonically she is defeated by the real Kasumi, who is somehow even more boring.

Blazblue: You fight a clone of Ragna's dead(?) sister, who is boring.

Guilty Gear: Previously a series where you fight varied and interesting bosses at the end, Guilty Gear is now exploring a new exciting paradigm wherein you fight a clone of Justice at the end. Justice is awesome, being a heavy metal robot woman. Her clones are boring kawaii anime princesses suspiciously reminiscent of boring clones of Ragna's boring questionably dead sister from Blazblue.

Tekken: Corporate takeovers don't make an exciting backdrop for a fighting game no matter how many times Tekken tries to pretend otherwise. Also Jin went crazy again because of his cursed blood. How exciting.

Street Fighter: You fight Bison, or a clone of Bison, or a servant of Bison, and then the game pretends that Ryu is an interesting character. Sometimes the series also introduces exciting new characters, such as Cammy (formerly assassin working for Bison), Rose (a fortune telling lady, but also literally Bison), Seth (backup replacement body for Bison), Juni and Juli (like Cammy, but with different hair), or that new masked lady (like Juni and Juli, but with Cammy's hair).

Kawaii Testament confirmed.

Now THAT would be a design challenge.

Sorry for the irrelevant bump but this thread made me grab the XRD movesets off the official site and stick 'em together for easy reference.

I'm completely new to the series and I don't know anything about the characters so this'll be good to help me try out all the characters. Hopefully someone else will find this useful. It'd be better in English but translation's kind of outside my jurisdiction.

Nice! If I have a chance, I can translate the stuff (give me a bit). Will be nice to have for whoever makes the Xrd OT (anybody doing it yet?)

This gave me a chuckle, but please explain the bolded.

So does anyone have or can anyone make a tutorial on how to get Japanese PS+?

Go to Amazon.jp

Buy JP PSRS card.

????

PROFIT?

That or it's Play-Asia. Whatever you do to get Japan PSN money cards.

If people game share a jpn psn acct, you could access to the demo for a buck or something, no?
PS4 doesn't allow for gamesharing. It's switched to an Xbox style model: one "authorized" system where anyone can use the content, even other users/offline. Any other system can use the stuff, but only when the "owner" is logged-in and online. So, no, you can't.

Oh :(

So does anyone have or can anyone make a tutorial on how to get Japanese PS+?

1) Create a Japanese PSN account if you don't already have one (google for guides on making one, there are several)
2) Put funds into your account by buying a Japanese card code online (my favorite place is http://jp-ecards.ocnk.net/, just don't buy on Play-Asia they have a huge markup)
3) Buy a month of PS+ on the Japanese store https://store.sonyentertainmentnetw...月利用権/cid=IP9105-NPIA90009_01-PSPLUSSUBS00001M

Is there a PS3 demo?

On that topic, have any ps3 screenshots or footage ever been shown?
It was playable at TGS, there are cam videos which looked fine and there's no talk about any problems with the game, so I assume things are going smoothly for the PS3 version. Looks like the only deference will be res and AA.

It's not like the arcade hardware is super powerful or anything. Nothing in the arcade version looks like it couldn't be done on PS3.

It's a UE3 game though. And NetherRealm has mentioned that they had one hell of a time getting that engine to hit 60fps on last gen consoles.

I just found this on YT:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-NFd90ho88

No real proof it's actually the PS3 version, aside from the logo over the screen and the guys saying so at the end of the video. Also, video quality is not the best.

Disclaimer: For moves that didn't exist in prior GGs, there's a fair amount of guesswork involved in what they will be officially called in the English release of the game! Please do tell me if you see any problems/errors. For my main, Faust, I have a doc like this:

faustmovelistexampley7sby.png

Ideally, someday, I'll have something like that^ compiled for every character! Just have to find the time... :(

Zissou, I've seen other people translate Elphelt's rifle as "Miss Confire". Just a heads up.

Thanks for the heads up. Working out what the intent behind the Japanese is tricky. On the official site, it's written as コンフィール (konfiiru). It doesn't correspond to anything that I can find, aside from some apartment building name, so I went with the way they romanized it. "Confire" seems unlikely to me, as "fire" would be written differently in romaji (ファイア-faia instead of フィール-fiiru). I know that "Comfill" doesn't make a lot of sense either, but some of her other move names were derived from French, so there's a good chance the move name was not based in English at all.

edit: grammar
