Guitar Hero II (360) -- April 3rd

This is a street dated title, meaning stores should be receiving the game BEFORE April 3.

Glad to hear it, I have really been tweaking out about this game for a while. I NEED IT.

Seems interesting that they have achievement awards with the Beatles and Zep in them. Possible that some sort of deal has been reached on songs?

I cannot wait to play Psychobilly Freakout on Expert again.

I'd rather have an icepick shoved in my ear than LISTEN to that POS song again, let alone play it.
Sometimes, I think half the difficulty comes from a song being bad. Objectively, Freya isn't very hard, but it's so bad that I lose my concentration, and it becomes harder than most of the tier 8 stuff.

so even though these "ork's" will be coming in the morning they're still considered "from the future"?

what an uninteresting definition of future. "next morning"

pfft.

the spelling of "ork" is from Warhammer 40,000 if i'm not mistaken

Uh, yeah, I spelled it wrong. It was a lift out of Fellowship. I humbly apologize and shall leave the LoTR references to the experts.

:D

Whoot! Got my pre-order in today. Best deal I've seen is GoGamer.Com's . About $10 cheaper than everywhere else. Looking forward to it!

hmm, I went to Gamestop yesterday to reserve, and they told me they weren't taking anymore...

I guess going to Gamestop was my first mistake.

Just to note that the Europe date is the 6th AKA good friday AKA a public holiday. I`d best get me mine before the holiday weekend, or I`ll be pissed!

Order direct from redoctane.com:
http://redoctane.com/gh-xbox360.html
Free gig bag, free shipping and no tax outside of CA. Red Octane has also mentioned that they may be shipping early so that customers recieve their games by the "ship date" that retailers are quoting. Got my two guitar bundle ordered last month!

EDIT: Clarifying --- I meant to say that I placed my order last month, not that I've already recieved it. :)

awesome, thanks for the heads. Ill order now :)

Well crap, guys. No online play? That was the only reason I was going to buy the 360 version. Screw that, then. I'm sure there will be some great songs on the downloadable content but that doesn't warrant a $90 purchase for me. I'll just stick to my PS2 version. :(

Possible DLC to add online play after shipping to retail:

From the second page of the preview:
We'd be lying if we didn't say we were disappointed when the new features for the 360 version were officially announced and online multiplayer wasn't among them. For months, we've been dreaming of the day when our multiplayer battles wouldn't be limited to friends in the same room, and with my own unhealthy addiction to Guitar Hero II, I've been craving both online matches against the best players in the world, as well as an Expert co-op partner. Alas, it doesn't look like it's in the cards for the game's release.

However, online multiplayer may not quite be dead yet. According to Red Octane, multiplayer is something they really wanted to get in the game, and may still add via an update down the road. The key, it seems, is co-op play, which is a lot trickier to make work (the pro-tourney mode is essentially two players independently playing against the computer, while co-op requires direct interaction between the players). So, while Red Octane isn't making any promises, we're holding out hope that multiplayer might still show up at some point.

They had this hooked up on the 360 kiosk at my local Circuit City (Greenwood, IN) yesterday and it looked great. I didn't get a chance to play it, though, because some little douchebag was showing it to his mom and they didn't move the whole time I was in the store. Looks great in HD.

you aren't. that's where my overly geekish joke came from. i've always thought it ridiculous that they spell it the normal way in Warhammer and with a 'k' in Warhammer 40,000. friend of mine used to manage a store and it was one thing i constantly asked him about... like if there was a different pronounciation for when they were ordering stock.

he never thought it funny either.

guitar hero 2 is looking awesome. just watched some hd videos from ign. wasn't expecting anything from the graphics, but they've done a swell job upgrading them.

Thanks for that link, just ordered it.

I am a HUGE HUGE Guitar Hero fan, but the song list on the sequel really didn't jive with me, despite falling head over heels for about a third of it. I'll be passing on this, unless the downloadables really kick ass. I just can't justify buying another guitar.

Dude, it's got 10 extra songs, plus the downloadables. And you're getting the frist guitar hero in high def, with achievements! :D

I just ordered the 2 guitar set from Red Octane. Damn this is going to be one expensive game but hopefully this will be one game I can get my GF to play with me.

I don't own any previous iterations.

I had a blast playing this at Best Buy.

My g/f wants me to pick up an extra guitar if I buy it.

GAF is this game really worth it?

No question about it.
I'm not a huge music game nerd but GH is probably one of my favorite games ever.

Thanks for the heads up on the free gig bags, I just ordered the double guitar set. I can finally sell my PS2 and my guitars. GH is the only reason I still own that system.

I gotta ask. What are you planning to do with the guitar that you'll need a wireless one?

It's been my experience that most peoples TV/Couch entertainment setup will cause people to stand closer to the TV to play Guitar Hero, as that is where the space to stand is, between the TV and the couch.

Oh and I played with a wireless guitar for Guitar Hero, and it sucked. Had Lag, shitty strap. Of course this does not mean some future wireless guitar would suck, but it is a possibility.

Honestly, no wires is just more convenient and less messy. It should not be a deal breaker for anyone. All of my usb slots are filled, and I would prefer not to have to go buy an extra attachment to clutter up things more then they already are. Wireless is just a bit easier on everyone.

Exactly, the same benefits as wireless controllers vs. wired. I hate clutter. With my joysticks and DDR pads, I have to unplug them when I'm done so that others don't trip and break their heads or my pads (lost 2 DDR pads that way).

Specifically for GH2, I would strum from my couch. That's not a game I have to stand to play.

Now that is crazy. Everyone ignore the above comment. Move along move along.....

Not standing to play is essentially sacrilege with who I play with, we insist newbies stand to play.

I like to call it Singer-Songwriter Hero.

Then reinvent the songs as realized by an acoustic Melissa Etheridge.

Sorry Activision, but if you can't come up with a wireless controller, then I can't come up with the cash to buy your game... even though I really want it.

There's no possible way I can play this game with a wired controller without having the cord dangling down right in the middle of my 50" DLP screen. That is.. unless the cord is about 20 feet long and I can snake it around my TV.

My 360 sits on the shelf directly above my TV and there's nowhere else I can move my 360 on my entertainment center unless I want to put it on one of the shelves inside my entertainment center... and that's a big no-no to enclose my 360 with no ventilation.

Why not put it under the tv in the entertainment stand? Is there bad circulation down there?

You know you can get USB extension cords for really cheap, right?

Put the cord along under the TV to the front, and hook up the guitars from there.

But if that's not good enough for you, that sucks.
I would never let something so trivial stop me from missing out on such a great game.

I took my PS3 out of the entertainment center and put it on the 2nd to bottom shelf and moved my center channel speaker to the bottom shelf.

Now that I think about it, I could switch places between the 360 and the PS3.
