Guitar Hero II (360) -- April 3rd

Dammit, I should've preordered. I was hoping to just go to the store and pick the game up Monday but that's looking kinda not happening.

I'm hoping for Friday too, so we'll see. I wonder if the gig bag will be some cheap thing or something nicer and decently made. Doesn't look too bad, right? That pocket in front is for the USB cable?

or for the actual game...

Pre-order it! I only pre-ordered this afternoon and mine already says "Warehouse" just like everyone else. You can pre-order anytime before the 3rd, and I bet if you did it now yours would go out at the same time as all the others.

I checked all my Canadian online sources and they're all sold out. It sucks.

EDIT - except for amazon.ca but they're charging $104.99, **** that.

*puts head in hands*

This new guitar sucks.

The body with the strummer is larger, and the shaft is shorter. WHY!? Remember that loading screen joke about not wearing your guitar higher than your belt? I pretty much had to suck it up and do that at Best Buy; otherwise the body would lean too far down and leave the strum bar out of reach.

The new locations for the strap are also pointless (they force the strap into the shape of an arc around your back instead of your shoulders).

Finally - maybe this was just the "Best Buy" effect, but I had a lot more trouble with strumming in Beast and the Harlot. The sound from the TV completely drowned out the "clicking" sounds of the strum bar.

The Gibson SG model blows this Xplorer model out of the water.

Please someone proove that man wrong, if he's right I will cry

one of the 1up podcasts from way back talked about the xbox360 controller as being the best one yet.

we'll see. it could all be personal preference.

I hated the guitar too. The new fret buttons suck, as do the overall aesthetic and layout of the other buttons.

I thought Garnett had mentioned, on the 1up Yours podcast a couple weeks ago, that the new Xplorer guitar actually felt noticably better --- as in more comfortable and responsive?

Anecdotal retelling of subjective opions ftw!

I also remember hearing that the buttons were more responsive etc.

I guess that the hardcore who have gotten used to one thing will not like it.

This kinda sucks. My order has been showing as "warehouse" since yesterday, and i've recieved no email saying it's shipped. So i'm wondering what the deal is. If it doesn't ship today i'm gonna be pissed, as that would mean I won't have mine til Tuesday, or Wednesday.

I also sent them an email asking when it would ship, and that was 20 hours ago. Apparantly this company doesn't do things real quickly. :/

Ha, mine hasn't shipped yet either and it's been showing "warehouse" since yesterday too. I just assumed that I ordered past the cut-off time for same-day orders to be processed, and that mine would ship out today.

Actually, it HAS TO ship out today if I want to get it by Friday because I chose 2-day shipping. Expect me to very, very happy or very, very sad by the end of the day.

Apparently you're blinded by Guitar Hero Fever and can't read:
No, actually 2 days is still a ridiculous turn around time for an EMAIL. It doesn't really matter that they tell me ahead of time that it could take 2 days.

Is it better if I warn you i'm about to punch you in the face before I do it? Not really, but yes, you were warned. :lol Doesn't make it any less pathetic.

Umm, no it's not. Considering how easy it is to f ire off an email these days, they probably get tons of email every single day. You can't expect a relatively small company to have a battalion of employees sitting there waiting to answer your emails. The "turn around time" is not ridiculous here, only your expectations are.

Can add a couple days for the barrage of trivial e-mails right now asking when their order is moving out of the warehouse.

This never occured to me as a possible issue.

I am so scared right now, I plan on passing off my GH & GH2 + guitars to a buddy, since in theory I will have a superior version. But now, NOW my mind is filled with doubt. Maybe this is why Peter Moore looked like a goofball playing it back when all those photoshops were done.

You mean you will receive it ONLY on the launch day ? Damn man, i feel your pain.... boycott redoctane ! :lol

No, my point was that they clearly have them ready to ship in the warehouse on Tuesday, and therefore I really don't understand why they weren't shipped on Tuesday. It would piss me of if they just took two or three days to get around to shipping the pre-orders.

I get the feeling that they're timing when items are shipped so that the earliest some people will get their orders is on Monday, with most people getting it on Tuesday. Don't most online pre-orders (Amazon, etc.) work this way?

Have you seen Peter Moore? Let's not blame the guitar...

Still, I think this guitar looks more like a toy than the one from GH1. The shorter handle and bigger body just doesn't look good.

I'll still get it since I don't have a PS2 and thus am not a GH1 player, so I won't compare the two, but it would be nice to get the same guitar they always had, only for the 360.

Don't stress about it, dude. I spent a good amount of time with it at Best Buy and was extremely satisfied with the 360 guitar.

Has anybody actually measured the distance from the fret buttons to the strummer?

Now, this isn't exact, but it looks to be about half an inch closer to strummer, with the buttons themselves spaced apart exactly like SG.

Isn't the neck supposed to be a little thinner on the X-Plorer? If so, I'm pretty sure I'll prefer it over the SG.

I feel like someone at Redoctane is getting a bunch of emails about when the orders will ship and just laughing their ass off.

And deleting them, you mean. I'm obsessively checking my order and so far, no ship. #$@!#$! Sigh.

I had ordered the PS2 GH2 from redoctane, the product page said "have it on or before launch" It showed up on launch day. Just sit back and relax

I dont know what the hell you guys are expecting...

Um, I'm just expecting them to send me what I've already paid them for. Some orders have already shipped, so I'm expecting them to ship mine sometime soon.

Beaulieu said:

They're expecting to get the game early, but I'm not really sure why. I'm guessing that at this point, they're packaging orders as they come in, readying them in their warehouse(s), and shipping them out according to the locations they're going to. Someone who lives across the country might have theirs shipped today, whereas someone who lives right next door might not have theirs shipped until Friday/Monday. The game has a pretty firm release date, and it looks like they're sticking to that.

ORLY?
Who's orders have shipped?

Didn't Benjamin Birdie's order say shipped? Or some CAG members were saying the same thing I think. Some people on the East Coast who ordered and selected ground shipping have had their orders shipped already because it'll take longer to get here.

vatstep said:

Probably because the pre-ordering page on Red Octane's site stated that you might end up getting the game "before, on, or after" the release date. The were the ones who suggested it was possible to get the product early.

No, no, no. I got Warehouse, Warehouse, Warehouse, Shipped, like everyone else, I'd surmise.

Someone will get it early, wether it's retail breaking street date or people getting their online orders early. I just hope I'm one of them and **** anyone that wants bring me down.

Nicely put. Seriously, f*ck off if you think getting excited about getting the game early is a crime.

Benjamin Birdie, sorry I thought yours was on its way to you already.

I just think it is cool to get a game early, you kinda get bragging rights for a few days.
Like when I bought Elite Beat Agents early at Costco
