Guitar Hero IV Debut Trailer

I will buy GH IV and just jump over the 2 drum sets, 4 guitars and the mic to get over to my bed. small price to pay to have plastic instruments infesting my room.

the more and more I see these type of games the more and more I think "Why don't people just take up real music lessons, and have REAL life accomplishments?"

Because they're not close to the same experience. Your argument is like saying a fan of light gun games should go hunting.

Why don't people just play in the Super Bowl and have REAL life accomplishments?

Why don't people just fight in a war and have REAL life accomplishments?

And join the army as well?

And race cars for a living?

And be a real sports hero?

I'm going to be a fat italian plumber and jump on turtles, eat mushrooms and fly around the galaxy.

can you really shoot kinetic energy holy shit

Dont like the hi-hat positioning. The good thing about RB's pads is that depending on the song, the red or yellow drum can be the snare.

And the subsequent bad thing about the RB drums is while they work semi-well in a context sensitive environment, you're fairly limited when it comes to the free-style sections.

It will have real life achievements, but I wouldn't hold your breath on accomplishments just yet.

People weren't saying that last year when Rock Band was shown, of course.

Probably because you can't copy yourself. Yeah Yeah I know Guitar Freaks / Percussion Mania, but whatever. Konami dropped th ball and Harmonix was copying themselves on Guitar Hero anyway. It's just Amplitude/Frequency with a guitar controller.

If GH4 ends up looking vastly improved over RB I will have to sell RB before purchasing it, as there is no way in hell that I'm going to have 4 guitars and two sets of fake drums around the place. I live in a condo and already dismantle the drum set when not in use and try to stuff it away in a closet so I don't have to look at it.

Somehow I doubt that a vastly improved RB2 will be far off from the release of GH4 though, with an even better drum set and who knows what else. You can't win, really.

What I want to know about is improvements to fake guitars, I've never been into the drums and they exist solely for parties. Where are they going with the fake guitars?

"The Expert level will still be what it is: you'll play every note in the song," says Bright.

Still be? So you'll play more notes than are actually in the song?

Ahem, sorry, low blow.

Neversoft, don't let me down with the charting baby. Slides and strumming in solos more than once a minute please.

The interview fails for not saying Country House is better than Roll With It.

Is it really smart to push this when Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is right around the corner? If Johnny sees GH4 and that it's gonna come with all this equipment, why would he buy the Aerosmith package. With GH4 being on the cover of Game Informer next month, it just seems a bit early IMO for them to try and push IV when Aerosmith isn't even out yet. I know it'll still sell I'm just sayin'.

On the actual game, the drums do look better than Rock Bands and I'm curious abou the create-a-song feature. I don't know if I want 2 sets of drums in my house though.

This trailer is meant for europeans, since RB is launching today here on the 360.

I really hate those kinds of "forced enthusiasm" commercials. Is it wrong that I got upset that the kids were fake-playing their fake-instruments? The fingering was all wrong!

As an owner of GH2, 3 and RB, I can state for th record that there's no damn way I'll be ponying up for the new drum set. This will be the first GH game where I buy the disc only - assuming, of course, that the songs and note patterns are decent.

Oh, and is anyone else scared that "Battle of the Bands" might refer to a bigger expansion of the frustrating battle mechanic of GH3? I don't want to see that shit come back! :(

Battle mode is being retooled acording to Neveroft, it's gonna be more about playing your stuff than beating your rival. At least in story mode.

phew. That's good to hear.

Wahhhhh. 100% sold after that article.

I'm curious, what was mentioned in the article that sold you on GHIV? The song creation tools?

Mainly that the difficulty is going to stay intact.

The CAC looks a lot more in depth than RB too.

That was a REALLY amateur trailer.
Plus the lack of a "4" and downplaying the vocal parts doesn't instill confidence.
Also, remember you're comparing GH4 to a year old game. Don't make any decisions until RB2 is revealed.

TheGreatDave said:
How did you spend $100 on Guitar Hero DLC?

He clearly means $100 in Rock Band DLC, and the instruments not being cross-compatible with Guitar Hero IV.

The way I see it, the incompatibility is awful for consumers, and it will result in most Rock Band owners never going back to Guitar Hero because they're already financially committed.

Ah. OK, cool. I'm a bit less skilled with GH. I do hope that Hard mode gets tuned down a bit from GH3. They can still go nuts on Expert for the real hardcore players. :D

I think Activision needs to push this ad on the mass market, then release the super awesome full band expert vids on the internet for the established GH players to check out.

Can anyone get some screecaps of that guitar? I think they are using the new one, body style isn't the same as the LP.

That song choice in the trailer really isn't calming my fears of the guitar being less fun this time around.

Last year the first Guitar Hero 3 footage was Weezer and Tenacious D. I wouldn't worry yet. I hope guitar remains the focus though.

This better not be a slam against "My Name is Jonas"!

so help me God...

Sold. Day 1. Where do I deposit my monies???

Good. They toned down the face buttons on the neck.
But I see a lack of a whammy bar, but some sort of bridge on the body.
That MIDDLE part of the neck is a button! For sliding down the neck during certain parts.

Which will mean it not being as good for the other instruments.

Yes, it's a lose-lose! You get great Guitar and the band suffers, or great band and the individual guitar tracks suffers. Isn't it fun? This is why the two franchises need to stay different.

Hmm, looks like it has a silver bar to the side of the strum bar, for Palm Mutes maybe?

It also looks like it MIGHT have some kind of pressure panel for slides (which would be phenomenal).
