Guitar Hero World Tour: DRUMS video

Hearing Dammit from Blink makes me happy, (though knowing it'll be censored sucks) however I already have the Rock Band drums, and that already takes up far too much space for just ONE video game, so there's no way in hell I'm going to buy a second set of giant fake drums, no matter how good the game is.

This whole "battle" between Activision and Harmonix is just downright silly now.

Should one of them just roll over and decide the market doesn't belong to them? Competition is awesome. It's why Harmonix aren't allowed to get away with their shitty "platform" idea and have to give me the disc based sequel I'm entitled to. It's why I get all this cool shit in GH:3, and nothing but masters as standard. I'm happy for the two of them to make each others lives really difficult.

Dude I just bought Rock Band two weeks ago! And one of those weeks has been spent waiting for a replacment drum set from EA. Definatley buying Guitar Hero World Tour so I can get my drum fix while I'm waiting for my Rock Band kits.

Seriously though having RB and GH guitars at my pad is iffy enough. Imagine two drum kits and all those guitars and mics? There's no way I can bring a chick over!

Somebody at Activision must surely be paying attention to all this and will think "yeah, lets just support the Rock Band drums". I mean...it's against everything they stand for, but it may be worth it in the end. A drum purchaser is a very special kind of internet freak, and there's really not that many of them in the real world. You don't want to annoy them.

Yeah, but at the same time, the competition between those two doesn't mean jack to me when I'm running out of closet space to store all this crap. First time I see a keyboard get brought into one of these games I'm done forever, I'll just go back to playing AudioSurf.

Just sell the stuff. Rock Band is supposed to work with everything, so the GH drums will probably work with it.

Dave only has that avatar to confuse Rock Band fanboys. He's an admitted GH viral marketer.
lol

I've been reading the rock band thread, hasnt he been waiting like a little girl for his drums to come in?

bass for rock band, have you guys played hysteria?

I HATED the boss battles in GHIII so much that I refused to keep playing the game.

Even though these drums look better than the Rock Band drums (velocity, wireless), I am not about to purchase another set of fake drums. Rock Band it is.

The new features are sexy, but I have to agree with you there.

I like how I'm a topic of discussion.

GH:3 is still unquestionably a better guitar game than Rock Band. For realz, it's undeniable. But if you just search my post history for "notecharts" you'll probably find the many times I've had this discussion. Suffice to say; Rock Band pussy, Guitar Hero hard cock. And in this instance, I'm gay.

lol ill argue about this in the rock band thread

Guitar Hero World Tour? What happened to GH4? or are we not getting GH4 anymore? or are we? it's all so confusing, especially with that whole "there will be four GH skus this year" thing from Activision.

i think is more likely than you could use your gh drums with rockband. Since GH drums have 6 notes and rockband kits only allow for 5

From what neversoft said, the charts from easy to hard has been balance better difficulty wise, expert will still be like is now, you play every note of the song.

dave's avatar is also bass I believe.
dave's avatar is just there to show his undying love for the bass guitar and awesome charts (like the one shown in his avatar).

You're like a Rock Star!
Except you don't stand up when you play...
So, you're kind of like a rock star, but not really.

First off, it appears that this drum set is superior to Rock Band's. Pressure sensitive and muffled pads, raised cymbals and a bass drum pedal that doesn't break in 20 minutes are all huge positives in my book.

I refuse to say "I'm just going to stick with Rock Band", until 2 things occur. First, let the game get a little closer and let me see the song listing and some previews. Second and more importantly, will Rock Band 2 be announced and will it be compatible with my current drum set or will they make changes to them? If it's the latter, we'll all be buying another drum set anyways.

I think gh world tour is guitar hero 4
I'm starting to think that GHIV is this game sans mic and drum set and the full package is On Tour. I wonder if there are any hard-hitting game journal...wait a minute, there aren't any. They all just lay over and play dead at the feet of the video game companies. Well, there's Patrick. Maybe he will ask some of these questions.

Game Informer ran an article on "Guitar Hero IV" and it was a preview of this game. Activision dropped the numbering for the series, which shouldn't be a surprise, and was probably a good call.

From here on out the GH series will have drums and singing as well, I doubt you'll see a guitar only game after GH: Aerosmith.

Don't remember at all but read it somewhere, they dropped "Guitar Heor IV" because short form will be GHIV. Could be totally made up.

that's possible. I just think they're going to be approaching it the same as MS approached the next-gen pricing: core for a lower price to say: see, we're cheaper than our competition.*

*does not include the full experience.

That's the best way to go really.

People need to understand that not many people are going to pay a large price for a game they can only enjoy to it's fullest in a local multiplayer setting. Obviously plenty of people have bought Rock Band, but they're very different to the casual kind of person who buys Guitar Hero

just a question, I just bought GH3 for the 360, when they come out with the next one will I be able to use the Guitar from 3 or do they make you buy a new one each game?

In the magazine it was Guitar Hero 4 though.

But if we're thinking like that, type Guitar Hero 4 with all caps.

GUITAR HERO $

Should be fine. But you never know.

Haven't bought Rock Band yet, and I'm glad I have not after seeing this. The drum kit for GH4 is much better.

Having said this, it is possible the Rock Band 2 drum kit will be better so I'm not buying any of these games until these companies can come up with a universal standard. I am buying one music kit and thats it.

Dunno if its been posted, I think all that we saw yesterday was the trailer but

price and ship date

http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/24/guitar-hero-world-tour-priced-given-release-date/

Now that we've been enticed with what Guitar Hero World Tour will look like, GameStop has revealed the upcoming rock simulator's price and release date. $189.99 will get you the Guitar Hero World Tour "Band Kit" with drum kit, guitar, and microphone. Meanwhile, the "Guitar Kit" at $99.99 will come with just the guitar controller. For those of you who want to use your current controller (assuming current controllers will work), the game-only version will run $59.99 (or $49.99 for the PS2 and Wii). The game's ship date, as of now, is set at 10/27/08.

Those drums look cool.

I could have done without the gratuitous marketing presentation, however. Is it really necessary to have those drummers 'consult' on the project? Give me a break...

why not? If real drummers approve of the kit and can stand the pounding without missing notes is good quality control.

Some guy at Neversoft said they wanted to get them in the game, and other bands that fans had been asking for. Nothing was confirmed.

They said they must have bands like Dream Theater for some core fans that yearn for that kind of music.
