The 360 being far and away the best system available this generation makes it kinda hard for me to not encourage people to buy their products.

Without getting into a system war I've stated before that based on game libraries and other features (OK, Blu-Ray) the 360 just doesn't do anything for me. I that with a solid gaming PC and a PS3 there's little reason for me to own a 360.

Title should have been "The Official GUITAR HERO: WORLD TOUR Thread of 'That's called Rock Band, isn't it?'"

That's one of my favourite audio clips.

I cringe all over. Americans: change your accents.

What is more amusing to me is the bit about having "450 songs in Guitar Hero games" which basically means absolutely nothing since they're not all in the same game. If they're counting On Tour it's not even on the same system. The way they're trying to compete with Rock Band's legitimate claim is so pathetic.

Most Americans would largely say that they don't have any sort of accent. Much of our pronunciation tends to be fairly flat with only a few regional accents cropping up.

That guy doesn't so much have an accent as he is speaking in the American style known as "complete douchebag". He's intentionally accenting it to sound like an idiot because he doesn't know any better and is a crappy voice actor.

I didnt know you could seperate the drum kit to put it on a table. Pretty slick.

I thought you could do that in RB already?

Guess we won't be playing Lips.

Had some fun with this game yesterday (my friends and I played the Wii version - no drums).

Here's some impressions:

- Guitar is really nice - strum bar is not as 'clicky' as previous GH guitars, but it's much tighter than RB guitars.

- Using the solo buttons is definitely a strange experience (the notes change to a purple color so you know when to use them - can still just use regular fret keys) - using star power during a solo kinda makes the notes hart to see.

- Note charts felt better compared to GH3.

- Beat It & Livin' On a Prayer were all kinds of awesome to play - Beat It especially was a lot of fun during the guitar solo.

weirdly, if you go to any english speaking country and ask them if they think they have an accent most people will say they feel they don't. doesn't change the fact that every speaking any language has one.

americans sound different to english to scottish to australian to new zealand to irish to welsh to canadian to south african.

they all have an accent. it amuses me when someone thinks they don't.

I'm going to try this again... does the Wii version GH3 guitar work with GH4 or not? I read that it would not, but it didn't sound 100% accurate info either, so I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure. This makes or breaks the deal with GH4 for me, as I'm not going to buy 2 more guitars just for this game if the old ones don't work.

All previous instruments for Guitar Hero works with GH:WT, Wii included. The only thing that won't work with GH:WT on the Wii are any of the Rock Band instruments.

And the GH instruments on Wii don't work on RB1, correct? I read somewhere that they might on RB2.

Delayed by a week in Europe :(

.....

I wouldn't mind waiting a week usually, but several factors make it slightly more annoying.

1) I previously had 11 days off from the inital release date. Now I don't.
2) I will be getting Mirror's Edge and Banjo on the same day.
3) I will be paying for Mirror's Edge and Banjo on the same day :P

I'd buy Fable 2 to fill the gap if I thought my 360 would be back any time soon. Guess I'll do some work :(

*lowers power level*

grr

Huh? Oh, wait, no, I heard about that. Karaoke is an abomination. I really dislike the vocal portion of Rock Band and wish it had never been included. Though, to be honest, I also really, really wish that Karaoke Revolution had never happened so it wouldn't even have been an issue.

I am, however, ironically right in the middle of the early vocal challenges as I write this. Having them just sitting there and other challenges not unlocked was annoying me. I really wish I knew what some of the that are locked are. I mean, aside from the obvious ones (drum, vocal, marathon, etc.) I assume they're just DLC I don't have, but there seems to be a lot of them... I'm missing the more recent stuff, but I didn't think it was that much.

Dead Rising was one of the only games to interest me (Halo and all other console FPS can die in a fire of terrible control and inability to be modded) and even it's going to be coming out on Wii.

Oh, and Steel Battalion. There was a video rental shop near me in college that actually had the huge box for it next to the counter for rent with a $500 deposit or something equally ludicrous. I always wanted to play it because it looked awesome, but I never knew anyone with an XBox.

Friend of mine got an email from GAME, I'll see if they can forward it.

"As you may already be aware, the UK release date for Guitar Hero: World Tour (Complete Band Pack) + FREE Bass Guitar Controller has changed to 14-Nov-2008. Changes to release dates are relatively common in the videogames industry and are unfortunately beyond our control.

Don't worry, your order is still live and will be despatched prior to its release date via your chosen method of delivery."

This is the bulk of the email, It could just be referring to a delay in hardware, or that specific bundle, i don't know. But it will affect most people nonetheless.

thanks.

also, belgand, i just bough rockband 2 on ebay, probably will take like 2 weeks to arrive, but we should play together again in the future, was fun :) altho i dunno if you enjoyed bass, most people dont:P

I really really really really really hope that delay doesn't effect Australia.
Our release was already delayed to that week. DVD Crave lists 12/11 still so it looks like we'll get it a couple of days before Europe for a change.

\o/ yay!

Also, might just be the Full Bundle that is delayed. I'm still looking into it. I'd assume orders of the game on it's own are fine, and so are orders with the guitar, but with the full kit might be delayed. I'll ask a friend tomorrow if they can clear things up.

Reason I think it's just the full kit is that my friend who got the email had the full kit on order, and i only have guitar + game and i wasn't sent an email.

Also, Gameplay have the band full kit listed as the 14th but the others listed as the 7th

Is the guitar bigger? The GHIII guitar is just way to small for me. It hurts my hands when I play unlike the RB guitar which feel perfect in my hands. If its not bigger.....no buy.

Are user created songs still going to condense into 4 pads for Rock Band drums?

Also, any word if adding cymbals to a Rock Band set will let you have 5 pads in Guitar Hero?

Trying my hardest not to have yet another plastic instrument :lol.

Yes.

Not right now, but anything could be theoretically patched.

I'd have thought it would work out the box seeing as it can identify midi instruments and adapt to those. Or is the midi drum input just for song creation?

I like that they've made the slide buttons the same distance apart as the regular ones, so that you don't have to recalibrate to a different distance like I had to with the Rock Band guitar, which was a pain in the ass. The new guitar looks sweet, and i'm glad there's no start button near my wrist now, just a star power button ^_^

is it worth it to get the pack if you already have les+strat2+rb drums? i was going to get it but i'm actually pretty happy with the strat2 and rb2 in general. definitely don't give a crap about the music creation, pretty much the instruments would have to sell me on the game.

guitar looks like crap IMO. thank god I don't give a fuck about how guitars look though.

The only part of it I think looks bad is the neck. It kinda ruins the look by having it so toy like. The faceplate is lovely, don't you dare say a bad word about it >:(

If you're happy with what you've got now, not really. The new stuff in the GH:WT guitar is showcased mainly in the Music Studio, so it depends how involved you'll be with that.

compared to the RB sunburst strat it looks like crap. if only the strat and the gh controller could have babies. :(

I've never accidentally hit start, back, or the guide button. I never knew it was a problem. I even half to look down to find it when I want to pause. Although this is probably because I'm a lefty.

see those two tiny circles on either side of the select/back/starpower button? Those are start buttons.

Also, the pic guard on the generation 2 strats is raised around the start button. So, if you slam your hand down it will hit the select button but not the start button.
