Guitar Hero: World Tour Platform Official Thread

I've never been able to cope with pressing a button for star power. Maybe it'll be easy with this big huge button, but I have no problem tilting. Although it is nice that they've added the option to disable that motion sensor so you can only use the button if you like. My Les Paul is guilty of going crazy sometimes.

see those two tiny circles on either side of the select/back/starpower button? Those are start buttons.

God fucking dammit.

Red Octane, I'm being serious, employ some people who play Guitar Hero to research your next product. Yes I am offering.

the new GH guitar looks way, way better than any of the GH guitars before it.
Mainly because of it's size and because the body looks much nicer. They've made many of the buttons on the body to look like parts of the guitar (e.g. start/select/starpower is the bridge, d-pad and home button is a knob.). The neck looks like a toy, though.

It doesn't look nearly as nice as any RB guitar. not even close. let's not fool ourselves.

but, it looks like it'll function really well and i'm really looking forward to this guitar.

I prefer the Les Paul's looks to the Strat 1. The Strat looks good in pictures but the thing looks like it cost about £5 to make in person. I'll have to wait and see with the second one but it's hardly a radical change.

i liked the les better than strat 1 but i like strat 2 better than les, looks-wise. functionality-wise strat 2 and les are nearly equivalent.

Same, the Les Paul is so freaking sturdy compared to the Strat. The Strat had no weight to it and just felt really flimsy overall. Haven't tried the Strat2 though, not sure if I ever will.

due to my broken foot, i can't sit straight up and play. i kind of have to lay back and then prop my foot up. the way my foot is propped makes it get in the way of lifting/tilting the guitar. I'm really glad I can press a button. I can also use a foot pedal (like a drum kick pedal), with the generation 2 strat, to activate it, but I prefer the button.

I've been using an X-Plorer forever so I can't wait to try this new one out. I really hope it's better than the Strat.

The GH:1 guitar is better than the Strat, so you'd hope so.

It's a nice option I guess. I'm talking more about those crazy guys that time their button presses perfectly to get MAXIMUM SP POWER.

the new one is basically the same guitar. But, the new look of the one with the sunburst looks amazing. the wood look on the neck of the new strats is much better than the whitish yellow plastic look, imo (even though the look is only on the front half of the neck and doesn't wrap all the way around).

The strats my favorite, so stop talking crap about it. :(

I could see you doing this.

That's how real Strats with rosewood fretboards look. Rosewood on the top, maple on the bottom.

the new strat definitely feels better than the old. it has a very "natural" (relatively) non-toy feel to it, unlike the first which felt flimsy and didn't work that well anyway. it's not a revolutionary change but it was noticeable to me to the point where it's now my default guitar.

the neck feels way better. more grip or something.
I like the new one way better, but I don't think anyone would notice any difference unless they were a strat user. People who barely use a strat might think it was exactly the same.

The cheats for GH:WT have been EXPOSED, so we'll at least have Hyperspeed at launch. You can see them here, of note are options to change the Gems colour, enable auto-kick for drums, unlock the AT&T BALLPARK! and adjust the "Star colour" and "Flame colour". I hope this means I can pick my own tint for everything to change when activating star power; that blue can be a little harsh on my delicate eyes.

Also, you can unlock the Best Buy Kid and the Euro Contest Winner Kid. I can't WAIT.

Using the back button for SP is where its at! Hopefully that huge button they have now for star power will be easy to get used to.

whispers on the interweb are that the game is region free. Im thinking about importing the game and playing with my GH2 guitar and RB mic, and then selling the uk game when my PAL band in a box pre order arrives

It's basically what I'm doing. I'm an impatient bastard, so I'll probably import the game and guitar, then buy the band box, and sell the game.

I didnt know you could seperate the drum kit to put it on a table. Pretty slick.
RB drums could do the same.

WTF? I wanted to know if someone knew something specific about the Wii DLC (same songs/release schemes as the other two consoles or not), not a rant about waggle and Nintendo.
you asked for help - on something you could probably find yourself - and he gave you a pretty good answer.

I'm going to try this again... does the Wii version GH3 guitar work with GH4 or not? I read that it would not, but it didn't sound 100% accurate info either, so I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure. This makes or breaks the deal with GH4 for me, as I'm not going to buy 2 more guitars just for this game if the old ones don't work.
GH...4?

So, is anyone here familiar with Wikipedia? I mean, I know you can't use it in school assignments and all but that doesn't mean you have to preclude it from the rest of your life just because of that.

2. awesome for the same reason you specified.

THESE COLOURS WILL NEVER RUN.

Hey, did you think Wii Music had the market for shitty sounding music covered? MII FREESTYLE.

Jah, was just checking that out. WiiMusic in its entirety is practically included in GHWT as a bonus mode. :lol

Got back from playing GHWT at BestBuy. I think they had just setup the display with drums, mic and TWO new guitars! ^_^...the new guitar is AWESOME. The build quality, feel and look of the guitar is much improved, you really have to see it in person(PS3 version). Also the drums are really slick, and seem to be very high in quality as well (very quiet too). I never really got into drumming in RB so the 3 pad and symbols setup just felt right. I dont have any previous RB or GH stuff for ps3 so I will be getting the full band package....I need this game now! >_<

ya, it pretty much is.
honestly the whole "jam" concept seems really, really fun.

I get to play with the GHWT drums tommorow so Im half excited. I love my 4 pad setup and I doubt the GHWT drums will be the quality of the ION drum rocker. (I know its not a fair comparison but still)

Not really. I've played Wii Music a bit, and it's still trying to go for something different than that. But I think Wii Music would have benefited from having a free style mode. It's harder to make good sounding music in Wii Music than it is in any Guitar Hero or Rock Band game (which isn't a bad thing, since you can make some good sounding improvs if you don't waggle like an idiot)

But anyway, freestyle mode looks like fun. Hopefully I get to try out the Wii version some day.

I swear to god you would be surprised at the number of people who use this as an academic source. At university level too.

I am doing a group assignment at uni at the moment. This guy sent me his part and the first four lines just sounded too perfect so I googled them. He had taken it, word for word, from Wiki. And to make it worse, he didn;t reference it.

So many morons at my uni.

Hey Neversoft, for the last two GH games, the Hyperspeed code was OBOYOBOY. WHY DID YOU HAVE TO CHANGE IT ? WHY ? IT WAS EASY TO REMEMBER AND IT WAS AWESOME AND PERFECT AND IT WAS AWESOMELY PERFECT ! WHY ?

(No seriously, why ? Did you really had to change everything ? REALLY ?)

Not sure what's worse. That or "What's wrong with using Wikipedia as a source?"

OK, just been reading up on GH:WT and read that Star Power on drums is activated by hitting the cymbals simultaniously. I have no need (or room for that matter) for 2 drumkits in my house, so I'm planning on sticking to my RB-drumkit. I wonder how the five pad drumcharts will translate to the four pad drumkit that is Rock Band's. Do they leave out one color? Also, how on god's earth will you activate star power on the RB-kit?

Mii Freestyle mode actually looks pretty fun. I can't believe how many features there are in this game (or the fact that Nintendo is trying to sell one of its modes for $50 a pop but that's another story entirely).

Friend of mine got an email from GAME, I'll see if they can forward it.

"As you may already be aware, the UK release date for Guitar Hero: World Tour (Complete Band Pack) + FREE Bass Guitar Controller has changed to 14-Nov-2008. Changes to release dates are relatively common in the videogames industry and are unfortunately beyond our control.

Don't worry, your order is still live and will be despatched prior to its release date via your chosen method of delivery."

This is the bulk of the email, It could just be referring to a delay in hardware, or that specific bundle, i don't know. But it will affect most people nonetheless.

here in Italy we are getting the game on november 21st, that's what the eb-games guy told me when i preordered it, and their website got that date too.
There are different release dates among the different countries in Europe?

The code stays unlocked once you've put it in, so it's not a big deal. What will be a big deal is if you have to keep going back to the cheat menu and enabling it, like in GH:3 and Aerosmith.

I wish you'd be able to turn on hyperspeed and just have it for guitar while it doesn't effect the other players.

Apparently you can define hyperspeed for specific instruments in World Tour, so that should be possible. My dream scenario is to be able to have my own profile have certain settings, and everybody else just have defaults.

Also; for the nerds

That'd be perfect, people I play with bitch when I play at the speed I prefer and I bitch when we play at the speed they prefer. That's win win!

With all these Euro delays, I'm assuming Australia is getting delayed aswell.

Release date is meant to be the 12th. Anyone know if that's changed??

Say it isn't so

I used it on one of my first papers in college back in 2003 and just skirted in under the whole "it's not citable!" Of course, I thought that since it was a "pedia" it was just like an encyclopedia but free and online. Whoops. :lol
