Guitar Hero: World Tour Platform Official Thread

Yep.

03112008390.jpg

I don't have the equipment or much know-how to fix it, I haven't touched a soldering iron in about 7 years.

Think i might get guitar pack only of this, however whats the deal with the guitar, does it snap into place the neck like the gh3 or is it solid like gh2. Im asking as my gh3 guitar was more or less what caused me to stop playing as it was so lose when songs became hectic it would move around and lose connection to the base.

My order has been dispatched from GAME but I don't expect it to arrive until Thursday. I'd love it if it came tomorrow, although I have to go an get two new tyres for my KA so i'll probably miss the post :(

PS Dave, check out this soldering iron, its only a fiver and all you need to do is melt the contacts a little, stick the wire in and you are done. Certainly cheaper than even the postage to send the drums back to Activision.

Is that full thing mate or not.

my GHWT guitar stopped upstrumming and my GHIII controller has buttons that short out. which means the only working stuff I have left is all from RB. go figure.

As for your LP buttons not working try this bud: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=X5A4MjLsV7Y

Worked on both of mine.

I was having a hard time with the WT Guitar yesterday (as you saw). Both of mine have squeaky-ass strummers and buttons that stick/catch/are kinda hard to press). I can get used to the strummers but I think I'm going to gut one of the necks and sand/file some parts like I did with one of my explorers. As of right now, I still prefer the GH3 LP's by a mile (as you also saw) paper in the neck and all. I can hit strums better and the buttons are much easier to get fast sections on.

stop me if you've heard this one. was playing as a band over the weekend and we noticed that it's actually really easy to see whether or not your band has star power available. the sides of your fretboard flash blue.

i've really come around to the four player mechanics of the game now. it's a lot of fun. hopefully there will be a good amount of additional songs released for it.

Ordered. I'll give it a shot at that price, thanks. I'll post if it works. Bare in mind the last time I used one was in high school, I may end up setting the thing on fire.

Guitar/Game bundle only. I changed to the Guitar/Game from the full Band after I heard the drums were crap.

Ah ok, bugger game voucher for £3 off has ended might wait a few days see if another one shows up.

they aren't crap when they work which mine (aside from being a bit unresponsive to light hits) do. i've ordered the usb midi cable thing to resolve that.

hmmm ill give the paper mod a try. thanks. after hitting the back of my GHWT guitar it now up-strums with no problem. :O

On both my Les Pauls. It's surprisingly effective.

There's a song called Nightmare on GHTunes' spotlight section which is very fun to play, but I failed it :(

Rock Band may have more instruments, but Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock totally shreds it when it comes to sales. That's why publisher Activision is keen to kick out multiple sequels this year. We already know GH4 is on its was (as well as a game based on the band Aerosmith), but I'm hearing two more Guitar Hero titles are also in the works, bringing GH3's sequel count to four. And one may star a group that rocks in mysterious ways.

Just want to say that the font choices on Wii are pretty poor. On a 27" SD set the lyrics are very hard to make out, to the point where you have to stand very close to the TV and already have a reasonable idea of what the lyrics are - they really needed a plainer font and/or bigger text. The song titles before you start are completely illegible, which is inexcusable given that they don't need the screen real estate at that point.

Man I think I made my female character too hot, distracts the hell out of me.

I like the graphics a lot, nice to see the crowd in 60 fps

Do the GHTunes songs have different difficulties or do they just come as they are? As a medium player, I doubt I'm able to play anything good from there.

The game will automatically alter the charts to lower the difficulty. Whatever somebody makes is considered expert, then they remove notes to get it down to beginner.

The only time the game looks somewhat decent is when you have a band of mostly females. The guys just look like freaks, but the girls look like decent cartoony characters.

Great! Thanks. And I guess since they alter the charts automatically, many of them will be pretty weird? But it's better than nothing.

You may not have to solder, this thread has a different suggestion:

1) Gently pull slack for the red wire from its base near the center of the GHWT drum kit

2) Strip the red plastic off the end nearest the Red drum pad contact to expose a half-inch of the copper wire

3) Scrape off the old silicone where the old red wire and mark the spot with felt tip pen

4) Place the exposed copper from the red wire on the felt tip marker's area on the Red drum pad's electronic contact

5) Secure the wire to the Red drum pad's electronic contact using a dollop of silicone adhesive

He tried soldering but it only worked for 30 min as he didn't think he soldered it very well, which may be why he suggested this alternative for disconnected wires. He never got some silicone adhesive to try this out, so he ended up having to return the drums.

The charts can be odd. One song I played ended with a star power section, which just makes no sense.

I'll try that sometime. I'll need to go shopping again.

Hey guys, are the Rock Band 1 drums compatible with GH:WT on the Wii?
As far as I know they are not compatible, but I only have random forum posts to go by. I'm hoping the Rockband 2 Wii drums work with GH:WT and don't require a wiimote to work.

I was trying to work out all the instrument compatibility on Wii too. What I seemed to have picked up is that it seems I can use my Guitar Hero III Wii guitars on Rock Band 2 but not Rock Band 1? Is that right? If I bought the Rock Band 1 instruments, it seems I may be able to use in combination with my GHIII Guitar for Rock Band 2, but not Rock Band 1 or for World Tour? Is this part right? And between World Tour and Rock Band 2? Is there nay cross compatibility there? I'm so confused, I found the instrument compatibility matrix but the Wii one is half empty.

That's correct, although its a little harder to tell when you have Star Power AND a streak because it alternates between blue and orange.

is there gold stars in GHWT? or do you have to 100% a song?
Yep gold stars are for 100% again. We are still rewarded for FC, unlike Rock Band. They really need to bring in something for that Platinum stars or something...

I dunno if I like only gold stars for 100%. I like the high score cap better. I think it works amazingly well in RB. It's almost impossible to not miss 1 note....especially on drums. oh well.

I miss the magical, 6th star in GH. It's the single best thing Harmonix did when designing Rock Band. 100% FC is too strict, ***** isn't strict enough.

I like RB gold stars but on the same token I want to be rewarded when I get 100% on a song. My Expert vocals career on RB1 would be 50% FCs but I have no way of telling.

Did they take the zelda theme down or something? I spent all weekend looking for it and couldn't find it. I got the final countdown though, pretty cool.

Why hasnt failspot reviewed GH?

Theyre the only major website that hasnt

I want reviews of the PS2 version to see if there are major flaws...
Maybe they are too busy playing it to do the review, or they could be waiting to review it until they get their drums fixed :D

I disagree entirely. The best thing about GH gold stars is they are available in every difficulty, where as in Rock Band theres no reward unless you are godlike in expert mode.

This page would imply that Gamespot are receiving some nice Guitar Hero money. I'd imagine they've got a bad review ready to go and don't want to publish it while they have a mini site dedicated to the game up.

Thats a good point. I'd forgotten that below-Expert players aren't rewarded for good performances in RB.
