Guitar Hero: World Tour Platform Official Thread

My drum kit has started doing scraching noises when I hit the yell cymbal. I can't believe Red Octane dropped the ball like this. Anybody having the same problem?

Metallica will be a significant upgrade, supposedly.

It seems too early for them to release a whole new drum kit. New hardware I expect, but I've been assuming it'll be additions to the current kit as opposed to "The Metallica Drum Kit". Not that I'd mind; I'd be happy for the chance to buy a drum kit that works.

Although it's not exactly all that fun in the game. The RB Oasis songs are much better, save for Wonderwall.

You mean in game? Yeah definitely. Live Forever > Rock N' Roll Star > Don't Look Back in Anger > Dig Out Your Soul tracks > Some Might Say > Wonderwall

All are the best things ever though. I LOVE YOU NOEL GALLAGHER

I just played the game at my friend's house. He only has guitars, no mic or drums. The game is great. Setlist is amazing. I love the new bass note and how high up in the mix the bass is in most songs. I want to play drums. I'm just waiting for the standalone kit to go on sale. What were the big gripes about this? Never played Rock Band or Rock Band 2 but have played GH2, 3 and A. Interface is fine but I really don't care about scoring well or star power. I'm just playing for fun. The most important thing in a music game is the SETLIST and with a killer setlist, it's a great game.

Just got the standalone game today. Using the GH3 guitar and my headset to save money. No drumkit(waiting on a RB2 drum bundle).

Totally psyched, but the tv's being used :-(

BYOB is ridiculous on bass. I can 5 star it on guitar pretty easy but I havent passed it on bass yet. Only tried a couple times though.

PRETTY EASY? I just got a personal best of 11%

Edit: Gave up and went to hard, I reckon I could FC the chart on hard :(

The ending of the game is absolutely hilarious though, wasn't sure if they meant it to be until the credits came on though. Now it becomes clear, I'm laughing with and not at.

BYOB is the hardest song in that set (on expert). Once you get the pattern down it's manageable, but it took me about an hour of practice to get it burned into my brain.

Can I go back and just play that particular song now? Or do I have to go through the whole set again to get my expert achievement? I might have to hit practice mode seriously for the first time... ever really :s

Some people were bitching on Scorehero that you have to play the entire set again if you went on a lower difficulty to beat anything for the expert achievement.

*edit* D'oh, I misread. I'm not sure about that.

Damn! Who knows when I'm going to get around to it then. Also have I now unlocked all the songs? I noticed I didn't play Satch Boogie, or did I?

edit: nevermind :P

I'm learning how to hit the pads to make them work. I haven't used the kit tunner, since I still doin't have a USB-MIDI cable, but I've improved a lot in how I hit the drum and I fail much less now. However, when things get a bit complicated I tend to fail more, because it's more complicated and because I don't hit the pads that well.

Copy and pasting this from the AusGAF topic, as while the $ values here might not be as relevant the opinion still is (...possibly)

Hate to attempt to derail the thread to some actual gaming discussion here but a friend of mine was talking about Guitar Hero and I decided I wanted to grab World Tour. Now, the thing is I already have GHIII with 2 guitars on Wii. My understanding is that you can't buy just the drums and/or microphone (...yet?) so if I buy WT I'm going to end up with 3 guitars and the fairly gimped, DLC-less, not Rockband compatible Wii version of World Tour.

So... am I better off just scrapping the Wii version, chucking it up on ebay (seems to be going for at least $100 second hand) and just getting my full band going on 360? That way I can grab Rock Band too if I want to, plus the DLC. How much money am I likely to lose doing it this way though (since I'll need to get a 2nd guitar in this scenario).

Make my decision for me. Oh and then tell me the cheapest places to carry out whatever this decision is.

...another thought occurs - my Wii is more portable and therefore more likely to be brought around for parties, which is where I'm likely to want to play these games. That is actually a fair concern for me now that I think about it.

Any opinions? Is it worth 'starting over'?

So who is m3wth33? Do you work for Neversoft or Activision or something?
God no. A competitor, actually. And I think should FINALLY be picking up my GHWT bundle tomorrow.

I just think that after the backlash of GH:A, that Metallica is going to be a much bigger event than GH:A was. I could be completely off base, though. But given the popularity of the RB Metal DLC, I don't think I am.

So far I'm pretty disappointed with the "Complete Band Pack".

The guitar is great but squeaky. The Slidebar, well; most of the time it's pointless or impossible to use it.

Singing: Well singing is singing. duh.

Drums: Oh god the drums. Got my first drumset and it was unresponisve as hell. I was barely hearing things I hit in the music studio.
After two hours of trying out the drums, the red pad was completely broken.
Sent the whole package back to Amazon and got a new one.
This time, the pads were more responsive but again, the red pad died on me.
I already ordered the USB to Midi cable but it will take it's time till I get it.

Right now I'm judging between sending it back again to get my third drumset or sending it back to get a refund.

The major problem is: I'm in Europe, so I can't just go and buy the RockBand 2 drumset. I'm not even sure if it's gonna be released ever in Europe.

What to do... what to do....

The RB2 drum kit is supposed to be out in December in Europe.

I agree the GH drums are a joke at this point, but don't buy the RB drums with the intent of playing them in GH, cos inspite of their superior build quality the 4 pads just don't work in the game. It never feels right.

Touch wood my drums have been excellent, a bit hard to hit orange and Yellow in RB seems to need a good wack so maybe need that tuning kit.

Am I the only one dissapointed with the DLC for WT yet?

On Wii? Cos on the 360 I think there's a lot of good stuff...

you're giving them way to much credit. they're 10x better than the POS RB1 drums I was using, but I still had to RMA a couple times to get a working kit and they still aren't "perfect". The GH kit is still much better at detecting rolls and stuff. I think the GHWT kit is better (except for the stock pedal) once you've tweaked the sensitivity.

So, the drums this gen are way better than the first gen RB1 drums, but still have some improving to do.

FINALLY got my bundle today. Opened it up, but didn't put it together yet. Downloaded the patch and did a quick browse on GHTunes.

I'll fuck around more tonight. Gotta go to a family shindig.

So I started playing performance mode tonight.
really easy stuff like "beat it" and the like.
I didn't do all that awesome, kept getting tripped and stuff - losing the beat and missing a few fills or crashes and whatnot.
ended getting ~90% on the songs, so not terrible, but it wasn't good consistent drumming.
I think I'd like to try some harder songs I know pretty well, maybe the Rise Against song once I've learned it a bit better.
