Guitar Hero: World Tour Platform Official Thread

BigBlackGamer said:
when is the Oasis album dropping? also what happens if you bought the 3 pack already?

Thursday.

I believe the plan is to release all the songs as singles, and a full pack of the album. So if you've already bought the 3 pack, you're stuck buying the rest as singles.

So I just did vocals for the first time, about half the Death Magnetic songs, and it seems a lot more picky than Rock Band. There's always like zigs zags even thought I'm not really changing pitch in my voice at all, is it supposed to do that? I was playing on hard.

PS: Singing

Crushing metal, Ripping Skin
Tossing body mannequin
Spilling Blood, Bleeding Gas

Mangle flesh, Snapping spine
Dripping bloody valentine
Shatter face, spitting glass

Split apart
Split apart
Split apart
Spit
Spit it out!

was about the most badass feeling ever.

It's stricter than Rock Band I'd say. It's not harder to fail (in fact I'd say it's easier to survive) but they rate the whole phase as a percentage, rather than the RB style of requiring you to hit the notes for a certain amount of time to fill up the counter.

megashock5 said:
I noticed this too. I enjoy both games, but RB is much less forgiving on timing.

Guitar Hero is less strict, scientifically. I don't notice it now quite as much as I used to; mainly because now Rock Band has hyperspeed I have next to no issues with their engine. GH does feel like it'll give you the benefit of the doubt sometimes though.

Standalone drums on Feb 15th.

FREE BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN 2-PACK TONIGHT. Available for free for 1 WEEK ONLY. Get it NOW even if you don't own the game yet.

Whao, thanks, grabbed it, roomate is a huge BS fan, he is pumped for BTR

Apologies if this has been addressed before, but my searches didn't turn anything up -

Is there any way to turn off the vocals on the master track? I turned them down all the way in the options menu, also turned the mic volume all the way up, but the original singer still comes out louder than whoever's singing. As it is, there's no point in having a singer in the band.

Any word on when the codes for the 5 free songs are coming out? It's been 6 weeks since they first put it up, and they said 4-6 weeks.

I used the web based marketplace to download this, and it says it's one of those Gold exlusive offers - so when it's available to silver's next week they'll have to pay?

Is this the same for PSN users too? A mate of mine has GHWT on his PS3 and was looking forward to this pack. I haven't heard from him yet though, so don't know if he downloaded it or not.

Thing is, if it's free to Gold users, and free to PSN users, silver users are unfairly screwed.

Yup, it is free on PSN...

Stupid Xbox Live bullshit. I don't like how they always screw over Silver members. In any case, I think the free download is up until Feb 4th, which means you have like 2 days to download it for free assuming it was put up on Monday.

They made the Burnout Paradise update patch for gold only the first week too, which was also very stupid. I dont know why they're making that stuff gold only. Especially demos. But that rant is for another thread.

I'm disappointed. Born to Run is not fun to play on guitar at all. :\

I reeealy hate the new HO two finger chords they added in GH:WT. ugh.

every time I give GH a chance and pop it in, i can't help but feel I am getting a much inferior experience than Rock Band. its just not nearly as fun. I think I'm done trying to give it chances.

Finally got this game, and have had some time to play it.

1. Why can't I play along using the Wiimote anymore :s.

2. I can play DLC off my SD card, right? Can I download songs directly to the SD card? How? Right now it wants me to go out into the Wii Menu and move each song from the hard drive to the SD card individually, seeing as I don't have much space left and the songs take up quite some space.

Okay, good news and bad news.

The good news... the drums will be sold separately starting February 15th!

The bad news... they'll be sold for $100.

What a freaking ripoff.

Man, aren't there any like pads for the drum kit that will make them sound less out yet? I had a pissed off neighbour up at my place this weekend when I and a few friends were trying to play :/

I see the OP says you can use any USB mic with this, but my question is where do you actually find one that isn't one of those silly desktop voice conferencing ones? None of the shops I went in today seemed to have anything that would be suitable, and online the only suitable mic I've found is the Logitech Vantage. Is this my only option, or are there other suitable mics?

You can use any.

The Logitech Vantage is actually the same mic GH and RB use, I think. It's just rebranded.

I have that one and it's def not the same as the GH one. It's lighter and doesn't seem to pick up as well as the GH one.

1. No idea, but why would you want to?
2. When you download a song it downloads to the console memory (so you need at least maybe 250-300 blocks free on the console) and then it asks you whether you want to transfer to SD card. Click yes and it transfers it automatically (and relatively quickly). After this you can pretty much forget that it is on the SD card, except you need your 250-300 blocks free to play it (I am pretty sure) and it is slightyl slower to load.

I think you missed the main point of my post slightly, which is that all the USB mics I've seen so far have been of the desktop stand variety and are not the sort that you would use for singing. I'm just wondering if there are any "proper" USB mics other than the Logitech Vantage.

What other mic would you recommend then? Given that the GH one is not an option since they do not sell it separately.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, this is in regard to the 360 version of the game, if it makes any difference.

Honestly I'm not too sure, the Vantage mic isn't bad or anything, but the GH mics I've found work better. If you can find the Vantage one cheap by all means go for it. There's also the mad catz one with the control on it that's supposed to be good.

Hopefully GH (and RB) and patched to support the Lips mics though, by far the best ones I've seen for a video game

1. I got the game as a present that couldn't be returned and it was fun enough to play then game with friends using the Wiimote on GH3, so I thought my plan might have been that for GH4 as well. Appearantly not :/

2. Ah, nice. Thank you :)

Does anyone know where I can find a comparison of the songs in rb2 vs ghwt? I know there are alot of overlapping songs so I want to decide based on what the differences are.

Next week we get the acoustic stuff, but what is the dlc for this week?

http://community.guitarhero.com/forums/55708/forum_topics/991493

Then get ready because on February 5th, we will be offering the Southern Rock Track Pack!!

The Southern Rock Track Pack will feature the Creedence Clearwater Revival track ''Commotion'' from their 1969 album Green River. Also included in the Track Pack are cover versions of the classic rock tracks ''Black Betty'' and ''Gimme All Your Lovin'.''

Black Betty! Awesome... but a cover? Hopefully it is the Spiderbait version. Actually, Ram Jams version was a cover too, wasn't it?

I got the Vantage last week and it's awesome. I don't know if my RB1 mic was half dead, but the Vantage definitely works better.

It has plug and play with PCs too.

Edit: It's like $25 on amazon.

I know there were some early compatibility issues, but do the Rock Band 2 instruments work with GHWT for the PS3 after a patch or something? I think it was the drums specifically that did not work.

Thanks

They should work out of the box.

I have the RB2 guitar and drums and they work fine with GHWT.

I don't I have ever downloaded/installed a patch for GHWT.

I have had both since November

Damn 100 bucks for the drums.

I still dont have the game and they have the band bundle for 20 bucks off at best buy.

I think I'll just save up for the bundle if it's gonna be $169.99

--I hope they release some tool DLC

I got Rockband 2 for $159 after tax and Guitar Hero WT: Guitar Bundle for like $70 after tax at Circuit City... If you have any near you.

They were 20% off due to going out of business.

Anyone have that Low rap song? I would like to see some more rap songs... just curious how it plays in GHWT. I assume the guitar is terrible.

Eh, I figure they didn't totally nail down how this was going to be distributed.

There's heavy limitations on DLC codes for both consoles, and honestly I have no clue what the hell they thought they were doing, letting us pick.

I have a feeling we're going to get 5 codes, one for each song we picked. It'd be a goddamn NIGHTMARE to make a custom 5-song pack for everybody that registered.

Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits coming?

To reach that number, Activision Blizzard’s releasing “Guitar Hero: Metallica,” a new “Guitar Hero” on the DS and a “Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits” across multiple platforms. Additionally, Griffith said “Guitar Hero” will see a “restage” near end of the year (think “Guitar Hero: World Tour 2″) and the introduction if their new music franchise, “DJ Hero,” set to arrive before the end of 2009.

From Kotaku:

Mike Griffith, president and CEO of Activision Publishing, announced the Greatest Hits repackaging during today's quarterly earnings call, a collection it plans to ship this year for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii.

Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits will feature favorites from previous entries — Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, etc. — updated for full band play, which Activision introduced with World Tour. While to you that may mean playing "Through the Fire and the Flames" on drums, to me it means percussion duties on A Flock of Seagulls "I Ran."
