Guitar Hero: World Tour Platform Official Thread

Same lead singer/guitarist, new lineup though. New bassist/keyboardist and drummer, and they added a second guitar.

I have no qualms of a band reforming as long as the singer is still the same.

I think Activision are registering all these trademarks pre-emtively to stop them from being taken by another company for a rival music game. Nothing has come of Drum or Guitar Villain.

I would have thought that, but why is there a GH5 and a Band Hero planned?

I wouldn't be surprised if there's some truth to that, but I think they're definately moving towards breaking up the franchises. There's no way they could release a game named "Band Hero" though, surely.

They've obviously been playing Shitty Brand Hero if they're really considering going ahead with "Band Hero" or "Sing Hero". Surely it'd be Microphone Hero anyway? :P

The whole point of having to choose songs for all instruments is why it would have been nice for Guitar Hero to splinter from the band stuff, but now the GH band is a 4 piece experience thanks to World Tour and the games afterwards, there we go.

Also, GH2 is the only situation in which I will like a My Chemical Romance song. And Dead! is awesome to play.

Well I got most of the tougher GH2 achievements over the past weekend. A friend and I got the 1,000,000 coop achiement with Freebird on hard...really not too tough, as long as you can keep a combo going most of the time. Got expert 5* as well.

Only tough achievements left are Jordan Expert, which shouldn't be too hard once I get used to Select SP activation again, and 500,000 points, which will take an FC of X-Treme or Killing in the Name. I've done both on the PS2, so it shouldn't be a problem (though will still probably the toughest achievement left to get). Then I'll be left with the pain in the ass Easy/Medium/Hard achievements.

Also, about GH2, I have to ask...wtf is with all the cheaters on the leaderboards? The top 100 scores of any song are almost all hacked.

I am kinda with Dave on this one, as I only really care about the guitar. However, I know for a goddamn fact that there will be songs across all the "Hero" brand I will want to play, making it a fucking chore either to a) buy all these fucking games, or b) swap discs out every ten minutes to play the best fucking songs. Also, what happens if a song is good on guitar and vocals, what is the criteria Activision will use to decide which brand the songs gets included in? If more Tool songs go to "Drum Hero" than "Guitar Hero" I am going to lose my fucking mind (which is a distinct possibility as Carey > Jones).

VH will be out before GH:5, I'm sure. Presumably GH:5 will have a new engine. Well, as new as a GH engine can be.

Most of the rumors is been from a blog, so I don't know that I can take that all that seriously.

I think we can take seriously the prospect of at least 3 more GH games this year after Metallica. Other than that, I doubt anything concrete has been settled on.

The Against Me tracks are OK. I FC'd two of them, one had an annoying chord transition I couldn't cope with. Nothing amazing but I think I'll get my money from them trying to get good scores. The good thing about GH's DLC not being overly popular is I'm often in the top 10 or 20 or so scores (for songs that aren't too hard). So it gives me reason to replay.

Rise Against, not Against Me

I agree though, the songs aren't bad, however I like them because i love Rise Against

Playing through all the songs again to keep track of my scores has proved one thing: Assassin is the worst song in any Guitar-based game ever. Even worse than Snow, or Welcome to the Neighborhood, and even Visions

Saw a link to this on Kotaku, Stan Bush sends email to popular Transformers fansite:

Also, I've been holding off announcing this, but "The Touch" is going to be in Guitar Hero! Activision will be releasing it as a free download. I'll contact Activision this week to find out the release date and let you know.

<snip>

Lastly, we're just finishing up a totally new, killer version of "The Touch" which we'll be submitting for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. I'll send you an MP3 as soon as it's done.

You shouldn't expect much from me when it comes to the last few songs in GH:3. I just five stared 3's and 7's for the first time ever. Although it was easy as hell; I guess I've got better with my mad fingering action, ladies.

I'm good enough to not sweat beating a game, and good enough to beat 99% of songs, but not good enough to usually get a score worthy of boasting about on the harder tier songs.

Meh that game was easy even in the later tiers just because the engine is so forgiving. If it was RB or GH2 engine TTFAF FC wouldn't be anywhere near possible :P

My problem has always been tricky chord transitions. So something like 3's and 7's was really hard for me a year ago. Now it's not as bad. I just ***** about 5 or 6 songs I'd not been able to before.

So I broke my drum pedal today...what's the process of RMA like?

I like the Crue and there's still a few tracks that I'd like to see come out in these games, but we need another themed Guitar Hero like a hole in the head. It was probably a fruitless effort on Activision's part, but sheesh.

reminds me of the last 1up Yours show: bizdev'ed by people who liked these bands when they were teenagers. Seriously.

Yeah, they should make games for bands that have two albums. That would make way more sense.

Random question for dead thread, i sifted through and may have missed it though. Will Guitar hero legends of rock DLC work with World tour?

that's not what I was saying and you (should) know it. Van Halen hasn't had an album that mattered in years so there are definitely better bands to pick from.

edit: I meant Motley Crue, posted Van Halen, but the argument stands either way.

Yeah, I'm not going to lie and I'll just flat-out say that Van Halen isn't a very good band to focus your game on. Their most popular stuff is really boring outside of Panama and no one really knows the stuff that would be a shitload of fun to play, like I'm The One or Atomic Punk. Whereas Aerosmith was full of missed opportunities, Van Halen barely has enough material that people would even care for. I'm a bit hopeful that the title leak being Hard Rock: Van Halen means that they're going to taking more of backseat than Aerosmith or Metallica, but I'm already bracing myself for utter shitfests like Right Now.

Also, and I'm sure this is as futile a plea as anyone asking for disc exports, but I really do wish that they'd have the sense to not price these at $60. I can sort of see Metallica justifying the cost just because of the new features, but I still think they should be $50 at most, with $40 being a much more appropriate price.

I don't think there will be a video game released with more than 20% of tracklist being by VH. Or Motley Crue for that matter. But those kinda bands still make sense to me for Guitar Hero. The franchise shouldn't be about popular music by default.
