So if I needed something that wieghed 500KG's lifted just a ittle bit of the ground and not moved anywhere, then I guess I would call this guy.

What's the point of being able to do such a useless task? Lifting a big weight over your head I can see has some point to it, because, shelves are high sometimes.

I hope this pops up on that worst post on neogaf twitter

Ahh yes of course, drop down helicopter kick into fly away or

Yeah in general it's a pretty good idea to stay away from someone that could easily rip you in half with his bear bare (edit: bear would probably work too actually) hands.

I don't understand how their spines or any back of their back isn't completely fucked. I lift 40lbs stuff at work and after a day I'm tight everywhere.

My favorite part is how he glances to the side after the judge gives him the go-ahead to put it down. What a badass.

Back getting "tight" from lifting is normal but your spine shouldn't be hurting. That's a form issue.

It's a competitive sport. What's the point of doing anything using your reasoning?

Larry Allen could bench press 700 lbs and Squat 900. Of course he could practically use that to maul people in the NFL for millions of dollars. He could also run fast:

Nah. I think a lot of people generally share something that's close to that opinion.

And it's a shitty opinion. The man is breaking records for his sport. Powerlifting is a sport. It's super niche but it is a sport that has national and international bodies governing it.

For records. Plus him being able to lift that much means he could probably destroy anyone in open combat. Useful in the apocalyptic future we are barreling towards.

Not so useful when he runs out of the amount of food needed to maintain that body and starves to death.

I wonder. A chimpanzee is obviously stronger than a human, but would a chimpanzee be capable of doing this? naturally of course.

Starves? Look at those fat stores. He'll be better off than most in a zombie apocalypse scenario. Coupled with being hella strong and I'll bet on him more than most.

It's not one extreme or the other. You can be strong as shit and have an aesthetically pleasing body.

Impressive, but isn't the ROM really small because of the height of these tires? Just implying that if those were plates instead of tires he would have to bend deeper to lift them up, more difficult lift then.

As people said your form is most likely wrong.
You keep your back straight (at the natural arch your back is in) and knees bent when picking up the weight. You lift with your legs and thrust forward with your hips.

Actually natty powerlifters are usually pretty lean. Being fat is a disadvantage because of weight classes.

Natty powerlifters are usually less lean than their geared up counterparts. The really strong Nattys that is and those are rare as hell.

Shit, chances are anyone you're talking about isn't natty anyway. Especially if they are making money off of it.

In the modern world I am sure it barely matters.

That's underestimating it. Muscle mass in an insurance policy in things like car accidents.

Besides it's not just muscle but stronger bones and tendons. As you age that becomes very important. Many elderly die due to brittle bones breaking from falls and such. So yes it is very useful, even in the modern world.

Strong people are harder to kill in general.
