Haco Life single handedly validates DSiware

Er...are any of the other DSi Artstyles recommended? Picopict maybe?

(recommended in the sense of spending that final 500pts...I can always save it for something else months down the line, but j-points are obviously not as easy to acquire.)

NoA should announce some DSiWares titles soon...
or I'll get a jp DSi in summer ><

Don't do it - you won't be able to connect to the internet because it's region-locked. You can only play these DSiWare games if you live in Japan.

To continue Stumpokapow's line of thought,

erm no

The DSi Store is region locked. Download DSiware from wherever you want, but the shop, points, and games available will be locked to the region you bought the DSi from.

Ah, that's (sort of) good news. Is there a guide anywhere with information about connection problems? I've tried to connect wirelessly to my home hub but to no avail.

If your DS og DS lite could connect, so can the DSi. I have a japanese DSi and is using it in Europe. No problems here.

Buy it.

Also, forget what I said about Wii Music. (Phantom Hourglass is still the best zelda since Ocarina though, fuck you haters.)

Turncoat.

Wii Music is still one of the finest.. oh I won't even bother.

I never bought hacolife... maybe I'll get it this.. oh no, Dragon Quest Wars.

so did you change your opinion about wii music? it wasnt a guarantee of awesomeness but more of a its not so bad as the media is making it sound and you should give a chance by at least tryng it for yourself.

also about PH you are just crazy....

still dont have a dsi but will eventually get one.
all i need is a retail dsi only killer app

So I've largely ignored any DSi related news, including DSiWare. Is there any chance Nintendo will eventually release a DSiWare compilation on a cart? I don't want to have to buy a new DS but damn, I want this.

sprks's original post makes it sound like it's available everywhere when he played it, wish he wouldn't do that..........

but it's available today, so... awesome!

Oh man. I bought this game today and now it's 5 hours later.

Crack. Haco Life is crack.

The basic premise is that you have these squares, and you have to cut them up to make boxes in various ways.

To be honest, when I first saw footage of the game I thought it looked pretty lame and a little too outside of my puzzle solving abilities. So I didn't buy this game till today cause I beat GCCX2 and had nothing new to play. Now that I got it though and got to play the game a little, I'm seeing boxes everywhere. The game is separated into two parts, a puzzle mode called "Trial" and a free mode called "Factory." Trial starts you out with one way to make a box and presents you with 10 challenges, cutting up sheets of squares to make a set number of boxes per stage. As you go through trial it gives you more and more ways to cut up and build boxes which makes the different trials harder and harder. As you beat the trial your status in the company goes up and you get new types of clothing for your avatar.

Oh yeah, this whole game revolves around this isometric pixel art guy and his box of a house. I'll get back to this in a bit.

Anywho, after you play trial for a bit, you unlock the Factory mode. The factory mode is essentially a big huge sheet where you are free to cut up boxes how you will and you get money for the amount of boxes you make plus some extra stuff. The thing you need to be careful about is that if you leave extra squares, eventually youll have to drop them off and you end up paying for the wasted material. Also in this mode are bombs that drop and if are left alone destroy the surrounding blocks. If you wrap these up in boxes you get 5000yen per bomb. As you play this mode you get money that buys you stuff to go in your house. The first thing I got was a little fern to go in my garden, it's pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

If you have a DSi, and you have 500 wii points, buy this game. It comes with the sp0rsk guarantee of awesomeness.

On the other hand, Nalaku was really disappointing. Hacolife is definitely the better of the two. HacoLife is the best Art style game on the DSi at the moment, easily. I think.

Here's some video I found on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch2ujljXK1Y

This game and that animation app (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFwD7P8e2F0&feature=related) look like very very cool applications to toy around with :).

Well, it's not like Wii Music is a bad game. It just shouldn't come with a "guarantee of awesomeness" because, while some may find it awesome, some may not. The game isn't just something everyone can enjoy; it has a far more particular audience than any of Nintendo's other games.

It's a quality piece of software, but not everyone will enjoy it or even be able to acknowledge its quality in the same way that they might be able to for a great 500 point DSi game.
