Halo 3: Episodic Content From Day One?

People don't realise that this is content OUTSIDE of the actual game

like they might do episodes based on the planet Reach

halo 3 won't end with a cliffhanger and you have to buy the rest of the game. It's nothing like that. It's additional content in which to further your enjoyment with the game.

Personally i would love to have 3 new levels every 6 months. Considering this might be the last halo game, i don't want it to end. Halo games have some of the best gameplay and the more fresh new experiences they can offer me with minimal fee, the more i'm happy.

I would actually like a Half Life approach. Some "standard" episodes would be cool, but I'd like to see some really big diversity.

I know, some may say it ruins the point of "Halo", but I mean stuff like a few episodes where you're just a Marine squad leader, or Sarge in his escape... Stuff like that.

*shrugs*

buying episodic content just to talk about it? wtf? im here to play games, not converse about them

BUT THINK OF ALL THE FUN YOU COULD HAVE TALKING TO THE CLERKS AT GAMESTOPPPP

How can you all bitch and moan about something you have never experienced? I mean really, atleast wait to see how things pan out. Right now I would kill for some more single player content for GRAW and I sure many others would too.

yeah, because you need to experience something to know it will be bad...

I highly doubt it'll be the case for the main storyline.

That said, i'd love to see a rework of classic Halo and Halo 2 missions with the new engine. Imagine "The Silent Cartographer" with Halo 3's engine and online coop. I know i'd pay for that.

I don't understand the backlash against episodic content. I say the first game to do it right will be an absolute phemomenon. Cliffy B can talk all we wants about water cooler moments in Gears of War (and I'm sure they'll be there) but episodic content offers a much better method of delivering on those moments than a full game as they're made now. With a 25 hour game, different peope who buy the same game on the same day will be at different parts of the game in 2 days. With a 1-3 hour "episode," most people will have played through it a day or two later, and they can all participate in the water cooler discussion.

It is happening right now with the impending release of Half Life 2 Aftermath. Of course Valve has that whole Steam thing which helps out. The problem with episodic content on the 360 is hdd space. 20 gigs isn't going to be big enough if publishers are going to starting releasing 500-1 gig episodic content add ons to games.

In this case yes because you dont know what they will add. Playing a couple extra GTA missions the PS3 doesnt have....how great would that be?

I mainly buy games for single player and most times when I am done with them I never play them again or sell them. Episodic content in my case would prolong the life of my games....which is good thing. I hope it catches on and does well so our games that dont have multiplayer wont just sit and collect dust.

Also how come no one is complaining about new maps for the mulitiplayer portion of games being released? Anyone honestly against new mp maps for GRAW? If no how could you possible be against new missions for the single player.

Ummmmm... that guy could barely pronounce "Master Chief", and could barely describe Gears of War or Halo 3...

I'd hardly take his word for this - not saying it won't happen, but he sure as hell didn't sound sure...

Plus I'm sure that episodic content would mean more stuff like side stories, even stories from the books... Halo 3 the game we buy on day on is supposed to have closure to the story...

not great if i had to pay more, which i wouldn't, so i wouldn't play them?

and i'm against graw due to it's lack of proper controller configuration... maybe if they got the basics right they could worry about adding extra shit?
