Which is crap, but you can take pretty much any product category and do the same thing. I still recall how giant sets that used to be released in Japan or Europe were lusted after for years before they really started showing up here. And when they did, people who are not interested and don't want them get all upset. If this were the only version, or if they cut the CE and this was the only collector's edition, that would be one thing.C4Lukins said:I have already seen someone try to respond to this arguement by explaining how movies are different frp, video games and should not be compared in anyway.
Halo. One of the most popular and proven game series ever. One of the most anticipated games ever to be released.beelzebozo said:blade runner. twenty-five years old. classic. proven worthy of an extensive collector's edition.
new products with collector's editions are always questionable

Frickin' sexy. I'm putting that bad boy next to my Halo 3 console, tan Spartan and tan Elite Heretic Elite figures.Hooterville said:

You could try using it as a cup.Linkzg said:im starting to think that preordering the cat helmet version was a bad idea, I have no where to put it and dont even own a cat.

Why would anyone eat celery? I hate it.

I hope you realize that you are not arguing over this instance, but the very concept of a collector's edition of anything, ever.beelzebozo said:still an unproven game. if they were releasing a blade runner 2 collector's edition with a bust of harrison ford anyone would have equal grounds for laughing at it

"The exclusive Halo 3 Legendary Edition shame cover, for when you have people over"
You should have no problem getting one of those day one, just walk into almost any game store. You can find copies of the Halo 2 CE to this day.Chiggs said:Gah! None of my local Gamestops are taking preorders for the $69.99 version. I had to go with the crappy normal one. I am not amused!

pooteeweet said:Oh, I want it, but I'm not spending an extra $60 for it. I want that helmet. I would totally turn that mofo into a soup bowl. I'd be eating beef stew out of it while watching football.
bryehn said:I just can't wait for people to actually start putting the helmets on cats.
Cathcart said:Someone who has been paying attention please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the helmet is not actually cat wearable because it isn't hollow. Like it's a solid chunk of helmet or something. I guess you could do that yourself, though.
I'm getting Legendary and Limited. I'm kinda hoping they release a version where Master Chief gives financial advice, because clearly I have no idea what to do with my money.
Not those HD cutscenes from Halo 1 and 2.border said:Helmet still looks pretty crappy and chintzy in the production model. I've seen better reproductions on cosplayers (who made full-size helmets, no less). The one here doesn't really look like the right shade of green and the texture/luster is all off.
I still considered getting the Legendary version for the extra discs but meh, I watched the Halo 2: LE disc once and never bothered with it again. Somebody will rip the contents of the extra 2 dvds and put them on YouTube or something.

why can't they have quality packaging?
Someone could put HD cutscenes from Halo 1 and 2 on the internet today, tomorrow, or a month ago. All you have to do is play the PC version(s) in high-rez, or emulate it on the Xbox 360 in 720p.striKeVillain! said:Not those HD cutscenes from Halo 1 and 2.![]()
I love the tin cases. I still need to pick up the Lost Planet CE. My favorite tin case thus far has been the Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory release. Just love the raised blood trickles.Brandon F said:Meh, I still think the tin case is sexier...and about $60 cheaper.
Might have to downscale to a tin next Tuesday.
Hooterville said:It has those crappy rubber nubs that hold the disc's onto the metal tin like the Prey Collectors Edition did which was the biggest POS ever.

This is pretty much my reasoning towards getting it.BenjaminBirdie said:I'm getting the legendary for the extra content. Surely I'm not the only one. The helmet is sort of cool I guess, but I really want all the bonus stuff, like the expanded beastiary and the remastered cutscenes and commentary (!!!).
Darunia said:Yeah I would've loved all the extra stuff the Legendary version offered, but ... 130 is way too much money for a videogame, even for a content whore like me (love listening to commentaries, making ofs etc). You're basically stuck with the helmet if you just want the content, which is why I think the Legendary version as a whole sucks.
Man if only every game did it like GoW II (at least how it was handled in America): one version, no fuss, no muss. Everyone gets the making ofs, interviews, etc. Just one 'two disc edition'.
Does anyone have a better picture showing the rubber nubs?Hooterville said:It has those crappy rubber nubs that hold the disc's onto the metal tin like the Prey Collectors Edition did which was the biggest POS ever.
BenjaminBirdie said:Yeah they definitely have you over a barrel for all that stuff but if there was ever game shipping with enough content to justify an insane asking price, it'd probably be this one. At least that's what I'll be telling myself on the third block of dragging this fucker home Monday night.
