dante786 said:This is not to say Halo: CE campaign is broken, I always enjoyed the overall campaign much more in CE, but something about the multiplayer just feels off. Well honestly, a bunch of things feel off, most notably the horrible balance and every match essentially becoming a pistol duel with the occaisional grenade thrown in.

Am I the only one who feels like this game is reaaaaallllly dated. I mean, after having played the shit out of the halo 3 beta, I just can never go back to it.

I know a ton of people prefer Halo CE multiplayer, and tons were clammoring for bungie to include the pistol in Halo 3....I for one am thanking god that they have not. The balancing in halo 3, the feel of the weapons....the assault rifle, oh god the assault rifle, its actually viable. Even the explosions, which i still loved because of their impact, Im glad theyve been slightly toned down, they could still use a little beefing up, but they were a little overpowering.
These observations are obviously months late, but I hadnt played Halo CE in a loooong time, months before the beta came out, so these impressions just hit me.

I really don't think it's leaked, yet. Nothing's showing up on my usenet or torrent sites. I guess if it happened recently, it might still be making its way to the public sites, but I honestly think that the image is showing a fake file.GavinGT said:No, it was Ghaleon's immense disdain for these Xbox pirates who are quite possibly playing Halo 3 at this very moment. We all sensed it in that period.
The Lamonster said:It blows my mind when people still call Halo 1 Halo: CE. Bungie has said they prefer Halo without the 'combat evolved' and it was added at the last minute by Microsoft. To most Halo fans, Halo: CE refers to the PC 'custom edition.' Semantics, I know. But it still annoys me to this day.
Also, you are wrong about Halo's multiplayer. It was awesome. And it still is.

dante786 said:Im not saying the multiplayer in Halo CE isnt awesome , im just saying it degrades into a pistol fest, and has serious balance issues. Also the running and jumping feel floaty. So yeah basically compared to Halo 3 its not awesome....its signficantly less than awesome. In my estimation anyway. [spoilers]halo: CE[/spoilers]

dante786 said:The assault rifle??? The thing is completely useless, completely. Ranged its crap and sprays everywhere, up close its bullets are like spitballs and its crap. The pistol schools it in every situation. Which is no surprise because the pistol schools almost every weapon in most situations.
Also numbers sorry, didnt ignore it i just didnt see it. While the BR is pretty prevalent i still feel like its not quite as dominant as the pistol in Halo. Still though, point taken, and yet another reason why Halo 3 is much much better than either.

And one thing you left out in talking about Halo multiplayer - the maps were awesome.

Better than the Halo 2 slurpee?SHOTEH FOCK OP said:I had a Slurpee in a Halo 3 lenticular cup today, and it was the best-tasting Slurpee ever.
Each day at work I drink from the UNSC water bottle (which is 20 oz, not the 12 listed) and find the refreshment to be excellent. Kool-Aid is particularly refreshing when consumed from this container.SHOTEH FOCK OP said:I had a Slurpee in a Halo 3 lenticular cup today, and it was the best-tasting Slurpee ever.

With the advent of Forge, Halo 3's map editor, the breadth of the game's customization has expanded exponentially; Bungie Recommends is the developer's way of regularly "bubbling up" the best and most interesting/ridiculous/fun user-created gametypes, map variants, screenshots and Saved Films that are floating around the Halo-verse, as well as those that Bungie creates itself.Accessible from within Halo 3's online menus, the feature is essentially a file list split into categories that you can browse and download from.
Regenerator & Invincibility
We got a taste of the shield-depleting Power Drainer in the Multiplayer Beta; the Regenerator works the opposite way, constantly recharging the shields of anyone standing in its sphere of influence. It's a great defensive item, especially for guarding flags, hills, etc., as it essentially makes you invulnerable outside of one-hit kills. We have yet to find out what happens when you drop a Regenerator next to a Power Drain, but we expect our 360s would implode. Invincibility should be fairly self-explanatory; we only experienced it in single-player, but it will definitely be available -- though sparsely -- in multiplayer. It makes the user completely invincible for about seven seconds, and we can't wait to experiment with the results. (Covering an invincible player in plasma grenades to storm a base? Anyone?)
That's the thing though - it felt weak, but (in campaign at least) wasn't really. In the first Halo, I trucked that Assault Rifle into situations where it was downright inadvisable to do so just because that thing was so damn satisfying to fire. Just the simple act of firing guns in Halo was fun. In Halo 2, with a few exceptions (Battle Rifle, namely) the entire weapon feedback loop lacked oomph. So depite the relative effectiveness of the SMG, I ditched it for other stuff because it wasn't interesting to use.cjelly said:I meant in Halo 2.It felt so weak.

In Halo 3, though. Damn. The SMG sounded like a wild beast. They could nerf the hell out of it but I'd still use it, barreling into fights yelling "I'm a Spartan hear me roar!" Which is to say, the feedback loop in Halo 3 is pretty good.![]()
The sound effects for the majority of the guns in Halo 3 are better. The sniper rifle and the SMG are two that stood out the most to me.GhaleonEB said:In Halo 3, though. Damn.
