REQing Halo



Halo 5 introduces the REQ system. It designed to reward and encourage players to play Halo 5 by giving them points and cards that can be exchanged for in game items.

  • Requisition (REQ): A REQ is an unlockable item that comes in the form of weapons and armors, skins, assassination animations, and more.
  • REQ Points: Players will earn REQ Points after each match in Arena or Warzone matchmaking, which can then be redeedmed for REQ Packs containing a variety of Requisition Cards (REQ Cards) in the form of unlockable weapons, armors, vehicles, and more.
  • REQ Cards: Varying in type and rarity, REQ Cards offer a massive variety of items including single use items and permanent items. We’ll take a look at a few cards today.
  • REQ Packs: REQ Packs contain REQ Cards, and come in multiple varieties – more on that later. Each pack contains a wide array of items. REQ Packs can be purchased with REQ Points earned for free in-game, or with real-world money. A portion of each REQ Pack purchased with real-world money will directly contribute to the Halo World Championship prize pool. As a reminder, while players will earn REQ Packs across both Arena and Warzone, only cosmetic items can be used in Arena Multiplayer.
  • REQ Store: Players can easily access the REQ Store from the Spartan Hub, which will allow them to acquire REQ Packs. It’s worth noting that aside from a few select exclusive items, everything in REQ System can be acquired through the regular course of play by earning REQ Points and redeeming them for REQ Packs.
  • REQ Collection: The REQ Collection allows players to view the full suite of available REQ Cards. By filtering through the list, players can see not only the REQs they own, but also examine those they’ve yet to unlock. Additionally, players may manage their collection by selling individual single use REQs back into the system for REQ Points they can then use to unlock additional REQ Packs.

What are promotional REQ packs?

A promotional REQ pack is a type of Halo 5 REQ pack that often can only be earned by redeeming a unique code. They contain, in addition to the normal assortment of randomized cards, special pre-determined items. These pre-determined items are also, in some cases, exclusive to the promotional REQ pack they come in. They can be earned through various promotions, such as pre-ordering Halo 5 at a participating retailer or buying specially marked products, such as those from Mega Bloks, McFarlane Toys, or even Hot Pockets.

This new mode pits two teams of 12 players against each other as they vie for map control and dominance in some of the biggest maps in the Halo franchise. Fighting against and alongside AI controlled units, players can utilise the full REQ experience and earn points to call in weapons and vehicles into the battlefield. Warzone is the only massive multiplayer experience available in Halo 5 at launch.

A Warzone variant, with no AI, is also provided.





Arena is the equal start, competitive Halo experience that has defined the series. The Arena forms the basis of Halo 5 as a compeitive e-sport and provides players with a skilled based compeitive experience. REQ packs and points can be earned in Arena, but no used.

No JIP: You will never join an Arena match that's already in progress.

Competitive Skill Ranking (CSR): When you play Halo 5 for the first time, you'll first have to complete a series of "placement matches" before receiving a CSR. Finish 10 games and you'll be placed into one of seven CSR ranks

Matchmaking: The algorithm prioritizes match quality "above all else." This begins by attempting to find other combatants at your exact CSR. If that's not enough, the pool will be widened to include players who are "around your same skill."

Seasons: These challenge players to reach the highest CSR possible in one month. They take place in "select Seasonal Arena playlists" and reset every month. Special cosmetic rewards are given to top players.

Game Modes

Breakout
Single elimination, team based slayer. You have one life and do not revive. Kill the enemy team before they kill your team. Multiple rounds ensures you can lose a few and still rally back to victory.

Team Slayer
Do the kills on the other team faces.

Capture the Flag
Satisfy your team's pole fetish hording needs. Juggle the flag to victory.

Strongholds
It's like territories. Except not territories. But it's totally territories.

BTB with the Battle of Shadow and Light update is almost here. Don't think BTB should be ranked though.
so it is sith against jedi in btb? way to fight battlefront.


game is really still lacking in content, even after tomorrow. grifball etc all missing is bad..but arena every day for a hour is fun..just not as relaxing as a few games of objective only would be.
When is the update out?

Halo discussion on the NPD thread is weird..People talking about 937k sales or something but how can you gain 400 mil sales without selling at least 3-4 mil. copies ? Will we ever get official numbers ?

First match of warzone, enemy team has one guys pushing 40 kills and one 60. Game after, two 40's. Our team fumbles on defense, base control, bosses and whatever. What a shit show.
Warzone is great for the amazing come backs if nothing else.

We were leading a team 850 to 500, but they managed to make a push to capture all the bases leaving us on the defensive. Then they killed the warden pushing them up above us ever so slightly. The fact that they owned the bases also meant they were getting points much more rapidly. It looked like they were going to win with a score of 992 to 978 when one of our guys managed to take down an AI boss for the win. Great match it was.

Does anyone have any exact details for the scopes, attachments and armour mods? 343 are vague in some of the descriptions, but I think the info will be useful to help people decide between one perk or another.

Smart Link Variants
CQB Sight (SMG default) - 1.2x scope?
Projection Sight (AR default) - 1.5x scope?
Recon Scope (BR default) - 2x scope?
Longshot Scope (DMR default) - 3x scope?
Sentinel Scope (Special) - Variable 4x/6x scope

Long Barrel - “Increases effective range”
— Increase to/by what? 10%? 25%? 33%? 50%?
— Does it differ by weapon?

— Range by how much?
— Does this also include Spartan Charge? - IMO, the last thing the game needs is Spartan Charge being even more effective that it currently is...
Kinetic Bolts - “Augment knockback and damage against vehicles”
— With de-scoping replacing flinch, what effect does knockback have currently?
— How do the bolts affect this?
— What kind of damage against vehicles are we talking about?
— Does it differ by weapon? because BR's are already pretty damaging to Banshees.

— What is the increase to Range and Sensitivity? I've heard this means you can see people crouch walking — is this true?
— What exactly are you doing to enemy motion trackers, I have heard that default movement speed won't show you - only sprinting. Can anyone confirm?
Auto-Medic - “Increased shield recharge rate and health recovery.”
— What level increase to shield/health recovery are we talking about?
— Are the changes to the delay before the recharge, the actual speed of regeneration, or both?
Upgraded Shields - “Increased shield strength.”
What is the exact increase to shield strength? Will an overshield's value be calculated based off the new strength?
Or will it, more sensibly, retain its standard value?
Frag Grenade Expert - Start with extra frag, max frags increased
Reflex Enhancers - “Increased weapon handling speed and you can reload while sprinting.”
— Will this affect weapon switching? Reloading? Melee speed?
— What exactly will this do to animation speed? increase 25% 50% 100%?
Splinter Grenade Expert - Start with extra splinter, max splinters increased
Plasma Grenade Expert - Start with a plasma, max plasmas increased

— What increase will this provide to movement? is it base movement speed? Will it affect sprint and thrust as well?

— I've heard that this lets you boost twice before cool down. Any confirmation?
— How much faster is the faster sprint?
Increased Strength - “Extra melee and Spartan Charge damage. Your Spartan Charge has extra range.”

— Would the effects of this Stack with Energy Bayonet?

I’m sure all of these values are subject to patching by 343 but it would be great to have an idea of what they are currently are and how they will affect the meta-game as more people unlock them. Can Detective GAF / Mythbuster GAF or any 343 insiders shed any light here?
