Halo 5 Will Launch Without Big Team Battle

What the heck? I mean sure Warzone should be an okay replacement... but I live in the BTB playlist. This news is rather disappointing.

Known by everyone except for me I suppose lol. Does post-launch mean 9 days? or a week?

One month, I heard. Don't ask me who said that where, so don't hold me to that.

I wonder if it's purposeful to get people playing Warzone?

Can the Warzone maps be used for other purposes? Like can we play non-Warzone customs on them?

They are not Forgeable, so I doubt it. They are also 4 times the size of a normal BTB so having to play BTB on those would be not very good.

Wasn't it known since E3 that BTB would not be there at launch? Also he doesn't explicitly say that none of the 14 maps are BTB, just that BTB wouldn't be there from launch.

Also BTB has been confirmed to be classed as Arena multiplayer.

Even if I'm wrong, its been confirmed there will be at least 15 maps released between launch and June, that's 8 months which means about 2 maps could be released a month. That means even if Halo 5 launches without any BTB maps, it won't stay that way for very long.

I thought all we knew was that you couldn't play Warzone on forged maps.

Has it been confirmed that you can't forge on the Warzone maps?

I wouldn't worry too much. Hopefully they'll add it in pretty quickly.

What worries me is that they might be including BTB maps in the "15+ free DLC maps". Cause then they're really just catching up to what should be their standard offerings, not giving us bonus maps.

Completely off-topic, but I wonder whether 60fps can be maintained on forged maps. Seems like the most likely candidate for blips.

Is that the actual amount of maps then? 14/6? Great start to be fair. 7/7r(emix) but the ones in the Beta were fantastic.

Also, if anyone has had the chance to play Warzone at any events or previews, honestly...it's amazing. I certainly will not miss BTB, but I will play it when it is around, especially if I understand the tweet right in that BTB will require new maps.

Yes. Probably the amount of AI scripting involved with the maps is too much to mess with the maps without completely breaking it.
Plus the maps are huge and already have to use lower quality textures to run smoothly. Adding a few forge pieces would make your disc explode, lol.

6 of those are Warzone maps. If those BTB maps count towards those 15 and they decide to give us like 6 BTB, that would mean they are only giving us 3 small sized maps for 4vs4 after launch. That would be heavily disappointing.

Josh Holmes confirmed that at E3 to a Forger. So yeah, not possible.

Ducain talks about it in his video. He is a well known Forger, so I'd trust him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hAQGms1HDc

Not too worried about it, I love some BTB but I can wait. 20 maps at launch is ridiculous, plus all the future maps are also free.

6 warzone maps and 14 arena?

sounds pretty damn good for launch imo, enough to play for quite a while...

And maps pack are free?

Nothing to see here imo

Hey it's better than them saying buy these maps to play this playlist. I think Warzone, Breakout, Strongholds and various objective and slayer types will be more than enough at launch.

At least we're getting maps designed from the ground up for big team, rather than re-purposing Warzone maps. Remember Reach's big team maps? Those were all designed for Invasion and the majority of those maps weren't even used in full and had awful structure.

Also, I'd really like to know the complete breakdown of the maps and if Forge/Breakout maps count towards those 20 launch maps.

Oh yeah, totally. I'm more than happy with the initial offerings, personally. It's just that having BTB maps included in the free DLC maps list is hard for me to appreciate too much considering BTB has been included at launch in every other Halo game. It's like going from a deficit to zero, not zero to extra. But oh well, I really don't care that much, I'm just being picky here.

Also, do we even know what Strongholds is yet?

Also, do we even know what Strongholds is yet?

From Xbox Wire:

Building off the strengths of team-based Slayer mode, Strongholds features three control zones placed around the map that your team will need to control in order to dominate the enemy. But take note! Only the team that controls two Stronghold zones can score points: the first team to score 100 points, wins the match. Try to control all three zones and you’ll be spread too thin, so your team will need to strategize and stick together to hold the combination of two Strongholds that establish map control!

Bad Team Baddle am I right

Huh, cool. Was it fun?

Played a few matches of it on Empire during the beta, it was pretty good. It's territories but having to control 2 to score points added a little bit of stress if your team wasn't communicating.

Can we do a TINY bit more research when making these threads? Instead of just posting a tweet and saying wtf, why not also learn that it's launching ~ a week after the game launches? Threads like these cause knee jerk reactions when you could quickly Google search and inform others what the real situation is...

Oh, only a week? Well then yeah, there's really nothing to be disappointed about here except for the BTB maps possibly counting towards the 15+ free DLC maps thing.

So no loadouts, no perks and no buy weapons with real money crap?

At least some good news.

Strange.

This feels like a "play Warzone instead" approach.

Hopefully its this rather than they are rushing the game out again.
