Halo CE Anniversary to have Kinect support

Because 3 and Reach don't play like CE.

Why play Thirdstrike when you have SSFIV? Why play Black Ops when you have MW3....

I mean really? Come on son.
The CE Anniversary MP will be in the Reach engine, however, they still haven't set its features into stone. Just because it is implemented in the Reach engine, it doesn't mean that they won't be able to alter the physics or remove bloom to match the H1 MP.

The multiplayer is not Halo 1 multiplayer. It is similar to what they did with ODST adding Halo 3 multiplayer to the package. Halo CE Remake has a multiplayer component, but it just connects you to Halo Reach MP with new maps.

No, it's not 100% similar to what they did to ODST. You can use the CEA maps on Reach, however, Frankie promised that certain changes would be done to the Reach gameplay to emulate Halo 1MP under the Reach engine in the CEA playlist.

Will the MP stuff be sold separately so you can play it with Halo Reach too?
Yes, but not right away. They've said the multiplayer content will appear on the marketplace at some point.

They said on the Sparkcast that it just connects you to Reach multiplayer, it isn't anything new (besides the maps).

If I am playing Reach, I can get matched up against you with your Halo CE disc in.

Buy CE, get a download code as DLC for Reach immediately. It'll also be separate DLC for people who don't buy Anniversary down the line.

The maps will appear in the Marketplace eventually. If you get CEA you get a download code to get the maps on Reach inmediately. Moreover, Frankie said that there will be a way to play the whole Reach MP from the CEA disc.

If you own the maps, yes you can. However, it wouldn't be incredibly hard to create a playlist that removes AAs. Also, I am hoping for a tuning to the physics and maybe removal of bloom. Frankie said all the details of the MP are not set in stone yet and that's why they won't talk much about it yet.

Fuck that shit. And now it's going to take away from the Halo 4 experience by dedicating resources to it. Ugh

I do have a kinect and am interested in whatever this is, but I don't want to see it taking away from something else in Halo, which is what it's doing.

[edit] Ok check my post below for clarification on what I meant. I meant that it would be integrated into Halo 4, which will take away resources from the system that could be used elsewhere. I don't really care about it's implementation in HCEA.

Not all programmers have the same set of skills. I doubt that the people who are working on Kinect integration could have helped to the project in many other ways.
Last I heard online, it takes away 10% of system resources. Not sure how true that is, but in any case it does, since it doesn't have anything on-board.

So much kinect hate, I just don't get it. I could understand it if you felt you were missing out on a game because of a mandatory control scheme that you didn't like. We still don't have any hard facts about it to make any kind of informed decision.

I think a kinect enabled forge mode would be pretty interesting though.

Probably something dumb like flick the controler for grenades, or gesture controled warthogs.

Nothing to see here.

This made me laugh.

Does anyone know if the Halo 1 MP maps will use tweaked physics or no?
It has not been confirmed yet. Frankie said they do not have the details of MP locked yet.

I wonder what it could be, eh as long as it's some small optional thing I'm cool.

Only real drawback is the Kinect sticker on the front.

You would have to aim AND lean inwards or outwards for depth... sounds like too much work for something that can be done with a quick button press.

You've missed the entire point of Kinect, haven't you?

:P

And it was terrible.
The PC version of Halo, while not a great port by any means and having serious performance issues in single player (being one of the first pixel shader 2.0 games and I had a GeForce FX at the time, not a good combination), in multiplayer was amazing imo. Death Island, Danger Canyon, Infinity, Timberland and Ice Fields (all but one of the exclusive PC maps) were brilliant and some of the best "open" maps I've ever had the good fortune to play on. In fact, bar Blood Gulch and Sidewinder, they were probably my favourite maps of the lot.

I wish we could get those maps for a current Halo game or that they would be included in the remake because I could really get back into Halo multiplayer big time.

Still, looking forward to the remake though, Kinect support and all!

Since the original Halo never supported AI driving while you were riding as gunner, it would be neat to be able to be able to, at least, influence the aiming of the AI in the Warthog using Kinect.

It will be kind of silly to see the purple banner for games that use Kinect just for voice chat.
Optional voice chat through Kinect happens in the OS, not the games.

Man, the AI drivers are bad in every Halo game.

He didn't reveal exactly how Kinect would be used in the game

I don't mind the idea of future Kinect integration in games, but why shoehorn it into a game that is 10 years old? I can't think of a single aspect of Halo: CE that would benefit from Kinect.
