Halo Infinite Multiplayer is out NOW

Any idea why i can't find the 1440p or 1800p resolution in the resolution slider? It only show weird ass resolutions but not the classics.

I'm forced to play at 4k (the native res of my tv) with terrible slowdowns because this fucking game doesn't have a normal resolution select slider like 99,99% of other games.

I'm running it at 70% of 4k and it both looks and runs great.

Just pick a percentage, you're not forced to play at 4k.

There is another option as well - set your desktop resolution (via the Nvidia control panel) to 1440 or 1080p before you launch the game and then the game will see that as 100%.

Playing ranked arena almost exclusively
BR start

Sounds good from the comments - I may give it a go at the weekend just so I can say that I have partaken. No doubt, I'll get obliterated for an hour, then I'll delete it haha.

If i pick a weird res the game need a restart and when i restart it automatically change to window mode, probably because those weird ass resolutions are not supported by my tv, the only normal res that i can chose are 4k and full-hd (and i'm NOT gonna play on blurry 1080p)

In decades of pc gaming i never had to switch my monitor res to accomodate a game, of course a microsoft game must be the first forcing me to do this...

Thanks dude.

Also I'm confused about shield and the best way to kill an enemy here, should I shoot the body to destroy the shield and then the head or should I just shoot the head?
I sometimes feel the enemy is killing me with a few bullets but I usually need an entire magazine to get a frag.
Go for chest shots, easiest to hit, once their shields are down flick up for the headshot. Less chances to miss in a clean 1v1 fight. Experience helps to see if they're "one shot" when you see/engage an enemy already and jnownto just go for that final headhsot to get a kill instead of a bigger target while shields are up.
Sad to see people dunking on the mixed playlist. I love Slayer too but CTF and Oddball just end up being deserted in Halo after a couple of years. This keeps ranked really fresh IMO, you need to be a complete player to progress.
Yeah it's a tough one, at least 343 are trying to mix up the slater all the time.
Quick question, when later battle passes are released will we have to choose which one we progress in or will they all progress at the same time (like exp. share in Pokémon)?
Not 100% but believe they'll just stay active and we will be able to choose which season pass to progress at will and time.
Hi guys. Does this game have some sort of hidden elo system for non ranked? Or is it mostly just random who you play with/against
Yes there is a skillsystem behind the scenes and other elements e.g. match squads against squads instead of random vs stacked squads. Just depends on your region and who is searching your playlist at those times.

I haven't jumped too heavily on the criticism yet. The actual game is good. The playlists don't bother me really but I hate, fucking HATE that ball game. The Battlepass indeed goes up way to slow. Does it only increase based on the daily challenge? One of the weeklies is to kill a spartan with a sword. Which I did, and got the 'Brutal' achievement I think, but the challenge didn't pop. Which means I only have Play 9 PvP matches left. and am only on level 2!!!! And the cosmetics are shit for ages. And I can't swap the weeklies out.

Definitely need to rethink this imo. Also tying them to in game actions is a bit weak - like run over someone etc. makes people seek them out instead of PTFO. Annoying in BTB.

I played four odd ball games consecutively and had enough. That type should be unranked. Bring back Swat and similar playlist structure to Halo 5.

I also agree that the Battle Pass is far too slow. I'm level 2 after playing for the guts of 6 hours.

Last night I dedicated to Halo infinite all night & tested everything, from quick play to ranked games & must say for me best experiance was large team battles(24 players). The gameplay there was so damn fun.

Glad to see where people's priorities lie...:

I don't even know what to say...
Some of us like to look sexy AF whilst getting our arses handed to us and driving our mates off a cliff 👍🏻

Edit: Oh you mean start and finish ranked. Yeah, fuck quitters.

Few days in now and I'm impressed but not blown away. First off it looks and plays beautifully, no complaints there. I'm more concerned about the lack of maps, unless we are getting more from the 8th December? And of course a more robust set of playlists. I would have thought the number of maps would have been significantly higher at launch but what's there is well designed.

Yeah surely this can't be all that they have to show for 6 years !

I also want to see the inclusion of an option to disable cross play and the option to region filter the matchmaking

I do hope that they keep the mixed playlist though.

The battle pass probably needs adjustments, speed wise, for sure, and I wish you could get XP from just doing stuff without needing it to be a challenge. Wins, kills, caps, etc. should all give progress. They've already mentioned that are reworking it, though, so I'm not concerned just yet. Plus the fact the passes never expire is just awesome. Fuck the FOMO!

Yep, the big battles are my favorite. I'm not nearly as good at these games as I used to be, and the big battles have far more ways to impact the battle other than just pure accuracy. I'm a flag running fool, gunner in vehicles, escort, all kinds of things that keep the game fun and keep me involved rather than getting curb stomped in 4v4.

Word on the street is that they are holding back maps with spoilers until launch. I can't verify that but I've seen multiple posts around the web stating as much.

How does the high res texture pack work? Are the textures improved across the board between low and ultra or do you have to have ultra textures enabled for it to apply the high res textures? I'm a little confused by this.

I literally played Infinite for 12 hours yesterday... I haven't had this much fun playing MP in a very long time. Over the course of that 12 hour session I must have played with 15 different friends, all types of people coming out of gaming retirement to play. At one point I had 8 friends in chat playing BTB, laughing , having the time of out lives, good shit!!!

Played about 10 BTB games yesterday and really enjoyed it. The new equipment can make a huge difference in a match. Using the hook to board a vehicle is really fun, used the reflector to bounce a guy with stealth camo off a cliff, just had a sneaking suspicion something was around me and just tried the reflector out as I had just picked it up and *whoosh* guy got launched 15 feet back off the platform. Very cool.

Game is fantastic, best Halo since Halo 3 IMO. Can't wait till I have more time this weekend to play more with some buddies. Some of the late game CTF matches get so intense, especially if there's a tie into overtime.

Still laughing at all you whining about unlocks being too slow. Kinda missing the point of the game. Which is to have fun and keep people on an even playing field. Cosmetic unlocks are meant to be a nice cherry on top over a few months time, not some quick dopamine hit you get per match for simply existing. It's how it was with Halo 3/Reach back in the day too. If you can't deal with that, maybe go back to CoD/Fortnite.

But how can I let people know I'm an elite player unless I have a swaggy chest plate??

I been playing the last 2 days and I'm having a blast. It feels like I've been transported back to 2007 when Halo 3 came out. My team won a crazy oddball game yesterday, that shit was intense. I can safely say that 343 nailed the multiplayer to perfection.

just pay a hunderd bucks to Gucci up your spartan as you want.. and be obliterated and teabagged hard by the grey default NOSKIN pleb that is really an "elite" sweat player...

I want these guys to pay money.

Thanks for funding the new maps guys :messenger_blowing_kiss:

I have to say, Ranked Arena is a really different level to the more casual and light-hearted unranked modes.

The sweat was very real. It turns out, me and my friends are good at ranked Slayer but terrible at the objective based modes. Played about 5 matches total and lost 3 (all either CTF or Grif) and won the 2 Slayer matches with Steaktacular medals. We're straight up stone cold killers but too retarded to hold objectives.

Damn the weekly battle pass progress is broken for me. Cant progress two of the 4 challenges as it doesnt track my kills. Additionally 1 challenge is a kill with a turret thats just on 1 map that i have just seen once so far...

On Series X and PC/Steam, not had any bugged challenges and I'm at Level 8 so far (I have about 20 xp boosts left from the Monster promo last year) and 8/10 placements done now, I'm really loving it and its made me rethink my purchases of BF and CoD

They really need to bring in the casual match making system from MCC. Select all the game modes you are interested in playing, then hit find match.

Simple, intuitive, and caters for all players.

Forced game modes are not fun. For example, I hate CTF and its variations unless it's BTB, and will back out.

While we're at it, how about an input type filter for casual play, and server region selection too. So many quality of life features missing.

I was going to buy battlefield. Then this dropped and now I can easily wait for the half price sale

...and ruin the game for at least other 3 people, if not other 7 at all.

nice attitude bro
My free time is too valuable to spend playing games I don't want to. This is squarely on 343 - I am guilt free! 😁👍

Besides, in casual play, I think I see other players join in progress - or teams are padded with bots at the very least.?

Again, I point to MCC as match making done right (eventually).

You could tell there are a ton of new Halo players on here. Most matches people just run right past rockets or oversheild. Crazy.

Nice post in general.
While to me personally, the progression system of Halo means nothing - I definitely see your point here. I heard a dude screaming over the mic about how he was trying to finish some challenge all match. Now that ive looked at them - alot of those challenges do promote shit gameplay especially on objectives.
It just goes back to that modern gamer mindset of always needing something to unlock.

Yep. Which is why we need to be adamant about having them changed. Whether it be to provide *more* experience at end of games based on performance, or just make the challenges all generic "Win a stronghold match" or "Get 20 kills Against Bots"/"Get 20 Kills in PvP". Something that is easily attainable and doesn't jeopardize the actual matches. That way people who *do* enjoy going for levels can still enjoy that and those that don't can still have fun, engaging matches.

We should push for a game that all types fo players can enjoy. More players equals more success equals longer life span.

The fact that something As simple as being able to choose what kind of match you want to queue for isn't in the base game at launch (and this is Launch, not a beta. They already stated everything that was going to be available on Dec 8th is here now), is a fucking travesty.

Not sure why so many people are eager to defend shitty design like this.

I at first didn't realize this was F2P and just downloaded on the Xbox app. Any reason not to switch to the Steam version? Would be nice to have my Steam friends list active.

I only think it is designed this way to combat the way MCC had horrendously dliuted player pools, which meant matchmaking took an age. At least this way you'll consistently be getting into games fairly quickly, even if some modes aren't exactly my favourites. Variety is the spice of life and all that.

Maybe, but the cost is too high to customize your spartan.

While I understand what you mean, and I personally don't care about cosmetics, the issue is more that you only get XP from completing challenges. Meaning if you get paired up with people who do care about that stuff, there is a good chance they will be more interested in doing their challenges rather than trying to do the objectives.

That's not really an issue as you get higher in ranked. There people just care about playing the game, not playing dress up. Been spending all my time in ranked because people actually play the objectives.

That's good to hear. I haven't played any games since getting my rank placement, but those first 10 matches were pretty brutal.

I would love a controller only\m+k playlist thing for people on pc who play with a controller and doesn't want to get massacred in seconds.

Really? I don't find it particularly hard to keep pace with M+K users on Halo, but I think that's just years of muscle memory from using a controller with Halo games. The aim assist in Infinite seems to negate any accuracy advantage they might have.
