Hm. I assumed this meant you had to play Firefight by yourself and complete on Legendary. If that's not case, then it's nowhere near as hard as I originally thought.

Edit: Also, new studio looks fantastic.

Now that's hard indeed (that's what she said).

But since we already have a legendary-solo achievement, I don't think this has to be done lone-wolf style in firefight.

Who knows, it sounds like a lot of rage'n'fun.

Would be nice if we got avatar awards for some of these achievements. How about a nice necklace made out of Elite jawbones? A giant tea bag you can swing around for a prop? Or better yet: avatar abilities!

Can I haz a jetpack, armor lock or cloak for my avatar?
 
Achievements all look great, having the trailer be a commercial is a good reason for making it short, and Lars with Spiderman made me laugh.
 
So the Revenant is the thunder-powered vehicle?

Such a waste of anticipation.

The Update looks really cool, If I worked at Bungie- I'd be so excited on that new crib. I have to believe that a better place to work will translate into better games.


Also just a friendly reminder: Saturday Night HaloGaf Customs™ will again be back and better then ever tomorrow night. So there's definitely 9 missions in the game ala Halo 3, pretty much, just looking at the achievement listings. The first is most likely a training mission.

Biggest proof:
Achievement: Kill 7 Moa in the 2nd mission - Moa are those Ostrich like animals we saw in the screens, which are from the apparent opening story mission.
So there you go. I'm really analytical.
 
Regardless of whether those maps make it into matchmaking, I'd like to see download links for them in the future. Especially "Horizon" (going by filenames) with its funky mothership, and "Facing".
 
Woah, didn't see their new studio. That place looks HOT. If I already wanted to work there, now I want it even more, haha!

BTW - They will need to release some tools to create more atmosphere dustiness and other elements like that, plus some extra pack with a different theme for Forge because right now some maps seem quite hard to read. Specifically these:

It's kinda hard to tell how the layout is just by looking at it for a second, whereas it doesn't happen in the 'main' multiplayer maps.

Also it would be awesome if they included (even if probably there isn't) an option to change the hour of the day in the map, to create sunrise / midday / sunset / night maps and give Forge World some variation. Plus, with large shadows in sunset (and to a minor extent in sunrise), some maps could be easier to tell apart at a first glance.

Yeah, the map is dense as fuck. Really nothing like it in Halo yet. Biggest concerns would have to be making the spawns work while maintaining dynamic map flow as well as it just being super confusing.

Uhm, I don't think it's confusing. It just LOOKS confusing at a first glance (because of what I said on my last post), but if you spend a minute looking around, you'll see the layout seems pretty simple.

The biggest problem with that map would be that it's not symmetric, so one of the sides might have an advantage over the other.
 
Uh, someone at another forum is saying if you are employed at Best Buy there is a closed beta going on for Halo: Reach at Microsoft ExpertZone.

I think it'll be a easy achieve if the Gruntocalypse Firefight mode is allowed

One big ground all connected? Dunno how I feel about that :/ The buildings seem to have no other meaning but leave you inside a small closed environment so everybody can throw 'nades inside. I would rather have something like this:

Divide half of the map and give it a second floor that you can only reach using the buildings and maybe a couple jumping pads. There, that would be much more enjoyable in my opinion.

I know not all of these will make it into match making, but is there any chance that Forge world is going to have its own playlist? Or are the maps going to be added to specific playlists as you see fit. I suppose the latter would make more sense, seeing as the 6(?) forge world maps that ship on the disk will most likely be in the standard playlists......although there are going to be soooo many maps that they would probably clogg up the standard playlists.....help me out here!?

That is damn big though, comfortable 16 player I would think since it has layers.

Going to get some real interesting maps that's for sure.

Someone is lieing. Theres some contests for Halo shit. Nothing else. Although I'd imagine the game will be up there a few days before release for like 20 bucks (Based on Alan Wake and Crackdown 2)

Oh! Didn't meant to say the map was bad or anything. Just that it wasn't readable (maybe because it's a screenshot, that's true, but also because it's the same sort of textures all the time). That's why I asked for some more atmosphere effect so the further the elements, the duller (or foggier, or whatever) they become and so it would be easier to tell apart. Still, I bet playing the maps would feel so much different it's not even funny. But even then.. :P

As for the map idea, it sounds like a lot of fun. I like the idea of seeing the enemy base through a glass but not being able to reach it :lol It reminds me just a little bit of a ut99 map but I can't put my finger on which one.. It could be a user made map or one of the many map packs released afterwards so..

JK, but what have you done to give players a reason to go off of the shortest path between each base? And while I have you here, could you detail the entire process with which custom map variants will be submitted and implemented into matchmaking?
 
I guess no word on forge world playlisting then.......?

I googled/searched and couldn't find anything, but please god tell me there's a custom game search this time.
 
Hey L.Wu- Thanks for getting the update up in your Archive super fast tonight, you seem to be getting faster and faster at it and I know it's a pain in the ass to do. It's a lot easier to read for some reason with the white background, it seems to be better on the eyes. Your a hero.
 
My hype for Reach just keeps rising and rising. Just busted out the Mjolnir Mix of the Halo theme on my guitar:D The parts I can remember how to play anyway. Cannot wait for this game! Might fire up on ODST and play some Firefight this weekend to hold me over.
