Halo: Reach Campaign Trailer

Wondering if the assets (textures, mainly) used in Forge World would also show up in the campaign at some point. Quite a big map, and it'd make sense to me that a chapter or two would be set in similar canyons and valleys.
Being situated on a Halo installation says no.

Unless Installation 04 pops up right at the end.

During custom games? You can't add custom names for parts of community-made maps.
He's asking if you can turn it off, not add names. So if your custom map is entirely set on The Rock, you wouldn't see the location of The Rock next to the radar the entire time.

Discounting the skybox, of course. The environments themselves could be very plausible as a location on Reach.

Just put some rust on that Forerunner spire and it could pass as a human structure.

I hope so, although I don't think it's likely. In terms of geometry as well as texturing, they could have set an entire mission on Forge World if they wanted to, because I'm sure the playspace is much larger than The Covenant in Halo 3.

If they'd have planned Forge World from the beginning, then it would have made one incredible mission. I would imagine that firefight on forge world would have been one of the best things ever as well..... if only.

Ultimate thing ever would be a scenario/map editer that can be utilized and planned on the PC but then exported to your Xbox. You could design your own campain missions... on Forge World. Or hell, your own custom map with your own custom scenario.

I bet if you tried to bank a grenade off of it, it'd bounce right back and explode in your face.

A hypothetical Firefight mode on Forge World would be especially kickass if the mode was tweaked to allow for a long-form, multiple stage variant. Play a certain number of waves in one Forge World area, then travel to the next in vehicles and begin the next batch of waves. Maybe even have an all-vehicle waves in between areas and let teams have a gauntlet with air vehicles or warthogs and tanks.

You come in here with your Half-Life avatar and your Half-Life attitudes.. smh
*gasp* And what is the implication of that statement, sir? Half-Life is brahsome.

On the pre-edit version of the post you quote: It seems I've crossed a circuit ~_~

Forgive me, there isn't room with the Robin Walker shrine in here.

Man this thread is moving... Anyone care to summarize the thread so far?

BTW, sorry to hear Shishka is leaving Bungie. He must have been the most villainized Bungie employee in H3 and I was looking forward to seeing what he had planned for us in Reach.

Believe it or not: If OWV plays Halo Reach with his head uncovered, the game hits a hard-coded cubemap limit.

If I use the OWV perm in Reflections, it divides CPU by zero and everyone has AR starts forever.

I've attempted a quick calculation and the levels of entropy displayed here are simply off the charts.

Don't know if anyone else caught this, but I found it interesting that urk's map spans over two of Forge World's callouts, and it doesn't seem particularly huge by any stretch (inb4thatswhatshesaid). Hopefully there are named areas within the larger ones to help combat the problem that you and Shake are talking about.

So, this is probably old either way. But has it been confirmed if we will see the Flood or not?
No word. I'm guessing no.

Speaking of flood, I'm kinda surprised how quiet it is this week, though. Last week's deluge has given way to crickets.

Yeah I can see that being a strategy when designing the maps, stretching them across the callout thresholds at specific points. At least to break the map in two.

Bungie's local PR and community team have signed off on the project and passed it over to their colleagues at Microsoft France.

No word. I'm guessing yes, at least in passing somehow, or foreshadowing what is to come later in the series.

I just can't imagine a full Halo installment without the flood working their way in there somehow. Wouldn't be the end of the world though.

Who was responsible for Climate Primate-gate? Did you put the Brutes in, Frankie? WAS IT YOU?

Oh, I loved Half-Life long before Halo ever existed. It is my #2 game of all-time, and no, a Halo game is not #1. Valve were my favourites.

And then Faliszek went and broke my heart.
:lol Damn, I remember that. I'm sure he'd be receptive to the possibility of a reconciliatory noogie.

Random thought of the day: what if in the "Hazards" menu of Firefight, along with stuff like vehicles and ordance drops, Flood was an option. Infection and Carrier forms entering the map, re-animating Brutes and Elites during the battle.

I would be really annoyed if the Flood were in the game in any form, or if they were mentioned, or 'foreshadowed', or anything. They have no place on Reach.

...but I would be okay with this, I think.

Guess they don't want to oversaturate folks. Didn't some Bungie folks just finish a tour of some countries too? With GamesCon and Pax due before launch, I'm sure they'll be busy.

Also, won't review copies be sent out shortly for September publication? Can't wait to see the first review.

Isn't the Covenant on Reach looking for Forerunner artifacts? Its been so long since I read Fall of Reach, but if so that provides an opening...

And Ghaleon, I know we've brought it up a couple of times but thats exactly what I'd love to see in Firefight. So even if they don't show up in the campaign they could still find a way towork themselves into Reach, just like Cortana and Master Chief.

Smell of dodge in MM these days. Some playlists ain't working, the population map hasn't been on in more than a week. Something ain't sitting right with me.

I just really hope the Flood is not present on Reach, I will just prefer the large scale battles between the Covenant and interested to see what the Skirmishers bring to the sandbox.

I am also just very interested in how the campaign for Reach is really going to feel as whole, it is one thing to play as MC and feel like a hero in the other games in the franchise but it is a very difficult task for Bungie to make the player feel as if they are fighting a losing battle that is still indeed fun.

There is the possibility of some awesome three-way battles, thanks to whatever crazy animal life is on Reach that messes up Elites in one of the talked about campaign missions.

I think they managed to pull off this feeling in ODST. The first few missions (and some later ones) were just rolling retreats. Success in that game was a matter of reuniting with survivors and getting the hell out of there.

Hopefully Reach takes this to the next level.

Activision taking over already?

That is not what I felt in ODST...I felt loneliness and despair but nothing along the lines of what they need to pull off in Reach. Going through 1 blown apart city environment and reuniting with a handful of survivors is very small in comparison to being the last stand of an entire planet.
I actually did love ODST though.

I think they can pull it off but it is just going to take another step of growth and maturity that the Bungie showed in ODST.
