Happy 1st Birthday, Wii U!

Looking forward to purchasing one once enough software is out. Has there been any mention of when the next Mario Party hits?

Yeah, I'll get one eventually. Still not enough for me to feel like I need one. That'll probably change around Smash Bros though. SM3DW look fucking incredible, but I don't have the cash right now.

I was let down by the launch, ZombiU was the one launch game I was interested in, and it was just ok. I didn't buy another game until Pikmin 3, my first time playing a Pikmin game, and I was blown away. Spectaular looking and addictive gameplay. The Wonderful 101 was another surprise, I didn't like the demo, but got the game anyway. Pure fun, it deserves better sales wise. I also got The Wind Waker HD, which is worth getting Wii U alone, whether you've played The original or not. Recently beat Sonic Lost Worlds, and enjoyed despite it's flaws. Will be getting 3D World on friday.

I primarily play on Sony consoles, but I've really taken a liking to the Wii U. It's a better device than the Wii ever was, with a wealth of exclusives to enjoy. I hope people support it in the future.

One year already... time sure does fly.

There may be a ton of naysayers and NintenDOOM posts about the Wii U, but the console has given me some great experiences thus far from Pikmin 3, W101, New Super Mario/Luigi U and even Wii Sports Club. Looking forward to playing 3D World this Friday.

It's been a bumpy road for the Wii U so far but I think it will hit a bit of a stride over the next year when we see titles like Mario Kart, DKC, and Smash.

While the console has had a rough year, it has many great games out for it now and many more scheduled for 2014. I hope Nintendo can drum up interest for the system and it will have a nice 5/6/7 year life.

As of right now, the Wii U has so many great games, that by passing the console by, people are at a loss. The games are:
1- NSMB U, best 2D mario in a long time.
2- NSL U, it is even MORE fun than mario U.
3- Rayman Legends, multiplatform, but best version is the Wii U one. Touch stages run surprisingly well.
4- The Wonderful 101, my favourite game on the Wii U now, and best videp game I have played in about 4 years.
5- Wind Waker HD, as everyone knows, it is the best zelda title (:lol)

There are so many great games on the way as well. Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, X, Bayonetta, and much more. IMO, it is the gamer's console to own atm.

I'm gonna received extra $500 bucks tomorrow. Still undecided whether I should buy this one year old console or just buy a bunch of books instead.

Also, can I just stop for a second and reiterate how good this console's web browser is? Fast load times, HTML5 support, and I love the multitasking the second screen provides; can watch a Youtube video on the television and browse GAF on the gamepad.

I think I'll buy one soon, but it absolutely needs games. It's basically getting a pass from me because I really can't afford to miss 3D World, and in retrospect I'll love NSMBU+Luigi, and I always wanted to play TW101. And that's it, I basically want no other game until MK8 hits.

Pikmin 3, come on.

And there's MH3U if you're into hunting. :P

Welp it was my first next-gen console by virtue of a good clearance deal, I mostly want to play X and Zelda at this point. Zombi U was a surprisingly decent title but frankly its year one lineup is trash by normal standards. Its hard to imagine even less support and games coming next year.

We'll see next year ;P

My god, that gif is amazing.

Hard to believe the console has been out for a year already, it sure has been a rough one!
With 3dworld coming out this week ( or is it next week in Europe?) there's finally starting to be enough interesting software for me. Getting the console either for Christmas or early next year, I'm pretty excited :)

Fell out of the womb, only to crawl out the door and firmly fall asleep in between the garbage cans in a shady alley.

Congratulations, Nintendo!

Juggling between my Wii U, 3DS and PC can a bit tough, but I've been using my Wii U every single day (except week-ends) for quite a few months, and I've already clocked in several hundred hours.

Yet my Wii U keeps collecting dust... am I doing something wrong? :p

I'm happy with my WiiU purchase as I have been with every single Nintendo purchase I have made in the past (3DS/2DS is the only thing I've never purchased from Nintendo).

There are a few decent games so far, but looking next year is bloody amazing. 3D World looks so good I'd nearly say it'll be my favourite this holiday season, at least from a single player perspective.

over 216 (edit: I think it should be 18 more titles to be up to date, incl. 5 new exclusives)
44 Exclusives (incl. 13 download-only games) plus 25 console/timed exclusive (23 of which are only available through the eShop)
- Wiki

Mmm. That list contains a shitload of games that aren't due out until 2014 or might not exist at all.

First console i ever traded in whilst it was still current. I had hooch hopes but got the safest Nintendo for years. I'm sure Mario kart, Smash Bros and 3D World will be amazing games, but they're not the kind of games that sell me a console anymore. If i was 15 it might have been my fave console in years, but my tastes have changed.

For balance though, I'm not seeing much on PS4 or XB1 that appeals either yet. I'll hibernate on next gen for a few months.

Bought a WiiU at launch. After 1 year I have the following games for it:

ZombiU
LEGO City Undercover
Wonderful 101
Legend of Zelda Windwaker HD

eShop:
Wii Fit U
Nano Assault NEO
Pokemon Rumble U
Couple of VC games

I do like stuff like Miiverse, Animal Crossing Plaza, etc. And the games for it are fun to play, so the quality is there - It just needs a larger and broader selection of titles for consumers to choose from.

Looking forward to Super Mario 3D World, Smash Brothers U, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, "X".

A full year, and only 1 original game I would buy for it, and 1 remake. What bums me out more is knowing that I'll probably have to wait until E3 in June before Nintendo gives me anything to get excited about, and that won't even come out until holiday 2014. Sigh.

isn't that good ? You can spend your hard earned money for candy and stuff '

The console is awesome. The games are awesome. You guys should all go buy one. After one year, it's really pretty great.

I've only had mine for about a month, and I'll have 11 games by this Friday.

1) Zelda: WW HD
2) NSMB U
3) NSL U
4) NintendoLand
5) Zombi U
6) Mario 3D World
7) Sonic Lost World
8) W101
9) Pikmin 3
10) Art Academy
11) Trine 2

More next year.

12) Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
13) Bayonetta 2
14) Mario Kart 8
15) Smash Bros.
16) X

And there's still more I want to get now.

17) Deus Ex HR: DC
18) Wii Sports Club
19) Monster Hunter
20) Wii Party U

More will be announced at E3. Going to end up owning 20 games for this thing before I get to the end of one year. And most of the games are reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy good.

21) Zelda Wii U
22) Miyamoto New IP

Happy birthday Wii U! I have more games than I can play across Wii U, PS3 and 3DS, so I really don't care about the 'droughts'. It'll get enough games over it's life to justify the price tag so whatever.
The Wonderful 101 is also my game of the year, and in my top 5 of all time.

I laughed way too hard at this.

Easily the worst first year for a Nintendo console.

Yes, on it's way to worst Nintendo console ever created. The N64 droughts were also pretty bad in the beginning but it at least launched with the revolution that was Mario 64 instead of the most unremarkable Mario game possible.
