We are known for our first class airports, train stations and whatever the hell the Elbphilarmonie is supposed to be.Germans build stuff.
They're like lego people.
I was in Frankfurt on Monday and Tuesday, would have loved to stay there for this weekend!
It's quite the achievement to integrate a country with a nonexistent economy and providing them the same social benefits from day one without collapsing.
East germany actually had one of the strongest economies in the eastern bloc, though it traded mostly with them. After the reunion many east german companies went bankrupt or were cheaply bought by west german competitors.
Nowadays there are a few places in the former GDR, mostly the big cities, which are prosperous but much of the east never recovered.
Thanks again, David Hasselhoff for reuniting our country.
